  1. Also no one is saying Vlad needs to drop to under 200 lbs, that would be ridiculous. Josh Donaldson is easily around 210-220 and he's in excellent shape, Vlad is probably hanging around 250 at least with chunky legs and a gut, that's unacceptable.
  2. Sort of cherry picking here, but among qualified hitters in the GCL, Orelvis Martinez is: 1) The only 17 or 18 year old with an ISO over .200, 8 hitters total have accomplished this 2) One of three 17 year olds with a wRC+ over 100, the others are Victor Mesa Jr. (127 wRC+) - not to be confused with his brother Victor Victor Mesa - and Andrick Nava (110 wRC+) of the Phillies. Martinez will likely have his wRC+ close or surpassing Mesa after this game, as his currently sits at 121. Hiraldo cherry picking, among qualified hitters: 1) 5th lowest K-rate 2) 11th highest wRC+ in the league, the next closest 18 year old has a wRC+ of 108. Only two 19 year olds are above him and they're both within a point of his wRC+
  3. As a mod (and yes I know you're not particularly fond of the title) I don't understand why you continually respond to known trolls who are just looking for attention.
  4. Late 20s is extremely optimistic and early 30s is just flat out misguided. He's awful right now, and guys like Pujols and Miguel Cabrera were moved full time to first base when they were 24 and 25 respectively, and both of those guys were substantially more athletic and in better shape earlier in their careers than Vlad Jr. currently is. At this rate Vladdy will be a full-time 1B when he's 22 or 23, and one could argue that if he doesn't lose a significant amount of weight this offseason that the transition should begin this next Spring Training.
  5. Jonathan Davis has played more MLB games and received more PAs than Brito and Hanson this year. All of these guys were with the team for a few weeks, I don't know where this perception that you have that Brito and Hanson got extended looks comes from. Initial impression I guess? Those guys were god awful at the beginning of the year whereas Davis was god awful the month following that. They've gotten exactly the same "looks".
  6. I just don't really think he can come close to 90-95 wRC+, that's a high bar to set for someone who's never displayed high level contact or power skills. Even Pillar who wasn't young for his levels by any means was performing better than Davis in AAA in his age 24 and 25 seasons, and he had consistently hit at every minor league stop with no repeating the level adjustment, displaying pretty good contact skills - really low K rate, high average, high BABIP.
  7. He's not even close to Fisher, because all of those performances came at non-prospect relevant ages. Here's his age in those seasons 2015 A+: 23 2016 A+: 24 2017 AA: 25 2018 AA/AAA: 26 2019 AAA: 27 Here's Fisher for comparison: 2015 A: 159 wRC+ - 21 2015 A+: 124 wRC+ - 21 2016 AA: 132 wRC+ - 22 2016 AAA: 124 wRC+ - 22 2017 AAA: 147 wRC+ - 23 2018 AAA: 113 wRC+ - 24 2019 AAA: 124 wRC+ - 25 They are not in the same stratosphere as assets. Fisher was dominating AAA by the time Davis was starting to figure out A+, and the latter's performance in AAA is not nearly good enough to question whether he's had an improvement in baseline talent level and thus should be given a further look. There's a reason why it took 3 pieces, albeit 3 mediocre pieces at that, to acquire Fisher and why Atkins gave a glowing interview about him and what they think he can become. He has big tools and has hit at every level while being younger than the average player in those leagues, except in the MLB where he's had limited opportunities and will only be turning 26 a day from now. He's an exciting piece to acquire for expendable assets given his enticing potential and years of cheap control.
  8. Brito is probably better than Jonathan Davis lol. Better minor league numbers (age appropriate), comparable speed, probably not far off defensively. They were both horrendous in their time in the majors, so if you're gonna bash Brito for being a bum then Davis should get no different treatment.
  9. It's embarassing just how much we're underperforming our PRs. We're not exactly inactive owners here.
  10. I can't tell if this post is sarcasm or not.
  11. I didn't realize his LD and IFFB rates had been that excellent. His biggest problem for sure appears the be the called strikeouts, some of which are a result of his good eye and approach making him take borderline pitches (many times outside the zone) and his heavy pull propensity/the shift. He's also had a very average exit velocity, so he might just not be hitting the ball quite hard enough to beat this last factor, but with his good approach you can hope he can either improve on that or increase the aggressiveness a tad.
  12. Yes, whom he also has a higher BABIP than.
  13. Nice, the classic "no u" response. Very creative as usual with your insults.
  14. Gio Urshela had a higher or even remotely close BABIP to this season in his minors career once, in 150 PAs in 2018.
  15. Yeah him having a higher BABIP than Trout, Bellinger by 60 points each, Yelich, Bregman, Rendon, Michael Brantley, etc. is totally normal and sustainable. Higher BABIP than Mike Trout, Joey Votto and Paul Goldschmidt in their careers, Jose Altuve's peak years, etc. Oh right, but I'm not accounting for Urshela's blazing speed, coming in at *checks notes* 44th percentile in sprint speed. Yup.
  16. He's putting Urshela (player against another good player, Jose Altuve. Just ignore that 60 point gap in BABIP.
  17. I mean, f*** that kid for that batting stance. And I'm pretty sure just because he's standing like that it doesn't automatically make the strike zone disappear so whoever told him to do that is an idiot.
  18. Damnit, ground-rule double f***ed us, Biggio was almost at third by the time the ball went over the fence.
  19. Bo and Vlad are making these shots seem easy. Those pitches are not easy to hit, let alone drive out 380+ feet.
  20. Fisher lost it in the lights but gruber is gonna have a field day with this one.
  21. Honestly that banging his bat against the dugout thing must be annoying as f***. I don't even blame the umps for that, he can't keep doing that every time he feels like throwing a hissy fit.
  22. Not that his post is any less stupid, but the best defensive catcher in baseball is Austin Hedges and it appears that it's not even close. I wouldn't definitively say Jansen is the second best either, although he's certainly in that tier and you could argue for a number of players there.
