  1. To say that Polanco and Machado are a wash is completely idiotic. Machado has been an excellent hitter for years now with elite peaks and substantially more counting stats, and obviously is far more proven than Polanco who just had a nice breakout year. The best part is that even after that, Machado is only a year older than Polanco, so you can't even use that argument to your advantage.
  2. Well his guaranteed money only ended in 2018 but yeah you're right. I imagine with the marijuana stuff (which is stupid but it is what it is) and related attitude issues he's just seen as too much trouble for what it's worth.
  3. Well it worked out well for Jon Singleton who was younger, a better hitter and cheaper so I can see why the M's would jump at the opportunity to replicate that deal before it was too late.
  4. Typical of the Rockies to let a guy like Ramos go away for nothing while they have Daniel Murphy and his -0.2 WAR (projected 0.4 for next year) to clog up a position for them.
  5. And instead of protecting him, the Mariners decided to claim this guy https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=15605&position=P instead and keep him on the 40-man roster. What a well run organization.
  6. McGuire the last two seasons has hit as well (which is to say, not well at all) in AAA as Jansen has in the MLB, a far larger sample than his MLB showing where he's somehow put up a 130 wRC+. Both have elite defense, Jansen should be the better hitter so it should still be him at the top of the depth chart. At worst they're a catching pairing who give you ~2-3 wins despite a 75 wRC+ so it's probably fine if they both can't hit although I really would expect Danny to rebound.
  7. I don't think Zack Collins is even a catcher, probably a 1B/DH which isn't saying much since he's not a great hitter. Scouts really didn't like his defense and he was a butcher in limited time in the MLB, doesn't bode well for him.
  8. Took Grandal long enough to get a deserved longer contract worth decent money, though he'll likely outproduce the value of the deal again. Good for him.
  9. The NBA has rampant tampering going on throughout the season, that's why everyone signs for huge contracts the minute free agency opens up, even though teams and agents aren't allowed to be talking to one another before this happens. The offseason is then a slog just like the MLB's until a handful of trades and contract extensions are made days before the next season begins as teams try to figure out the cap situation.
  10. Rockies super bullpen v2.0
  11. Odorizzi accepted his qualifying offer already, I'm pretty sure Toronto's interest in signing him as a free agent has gone down significantly. Can we close this thread please?
  12. I just don't really understand how you don't see the distinction lol. During a game, assuming no one on base and the pitcher not tipping his pitches, the catcher is putting down signs under his crotch, no one but the pitcher is supposed to be seeing that. It's a significant competitive advantage for the hitters to know what every pitch being thrown is, that's why everyone makes a huge deal when a pitcher is tipping pitches because they usually tend to get shelled as a result. There is a big difference between a coach studying game tape to see if the pitcher/catcher have any tells and the use of instantaneous technology to communicate to the dugout and subsequently hitters what pitch is coming next. Half the battle for hitters is guessing which pitch will be thrown next. If you can figure that out because the pitcher lowers his elbow prior to a curve then good for the hitters to pick up on it, and shame on the pitcher. I think there's a line between being clever and straight up cheating in a way which is against the integrity of the game, the competitive chess game between hitter and battery. The Astros, and seemingly any other team employing live technology to relay pitches, are on the wrong side of the line, and I think they should be punished for it.
  13. Our scouting department is incredible. Matt Thomas looks great on the offensive end, Boucher, Davis are hidden gems who continue to make an impact. Can't wait for Dewan Hernandez to show what he's got after some seasoning in the G-League.
  14. FFS, elbow right to the eye where he got poked by Kawhi. What are the odds.
  15. OG looking impressive out there.
  16. Lmao Gasol passing up the open putback layup to OG right behind him. The guy is addicted to passing.
  17. Yeah, and don't even get me started on him attempting to finish with his left hand lol.
  18. Lol @ Norm missing an open layup in transition. He can be insanely frustrating even when he's playing well.
  19. Yeah he dunked once this season. At this point in his career though he's so unathletic and his legs must be so spent that it's probably better that he doesn't try for his own sake.
  20. It's impressive just how bad connorp's and Boxy's teams are this early into the season.
  21. And then he has consecutive brainless plays lol.
  22. Norm is such an enigma. All of a sudden he starts off this game aggressive and making shots.
  23. Yeah I agree with you on all points you made, I'm just not sure Redick is that much of an improvement for our rotation even if we could use the outside shooting, and while Norm's contract is pretty bad I don't think we'd have to tack on to it to get rid of him.
  24. Lol @ the Braves.
