  1. Just because the often replacement 2B has been another elite defender in Ernie Clement doesn’t make Giménez’s defense any less elite.
  2. Smart play from Ernie to secure the sure out. Let Max take care of the next hitter.
  3. Common Jonn nonsense reactionary post. “Unremarkable” lol 8 OAA in less than half a season.
  4. Gimenez’s exceptional range coming back to bite him there. Doesn’t help that Bo is moving like a truck out there these days.
  5. Unfortunately for them he might legitimately be one of their best hitters lol.
  6. lmao Even the Pirates don't wanna deal with the fallout of this idiot's antics.
  7. The K/BB is bad, he's a big time chaser, literally 1st percentile in chase rate. Combine that with 20th percentile whiff rate and the profile has some major holes where I can definitely believe this could be a career year. Pitchers will simply stop throwing him strikes after this season, and he'll continue being vulnerable against LHP. The Little AB the other day was the most obvious K situation ever, just spamming breaking balls low and away and he couldn't help himself. On the bright side, the raw power might be better than expected? He doesn't have top end exit velos but he's been much better at getting to his power. It's the Javier Baez package, CF edition. Take away a grade or grade and half of raw power and maybe add a grade of speed and half a grade of defense give or take.
  8. Best ever seems a bit hyperbolic with KK's best seasons as you mentioned, not to mention Andruw Jones' best years in the late 90s. Don't sleep on Franklin Gutierrez's 2009 year either. Byron Buxton had 26 OAA in 2017 apparently. The younger Billy Hamilton also had some pretty insane defensive seasons. Of course that's not even getting into the old timers pre UZR era.
  9. Evan Carter's back might be broken so he has a bit of a pass. He's at least put up a better season than last year, although health wise he's still hardly played this year.
  10. He's too young and still hits the ball hard to claim he's a finished product at this point. The likelihood of him being a superstar has gone down, but there's still multiple time All-Star potential in there. He's underperforming his xwOBA this year, and the projections view him as a ~115 wRC+ hitter, at age 23. He's already a good player and with potential to unlock some more performance. Needs to get the injuries in check though.
  11. Fantastic stuff by the bullpen, just downright filthy, dominant stuff.
  12. Doubtful he gets him anyway on an outside breaking ball.
  13. Too many lefties were due, Busch in particular.
  14. 2nd just also seems like a poor position for him since his biggest struggles are ranging to his right side. I feel like he's best suited for 3B next to an excellent SS partner with range like Gimenez? His arm strength has also cratered, but maybe if he spends the entire offseason on a throwing program he can get back to around average? It's easy to see his foot speed and athleticism declining, but surely he hasn't also blown out his arm at age 27 as he's getting beefier and stronger...right? Right?
  15. I actually think this has been a thing for a while. You can't change your motion halfway through an AB. So now it's customary for the pitcher to let the ump know with a runner on third.
  16. It’s not like the Cubs haven’t had their share of warning track flyouts. Our offense has had a couple of those but definitely not hitting the ball nearly as hard.
  17. Brutal throw from Kirk on the pitch out.
  18. The xBA in this game is .316 for the Cubs and .146 for us. Not sure what game you’re watching. The Cubs have been drilling line drives all game long.
  19. Horton is absolutely carving us up. Stuff looks filthy.
  20. For the Cubs or for the Jays? It’s been 3 hitters if you mean for the Jays lol.
  21. I mean, not saying he should have elite numbers instead, but he's a 23 year old rookie who was a top prospect with big K numbers in the minors. Agree to disagree sure, but I actually do think there's hidden K potential in there between the minor league rate and the fact that he is getting chase and whiffs at the MLB, and I'm sure the Cubs think so as well. Just saying I wouldn't sell him short as the stuff might be better than the numbers have been showing.
  22. Actually, Horton is underperforming his whiffs if anything. 60th percentile chase rate with a 66th percetile whiff rate. So he's got sneaky good stuff, it just hasn't been translating into strikeouts. With that said, he should provide a similar look to Ben Brown who we had no issues avoiding the swing and miss against.
  23. Kinda nuts that Lauer debuted at 23 back in 2018 and he's still arbitration eligible heading into the 2026 season lol.
