  1. The throw was bad obviously but I think McGuire also rushed it thinking the play was gonna be closer, that's a ball he should have come up with even after having to jump for it.
  2. Grichuk played that perfectly, nice hustle.
  3. That's probably not gonna help Reese buy us some calls later on in the game.
  4. Which idiot keeps muting the crowd and background noise? Come on Sportsnet FFS.
  5. The Seattle/BC crowd is electric as usual for the Jays.
  6. The Braves just asked Charlie Culberson to bunt Billy Hamilton over to second, one of the best base stealers in the league...NL baseball is the worst.
  7. I can pretty much guarantee that the players weren't clamouring for plain black and plain white jerseys where you can't even read their nicknames.
  8. 27.1 ip 23 k 2 bb (!!!!) 22 h 4 hr
  9. DeGrom has 12 strikeouts in 6 innings and now a homerun as his team's only run of the game. Talk about doing it all.
  10. In baseball news, deGrom is on a ridiculous level of dominance currently. He's just mowing down the Braves.
  11. The uniforms are awful. Whoever commissioned, designed and approved these made a spectacular failure and went completely against the spirit of Players' Weekend.
  12. Yeah the team with the white uniforms has the pitchers wearing black hats. The black uniforms are all black for everyone.
  13. My god what a f***ing stud.
  14. That would be great except you can barely see the team logos, the players' numbers and their nicknames on the white jerseys which have white font. Big time failure.
  15. Huh? deGrom is wearing a black hat contrary to every other player on the field. Matz in the dugout is also wearing a black hat.
  16. Also the pitchers are wearing black hats whereas the position players are wearing white hats, what's up with that?
  17. The players' weekend jerseys being all white and all black was a horrible decision. Not only are they incredibly plain, which goes against the whole concept of Players' Weekend being about the players showing their personalities, but they're simply ugly as f***.
  18. The Dodgers are just too f***ing good.
  19. Unreal performance from Waguespack against one of, if not the best team in the league.
  20. A projection system claiming Jansen will be very good from now until the season isn't showing all potential, it means that it evaluates him as presently being very good.
  21. Oh I wasn't really arguing against that, just that it's disingenuous to remove guys who played for our team and were replaced with better players and claim that without the former we've been a bottom 4 team. I agree, the core has some players which are/will be very good but it's not totally consolidated. We need someone like Teoscar to continue playing anywhere close to his second half performance, second half Grichuk to show up for more than half the season, Gurriel to continue a level close to this season's performance, or one of Fisher/McKinney to break out (or at least be average). Then there's Vlad's defense not being a tire fire, Biggio showing some more in-game power, and acquiring a replacement for Smoak. The core has the potential to be very good but has a lot of question marks, at the very least we know that every team in baseball would kill to have Bo and Vlad, and we've got those two studs for the foreseeable future.
  22. He's a top 10 defensive catcher and projects by Steamer to be a top 10 offensive catcher from now until the end of the season, which is supported by his xWOBA which indicates he's closer to a league average hitter than what he's currently been. Danny Jansen is literally very good, right now, compared to the rest of the catchers who are the players we should be comparing him to.
  23. You can't just take away Galvis and Sogard, because they're being directly replaced by guys like Bichette and Biggio. If we're gonna do cherry picking like this then I'd point out that the Jays have the 14 highest position player WAR in August, with Bo playing full-time, ahead of the Rays, Phillies, Brewers and Cardinals.
  24. Danny Jansen is the 13th most valuable catcher in baseball despite underperforming both his projections and xWOBA significantly, he's now provided 2.3 WAR since he debuted last season in a season's worth of games (125 games). He really is quite good presently, and should only get better once his hitting regresses to the mean.
  25. I'm outing and potentially losing myself a fantasy sleeper, but this guy's K rate is nuts and too good to not bring to other people's attention. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa915662&position=P That's right, 55 strikeouts in 23 innings. He's striking out over 50% of hitters, and even though he's also walking a batter per inning in AAA, his K-BB% is still an absurd 29%.
