  1. For anyone that didn't catch when I posted it in the GDT, here's a video of Stroman long tossing, and his legs look a lot better (#PatTabler). Facebook Link | Direct Video Link Did that ball ever land?
  2. No it doesn't. http://i.gyazo.com/fe931c4c25ab3b45c9b76ec98221f16f.png
  3. Marcus Stroman is getting stronger, and so is my ability to link unbroken non-garbage. https://video.xx.fbcdn.net/hvideo-xaf1/v/t42.1790-2/11835335_1029763723721140_1371141074_n.mp4?efg=eyJxZSI6InZpZGVvX3ByZWZlcnJlZF90YWdzXzIwMTUwMTIxLHRoZV9sYXVuY2hlZCIsInJsciI6MTMzNywicmxhIjo1MTIsInZlbmNvZGVfdGFnIjoicWZfNDI2d19jcmZfMjNfbWFpbl8zLjBfcDFoY19zZCJ9&rl=1337&vabr=743&oh=d9239e5470fcee811bffd97f1ac8d219&oe=55C16BB0 Hype.

  7. I've decided that I will offer my assistance to TheRealMin on this day, but after a lengthy conference call with Baba Ganoush and the Dalai Lama, I have been made aware that, because my artwork did not make the first page of this thread, I am absolved of all blame if the Blue Jays are to lose today.
  8. labadee is 0-1 without me, 1-0 with. G-Snarls is 1-1 without me, 2-0 with (the only reason he even has a win without me is because I still did God's work that day by posting a link to the Tulowitzki live stream on the first page.) TheRealMin is 0-0 without me, 2-0 with. As he so rightfully conceded, I'm the real MVP.
  9. Everything Beane has ever received credit for would fall under this umbrella. I think with the new trend of duo-GM front offices (Epstein/Hoyer, Zaidi/Friedman) the Jays could have a real situation where they go forward with Anthopoulos and Dombrowski both in prominent roles with the club. I'm not sure how likely that is, but with Dombrowski's track record of success at the major league level, and Alex's track record in rebuilding the farm system, it could be quite a valuable pairing.
  10. The NHL and MLBAM have agreed to a $1.2B deal that will give MLB Advanced Media the responsibility of handling the NHL's web operations, apps, streaming and more. http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/latest-news/2015/8/4/9094541/mlb-advanced-media-will-run-the-nhls-web-operations-deal-1billion-game-center-live
  11. He's speculating that they'll revert to a 7-man pen, and that this might have something to do with the Valencia DFA. Blair knows nothing though.
  12. Blair thinks Thole will be called back up because Martin's been having trouble catching the knuckler (it's f***ing up his thumb). http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-could-make-move-to-protect-russell-martin/
  13. Sir 2-Digit-IQ disapproves of my opinions and I don't know how to go on without his affirmation.
  14. The two major openings on the horizon right now look to be the Jays and the Red Sox, and this guy seems to think the Sox won't be in the running:
  15. There are no assurances, and Beane won't be on the market. We have no reason to believe he will, so the assumption should be that he won't. We can't know any of that. None of us can know who would be a better club president. We know nothing about how how these front offices are run and who exactly is to credit or to blame for the organization's moves. All we can do is provide completely uneducated guesses and voice our preferences, and absolutely nobody here is qualified enough to validate or dismiss those opinions. It might be easy to write off morons like Stewart and Amaro because they've exposed themselves enough in the media to where we know that they're probably not qualified to run a major league franchise. It's a lot tougher to figure out who would make a better executive between guys like Beane and Dombrowski because we don't even have an iota of the information we'd need to make that determination.
  16. Yes. You and I know nothing about how much each of these executives is responsible for in their respective organizations, and it's incredibly pretentious to pretend that we do. With that said, the amount of alarming and questionable moves the A's made after Zaidi left the organization has really made me reconsider my views on Billy Beane. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that he signed Billy Butler to a 30M contract in the same offseason where he sold Donaldson to save on payroll. Not only does Dombrowski have a very good record himself (http://grantland.com/features/dave-dombrowski-detroit-tigers/), he's probably more equipped and qualified to run an organization from the president's role than Billy Beane is.
  17. It's funny how people were just talking about the possibility of luring Beane to the president's role and I almost made a comment in that thread about how I'd prefer Dombrowski, but I stopped when I recalled all the speculation that he might now extend in Detroit. This goes to show how little baseball reporters really know of what's going on behind the scenes. Really curious to see how this plays out, and if the Jays do entice Dombrowski to sign-on in the offseason, I'll be very interested to see if AA manages to keep his job.
  18. Avila replaces Dombrowski as Tigers GM: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/141107462/tigers-name-al-avila-new-general-manager A lot of people have talked about how they'd like the Jays to consider Dombrowski as the new team president due to the fact that his contract was up at the end of the year. With the moves he made at the deadline to sell Price and Cespedes, many thought that it meant an extension would soon follow, because it looked like ownership had enough trust in him to take the franchise on a new path. I guess there was way more to it than that. I'll keep this post updated with new information.
  19. You might get Kazmir for 64M. Anyway, there is no way in hell I'd go after Cueto or Price. Personally, I'd go all-in on Greinke. He's not going to get a 7 year deal -- a lot of teams are going to put in 4 and 5-year offers, and someone is going to come along and grab him with a 6th year. Whether he wants to pitch for the Jays is another story, but if he doesn't, there are a lot of very good secondary options on the market this year as well. I wouldn't exactly mind a trade for Shields, but I'm not all that enthused about hamstringing the payroll right before the opening of a massive buyer's market for premium free agent arms.
  20. Yes. And the recs on that comment go to eleven. http://i.gyazo.com/e449749d871b22634a0231fe69681295.png
  21. This was hilarious. First comment on that page made me lol as well.
  22. Weren't people predicting a Red Sox/Nats world series? lol
  23. I don't really understand the obsession with re-signing Price. I'd much sooner look to sign Shark or Zimmermann for half the cost of Price, or even try to take a shot at a McCarthy-like deal for Kazmir (that might not be enough if he finishes the season out strong). If the team were to suddenly get into some sort of bloodlust for a legitimate ace, I'd still rather take Greinke over Price. Greinke will get fewer years, and the contract will be a lot more affordable.
  24. Not to be a downer, but this narrative gets written almost every year. It means nothing that the Jays are one of the few big market teams with money, because if somebody wants a player enough, they'll pay for them. We already know the Cubs have a ton of money and they'll be big players in the SP market this year. There's also always the mystery team. Nobody saw Fielder going to the Tigers, nobody saw Pujols going to the Angels, nobody saw Cano going to the Mariners, and nobody saw Scherzer going to the Nats. There's no use predicting what the market will be like even when you're in October, let alone in the middle of an active season. The precedent for 200M+ contracts for bona fide aces has already been set, and unless the wheels completely fall off on Price's season, I don't think he'll have much trouble getting himself into that range.
  25. Well those are odds for you. An 80% chance to make that playoffs that early in the season isn't all that much. There's still a 20% chance you fail, and that's a pretty high chance. Those odds also probably didn't take into account the Lawrie, Lind and Edwin injuries that would come shortly after, or things like the deadline acquisitions of Prado, McCarthy and Headley by the Yankees. The only purpose of these projections is to give us a slightly better idea of what to expect over what the current standings already tell us. Jeff Sullivan wrote a nice little piece about it a few weeks ago where he talks about the importance of the current standings vs projections. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/how-much-should-you-believe-in-the-standings-071015
