  1. I think it's evident that they were willing to put up every prospect for trade based on some high ranking ones - whether by industry publications or internally - being moved. Whether anyone came close to matching the values for their internally top ranked prospects - Yesavage, Nimmala, King, etc. is another story. I'm sure they valued Stephen and Rojas highly and they received some valuable pieces back as a result. Perhaps Yesavage was in play for Joe Ryan but the Twins asked for other top pieces back. Maybe other teams had interest in Nimmala but the team balked at the value they would have received in return.
  2. It's been reported by Sportsnet and TSN so definitely legit. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/report-blue-jays-promoting-rhp-trey-yesavage-to-triple-a/ Also confirmed by the Bisons themselves
  3. Sorry, but did you think Tommy Nance was a better option after the leadoff walk in the 9th? I don't know about you, but I'd probably take my chances that Hoffman figures it out over praying that Tommy Nance somehow dominates the Dodgers lineup with men on in a high stakes situation. Just because Hoffman totally s*** the bed with his command doesn't mean he might have been one mound visit away from being by far the best reliever we had available. Once Ohtani's spot became a guarantee to come up, you had to ride Hoffman out until you could use the lefty, it is what it is. Here are the possible alternatives: 1. Hoffman walks leadoff hitter. Bring in unknown Tommy Nance with a runner on over hoping your ~second best reliever with strikeout stuff figured it out. Total hindsight move. Much higher chances that Hoffman pulls it together and dominates from here than Tommy Nance not blowing it up. 2. Hoffman walks first two. Bring in Nance, guaranteeing Ohtani comes to bat with a very favourable matchup and at least one runner in scoring position. Reminder that Dodgers would gift us an out, but would take the possibility of a double play away in doing so. Lose-lose situation either way whether you keep Hoffman or bring in Nance. At least in the latter situation, you could bring in Fluharty to face the lefty when necessary. 3. With the likely possibility of the Dodgers at least tying the game, you're now down to one reliever in the bullpen entering the 10th, your odds for winning the game crater at this point.
  4. And even with pitch 1, Fluharty has such excellent tunneling that pitch 1 doesn't rule out the possibility of him following it up with a backdoor sweeper that starts identical but moves a few inches more to clip the corner. Betts being jammed is totally a result of this kind of tunneling and the guessing game, you'd almost never expect that an inside pitch won't just be a sweeper that dives inside off the plate. This was especially evident from the previous AB where Ohtani looked totally overmatched anytime Fluharty threw the "hard" stuff inside and followed it up with nasty sweepers low and away.
  5. This. The main reason Hoffman wasn't pulled has nothing to do with this nonsense about "he's your horse and you gotta trust him", you just simply can't burn another reliever there if the game might go to extras and you only have one more pen arm remaining. Hoffman walks the first guy in the 9th and you're cringing a bit but there really isn't much you can do, you have to hope he pulls it together. Luckily the Dodgers inexplicably gifted us an out, at which point you kind of have to hope either Hoffman pulls it together or you save Fluharty for the lefty. John Schneider was in a very s***** spot once he pulled Yariel and Hoffman didn't have it.
  6. Why do all your arguments sound like a child saying "no u"? Embarrassing man. It's not all about the Blue Jays. Anyway, the Astros if healthy are a much scarier team IMO. Alvarez, Altuve, Correa (again), Paredes in the playoffs is a nightmare. Brown and Valdez are two top of the rotation studs, Abreu and Hader at the back half are nasty. Scary team if everyone is healthy come the playoffs.
  7. Not buying all this hype about the Mariners. They obviously improved with the Suarez and Naylor additions, so the lineup is definitely deeper but it's not some powerhouse idk. The rotation is good but it's never as good as it seems because Safeco is such a pitcher's haven. Their best starter Woo is 21st in league fWAR. Would much rather face this rotation than the Phillies gauntlet of Wheeler-Sanchez-Suarez-Luzardo. The bullpen's top arms - Munoz, Brash, Speier (I guess?) are quite good but there's no depth behind them. Overrated team IMO.
  8. He didn’t hit it in the sweet spot of the bat, only 96 mph EV.
  9. It’s only really a must win to secure the best record in the AL.
  10. They have 7 hits lol, it’s just been a matter of bad luck/sequencing. Not like they’re rolling over against Kershaw, mostly good ABs.
  11. If John Olerud started his career in 2010 he would be Joey Votto lite. Cito was platooning him while he was consistently running OBPs near .400 lol. He probably gets a little more playing time and ends his career above 60 fWAR cruising to a Hall of Fame selection with us!
  12. Hard to mention Bautista and Donaldson without also bringing up Edwin Encarnacion. Just as capable a hitter as them, and just a wonderfully loveable guy all around. Those 3 guys made up the most formidable heart of the lineup in team history, IMO.
  13. This has been making the rounds a lot, but while the original matchup is indeed very cool, this is not the second time they’ve ever faced off in the regular season. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/clayton-kershaw-and-max-scherzer-historic-pitching-matchup.html
  14. Bringing in Barger for the platoon advantage on an 8-1 game against the Rockies certainly seems like major overkill.
  15. People really doubted Ty France in Coors lmao.
  16. That's a former number one overall pick to you sir.
  17. Y'all were really hating on my guy Ty France who is SOLIDIFYING the middle of the order today.
  18. Gausman spamming the slider against righties. I get mixing it up but I'd probably rather see him get beat on his two best pitches with men on.
  19. France putting up an absolute clinic in reaching base.
  20. Crushed, just like that it goes from a quick inning to a quick 3 runs.
  21. Vetrin presents from France to take that HBP with minimal damage.
  22. Schneider demolished that, just missed a leadoff bomb. Probably makes it to third if he tries it but no need to take the risk that early in the contest. Edit: apparently that's gone in 29/30 parks lol. Although with the elevation in Coors I'm sure the ball doesn't carry as well everywhere else, so taking that with a grain of salt.
  23. And then you're gonna get s*** on by Ernie, Springer and Davis Schneider. Varsho if healthy is starting every game in the playoffs, the defense is too good and he can run into one against a lefty. Add Springer and Kirk into this lineup and it looks much better already.
  24. Franchise highest win totals since '92-93: 2015 - 93 2022 - 92 2021 - 91 2023 / 2016 - 89 1998 - 88 2006 - 87 Projected win totals in 2025: 92. Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro will have overseen 3 and a potential 4 out of the best years the franchise has seen since its best years lol. "Beta Ross" they say, pfft.
  25. Exactly what I was thinking. Go 6 deep and give the older dudes some extra rest, drop one come the playoffs, or like move Berrios into a bulk role.
