  1. Joe Mauer retired Hope he goes into the Hall, he was a hell of a catcher.
  2. He's had two down years where he was still a ~115 wRC+ hitter worth 3 WAR, he might be a Hall of Famer yet unless the PED suspension breaks his candidacy. Incredibly durable too, he probably would have surpassed 600 PA again this year had it not been for the suspension.
  3. We're open to moving Cano who has 1B eligibility.
  4. Mods can't have anyone on ignore, for obvious reasons.
  5. He's an excellent defender with offensive potential and they're probably selling high on Mallex Smith, I totally get this deal from their perspective. I think more than looking for a way to reduce his strikeout rate, they'll be looking instead for him to regain his 2016-2017 walk rate.
  6. Seems even on the value side but I don't understand who the Mariners expect to replace Zunino with at catcher.
  7. The Giants just became scary.
  8. The Rockies are not that stupid, and even if they are they'd be too stupid to trade for a CF and move Blackmon off the position.
  9. Don't sleep on Danny Green either, it was a steal to get him as part of the Kawhi package. Nurse is also doing an excellent job thus far.
  10. Looks like J.D. Martinez isn't among the finalists for the AL MVP, i.e. not among the top 3. Thank god, that's not to say there won't be some egregious inclusions like Khris Davis being ranked way too high but at least the voters didn't go full retard.
  11. Not for us obviously, but Grandal for 3-4 years at $14/15M per year seems like an unreal steal if the projected contract is what he ends up signing for. I think if someone winds up with Brian Dozier for cheap the potential reward there is huge as well. I'd jump at McCutchen for 2/26 like Kiley McDaniel is suggesting and even think the 3/42 the crowd is projecting could be a solid deal. Would not give Ryu or Eovaldi three years with their injury history but would consider slightly expensive two year deals. Would love Happ at his projected price and Lance Lynn at 2/10-12 seems like a no-brainer imo, along with Trevor Cahill. I'd consider a one year "prove yourself" deal to Garrett Richards, ala Eovaldi with the Rays. A ~$10M one year deal to C.C. Sabathia could also benefit us with the likely growing pains of our young starters. I don't really want any part of Matt Harvey.
  12. I hope you enjoyed not watching this game.
  13. He's been a godsend since CJ Miles can't hit a f***ing shot, not to mention the fantastic defense. He's the anti-Derozan in every way.
  14. Nope, we're just kicking major ass.
  15. I have no idea if Luis Rivera is a good coach overall or not, maybe he does a great job working with the players, but dear god put someone else at third base to make the baserunning decisions.
  16. I think you're vastly underestimating what Kershaw throwing 90 and getting rocked in the playoffs after back-to-back seasons with serious back injuries which lead to declining velocity and performance meant for his value. He was not getting this good a deal in the open market IMO, this is a high risk/high reward deal for both parties, and if he bounces back he'll still be a 33 year old ace with substantial financial security to do whatever he wants at that point. No one is giving out a 7 year deal to this version of Kershaw in my opinion, certainly not at $25M per.
  17. The defensive value is probably set around the same for all rookies so you're likely only seeing positional adjustment plus some fixed mean UZR score. Even if his defense was not good that's still a projected 4-win 20 year old rookie lmao.
  18. I wonder how much 2-3 years of Andrew McCutchen would cost. We could really use some stability in the outfield to go along with Grichuk and hopefully not Pillar.
  19. That's impossible to read Spank, lol.
  20. Clearly he loves it so much in Toronto that he never wants to leave!
  21. That arm is no joke.
  22. I think it was pretty clear that this version of Kershaw should not have been pitching a third time through the order, but the Dodgers' pitching staff including the relievers were running on fumes and their chances were pretty bleak as is so they just didn't really care at that point after the brutal game 4 loss.
  23. I'm sure many said the same thing about Paul George and OKC. The truth is we know nothing about Leonard or his inner circle, he's probably one of the most unpredictable personalities in the league. If you can even improve your chances at keeping a player of his caliber by 5% you do whatever you can as long as it doesn't crumble the franchise like what is happening with the Timberwolves.
