Because they want to give everyone a chance, Davis deserves getting a look. They're not waving the white flag but right now winning is probably less important than giving the young guys a chance to prove themselves.
Man Morales bleeds so much baserunning value. It's no wonder his xWOBA is like .100+ points higher, he hits the ball hard constantly but between the shift and the sheer amounts of sure thing doubles that he loses as singles it kills his true offensive output.
That's exactly how I view it. It'd be great if he could start but it's pretty clear that he's a big injury risk and could benefit from the reduced workload. Work him as a full-time reliever next season, the fastball should recoup a few ticks and he could be dominating right away.
He did, the fastball velocity wasn't mind blowing but 93-94, the changeup was filthy, the curve was inconsistent in command but had a ton of drop. He's also huge, I didn't know he was that tall, he was some kind of presence on the mound.
Drury was brutal the last time that he played OF in the majors two seasons ago, maybe he'll be better now but I'd see Gurriel as the more likely of the two to see OF time, I believe he played some CF in Cuba.
I'd be afraid of starting his service time clock too soon, the fanbase might not like it but we might have to wait until May 2020 to get that extra year of control in with the team unlikely to be competitive next season.
Buck just said the Blue Jays have a chance to play spoiler with the Indians in town. Uhh...the Indians have a 16 game lead in their division lmao, and they're nowhere near the top teams either.
