  1. So I double-checked, and it does look like he's only in line for three starts against the Yankees. I'm not sure why they said he'd get a start in each of the next two Yankees series, because for that to happen, they'd have to give him an extra day off. If they do that, it'll change the rest of the schedule as well, and make it tough for him to make the wild card start. It's not about whether or not the team can afford the contract, it's about whether or not they should. 180/6 is nowhere near enough to what he'll get. He's going to get a contract in the Scherzer/Kershaw range, and it's not a sound investment at that price. If, for whatever unthinkable reason, he fell down to the Lester/Felix price range, I would sign him in a heartbeat.
  2. Yeah, I'm almost positive that I made a mistake somewhere, because I counted four Yankees starts last night. Let me wake up and I'll double check it.
  3. That is literally the exact way it works. The table is literally right in front of you. http://i.gyazo.com/caf9c86da6b871eee184b2b600380a75.png
  4. What the hell happened to Salvador Perez? Not that I'm complaining that one of the Royals' best guys has devolved into utter s***, but wasn't he nearing 3 fWAR at one point in the season? I remember him being close to Martin in WAR and thinking that it wasn't exactly ridiculous that he'd been voted into the All-Star game. Since then, his wRC+ has fallen to the depths of hell, and he's posted nothing but negative value. His fWAR has actually fallen to below 1.0 wins on the year.
  5. This quote is from another thread but I'll respond to it here, considering the other thread was garbage-tier and I'd prefer to let it die it's miserable death. So yeah, the fact that they started Price today and have said that they plan on playing him every 5th day regardless of off days, they have a chance to basically set up every possible Price-related narrative you can think of. While I should note that I don't think he'll make every start for the rest of year on an exact 5-game schedule (I expect him to ask for an extra day at some point), I'll assume that he will for the purpose of this post. Based on that, here is the projected schedule of games that Price should pitch in: 08/03 v Minnesota Twins --------- (W) 5-1 08/08 @ New York Yankees -------- 08/13 v Oakland Athletics ------- 08/18 @ Philadelphia Phillies --- 08/23 @ Los Angeles Angels ------ 08/28 v Detroit Tigers ---------- 09/02 v Cleveland Indians ------- 09/07 @ Boston Red Sox ---------- 09/12 @ New York Yankees -------- 09/17 @ Atlanta Braves ---------- 09/22 v New York Yankees -------- 09/27 v Tampa Bay Rays ---------- 10/02 @ Tampa Bay Rays ---------- Basically, he'll pitch in four of the Jays thirteen remaining games against the Yankees, he'll get a chance to quell the Valencia vs Price ******** when he faces the Athletics, he'll get a shot at retribution against the Tigers, and both of his final two starts will come against the Rays, with his last of the season taking place at the Trop. This schedule would also put him in line to potentially pitch in the wild card game on three days of rest.
  6. Embarrassing that Chappy flew under your radar.
  7. Well the 43.4% shot at the wild card seems on the low side because isn't including the 17.1% chance the Jays have at winning the division. Their total odds of making the playoffs are at 60.6%, which is probably the number you were looking for. http://i.gyazo.com/29c245cb32a29536cc585ea14693e3ac.png

  9. Why in the mother f*** would it be a "go-ahead" shot instead of a walkoff? What the hell are you doing?
  10. You're a Frodo at best. Without me, the Samwise Gamgee of GDTs, you wouldn't last a f***ing day out there on your own.
  11. Did you just f***ing call me Garfunkel? I'm taking my talents to reddit.
  12. Look at these scrubs taking all the credit for my magnificent GDT-assists. I'm doing all the work behind the scenes and getting no appreciation for it. I'm like the Ben Zobrist of GDTs.
  13. With a two run triple in the first, a double in the second, a single in the third, and a solo shot in the 5th, Adrian Beltre has just hit for the cycle. It took him just five innings today to become the fourth player ever (and only the first since 1933) to hit for three cycles in his career. All three of his cycles have come in Arlington (two as a Ranger, one as a Mariner).
  14. Yeah I knew I read this somewhere, here it is: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/116794162/slow-down-blue-jays-pitcher-ra-dickey-taking-knuckleball-down-a-notch He was purposely slowing it down because he thought it would "remain in the zone longer" and improve his command.
  15. Maybe I'm remember this incorrectly, but prior to the season, didn't Dickey say some ******** about how he was going to try and slow down his knuckler to get better control of it? If that was the case, maybe he finally realized it wasn't working.
  16. Games Tulo starts: 5-0 Games Tulo doesn't start: 0-2
  17. What do you expect, the guy who asked that question was Cafardo, the national writer for the Red Sox.

  19. Top-notch, high-quality thread. http://i.imgur.com/9Jti2Z2.png
  20. Every claim has always had its own thread. Where else would people rage and lose their s*** about players like Preston Guilmet?
  21. Price live media conference right now: http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/video/v327909683/live-blue-jays-postgame-availability

  23. Disregard the last post, Sportsnet just posted a video of Zaun's meltdown. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/zaun-stop-writing-cheques-your-skinny-ass-cant-cash/ lol'd at the URL.
  24. Somebody on reddit transcribed Zaun's pre-game comments for anyone that didn't hear them. And I Read: "Dear Yordano Ventura. Are you seriously running your mouth? You don't even have 3 years of uninterrupted service time. The only reason you're even in the show right now is because Jason Vargas blew out. They sent you back to the semi-pros because you were stinking up the place. You weigh about a buck twenty five and should probably be watching your back. Jose Bautista is a 6 time all-star with 269 lifetime homers and 12 years of service. Hardly a nobody. Show some respect and stop writing checks with your mouth that your skinny ass can't cash. Especially from the safety of your team bus as you exit town with your tail between your legs? Don't puff your chest out and challenge a grown man via Twitter, and then erase the tweets. Go knock on the Jays clubhouse door and do it like a man if you feel that strongly. Stop acting like Tommy-Tough guy while hiding behind the internet and a dozen teammates. Stop running your mouth kid. We all know what you're about, there's no confusion there. You're the guy who throws 100 mile an hour fastballs at guys when you know you don't have to hit, or face the Jays again in the regular season. Grab a bat and man up. Otherwise shut up. Sincerley yours, The Manalyist. Section 134, at the Rogers Center in case you're wondering where I'll be. -Greg Zaun
