  1. Why? Yamaguchi has been good.
  2. I imagine barring a 4 HR performance the plan was always to DFA Vogelbach, attempt to sneak him through waivers and fix him at the alternate training site. I am so glad to have Drury removed from the 40-man roster, my god was that ever overdue.
  3. Musgrove, but I have a feeling the price for him was higher than Williams. 3 years younger and coming off a 3.3 WAR season in 170 innings.
  4. What did you guys expect we were giving up? Stripling is a good pitcher with two more seasons of control after this one. It was never going to be a couple of no-name prospects, someone decent had to go.
  5. I think I read that teams can choose if they want players to do covid intake testing when they arrive with their new team. So whereas Vogelbach took a while to be added to our active roster, Walker I believe got a start right away. I could see us holding back on one or more of Ray and Stripling since they'll be replacing arms which we may use in the next couple of days - as long as their scheduled start days don't come up - while Villar might be immediately available tonight.
  6. I think it's hard to say how much of that is luck vs. talent level though. To use an extreme example, Josh Hader last season was 9th percentile in EV and hard hit%, and 1st percentile in barrel %, he was getting completely crushed when hitters would make contact. Of course the Hader comparison stops there because making contact is nearly impossible against him, but this season he's back to allowing soft contact, but that's resulting in a 4.51 xFIP. So was Hader unlucky last year when hitters made contact, is he getting lucky this year? Font is getting fewer whiffs than last season which is definitely a concern, but he's still getting strikeouts and the stuff looks good. Maybe he's just a hittable gas can who got lucky last year, or maybe he's getting unlucky on good pitches this season? His body of work would suggest it's the former but I don't think we have enough studies into pitcher quality of contact to truly say one way or the other.
  7. Gallo is a freak of nature. You won't find a more extreme outlier than guys like him and Miguel Sano.
  8. Luis f***ing Rivera strikes again. Gurriel was looking at him the whole way. It wasn't close, that's all on Rivera.
  9. Hey look, a batted ball can move a runner over too! Who would have thought?
  10. Most likely Espinal will be out for Villar since he has options and the latter can and has played SS.
  11. A big power, high strikeouts, old for his level player is exactly the definition of a lottery ticket in prospect terms.
  12. Joe Panik is a professional hitter.
  13. 2 of them against a lefty no less, which we already know he's horrible against.
  14. Not a fan of the steal attempt but that's a slick slide. Ruiz didn't know what hit him.
  15. He most definitely is not better a 3rd time through the order.
  16. By the eye test Grichuk has been a rock in CF.
  17. Panik showing signs of life just as improvements are coming to the roster is a pretty ideal scenario.
  18. 5 excellent innings from Anderson. Knowing Montoyo's MO and the fact that the third time through the lineup is coming up I have to imagine that's it for him.
  19. If everyone is healthy probably Shoemaker. If Pearson comes back and shows his real self it could be him. Taijuan Walker probably next in line.
