I don't think Goldy is going to be looking for another team-friendly extension after being criminally underpaid his entire career. I'm not saying he's going for the Cano deal but I'm sure he's going to be looking to get paid very well. -
Gross, 4/68 for Eovaldi would be extremely risky.

It should be noted that fangraphs rated Andrew Kizner as their second best prospect and a 50 FV. He's a 23 year old catcher who did well in AA and got a handful of games in AAA to finish the season. Probably not much worse than Kelly in their eyes, and by their valuations they might even have preferred him as he will have options. -
I think most likely given his situation with the Astros - he barely pitched for them this season - and prior injury history they just wanted to be safe with him at the end of this season and just get a few looks in. Next year they'll likely have him try out as a starter in Spring Training, should hopefully motivate him as it'll be a competition with a bunch of our other young depth starters rather than just gifting the spot to him.

I must be one of the only ones here to like this deal for Arizona. The market for 1B is garbage, none of the top tier teams needed one, and they're getting two MLB ready pieces with decent upside plus some other minor assets. I'm probably the high man on Weaver but for one year of Goldy I think this is a perfectly fine return. -

That's the hope anyway, he seems like a very talented kid, should go #1 or #2 but then again so did Wiggins haha.

Jamal Murray has been better than Wiggins for quite a while now. Wiggins is one of the least valuable players in the league, and that's before you consider his awful contract.

He wouldn't get that, but he'd probably get something in the neighbourhood of 2/20-25 with a team option or so. Jaime Garcia who was a much bigger risk, older and never been an innings eater got 1/10 guaranteed from us just last season, someone with Leake's track record would command more I would think. My point being that they'd probably rather have some league average production at a not-unreasonably more expensive than market price than to have Morales who couldn't even do well in a hitter's haven.

Carlos Santana at 2/35 (assuming the buyout is used on his team option) is not that bad, and they obviously must have valued J.P. Crawford as not near-bust, which they should given that he's not that old and projects alright for a full-time first year player, not that I agree with their reasoning or like this deal for them in the slightest. Haniger is probably as good if not better than Segura and more importantly much cheaper. If Diaz plus Cano's albatross gets them Kelenic and Dunn who are two 50 FVs then Haniger and two substantially cheaper and shorter bad contracts is netting back way better than Alford + McGuire, not to mention dumping Morales on them. It would take something like Pearson + Biggio or Kevin Smith + Pardinho ++.

I don't think it is honestly. Morales is a cut candidate and Leake has been a league average or better starter his whole career including a 2.5 WAR season just this year and is only 31. We'd probably have to kick back like a C prospect along with Morales, which isn't the end of the world but I don't know if it's worth it rather than just cutting Morales yourself which I imagine someone in ownership has not approved or something.

That's an awful deal for the Mariners, even compared to the ones they've already completed this offseason. Haniger isn't going anywhere without a Nate Pearson-esque prospect or better plus going back, let alone with them also taking on Kendrys' dead weight contract and giving up Leake who isn't even that expensive and is a capable league average innings eater.

Damn the Phillies gave up on Scott Kingery very fast, and seemingly they must not believe in J.P. Crawford very much either.

I don't think Cano is gonna have many opportunities to DH for the Mets unless something drastic changes lol.

They essentially kicked in 50 mill since Jay Bruce has $26 million left over two years and he currently projects as barely above replacement level and Swarzak could be alright but he's also a random reliever who could also be a sunk cost at $8M.

They could have gotten way more for Edwin Diaz on his own than Kelenic + Dunn IMO, and some team would have given up something for Cano along with like $50M kicked in. Bruce and Swarzak are sunk costs as well so it's not like they got rid of most of Cano's contract for only the $20M that they gave back. I could see a way where this ends up well for the Mariners since Kelenic and Dunn are interesting but I think they could have done much better than this.

That would be one of the worst teams in the league, with only the Orioles being comfortably worse for me.

Jonathan Schoop non-tendered. Would love to pick him up to replace Travis, even if he's a free agent in a year. Could be a Smoak like pickup and potential buy low extension candidate.
