1. I honestly think teams like to play chicken with the DFA game. "Go ahead, take our s***" and this just goes on until the player passes through waivers unclaimed or some dummy team ends up wasting the 40-man spot (or a 60-day IL stint happens) on the garbage that no one wants to keep around. Wouldn't even be surprised if Payamps gets DFA'd again before the end of ST. A Porcello signing for example would once again make him the odd man out. It's clear the team likes him enough to put in a claim but not enough to waste the roster spot on him over other options.
2. Andrew Friedman can't keep getting away with this.
3. I have two remaining picks which can be skipped, farm is full.
4. Rays are still better. The Brewers have Narvaez at catcher who has rated as one of the worst in the sport, Kiermaier > everyone, Margot is quite good himself, Adames > Arcia, Choi/Yandy Diaz > Keston Hiura at first (lol), Wendle is excellent throughout the infield. Not sure how Randy rates as a LF but he's probably equal to if not better than Yelich. The Brewers really only have an advantage with Wong at 2B and at best slightly better at CF/RF with Cain/JBJ versus KK/Margot.
5. Exactly. 6'6 is huge and Manoah is built like a tank. He would look skinny at 230-240. It could be, maybe the team gave some recommendations for the players/prospects in the offseason in terms of workouts, but a lot of it is on the players. Many guys now in the offseason will go to private facilities or just generally do workouts on their own so I'd attribute most of this success to Manoah's work ethic.
6. Assuming his body has changed, which I guess from that ST angle it looks like it to some extent - jersey is far baggier though and you can still spot a bit of a gut - then this picture above isn't of a 260 lbs man.
7. Greg Bird was on track to become a pretty good big leaguer if he wasn't made of glass. Guy could rake.
8. Does he? If he's a true 6'6 then I'd have no issue believing he's still 260. He's a large lad and it's not even like he's some bumbling fool, dude looks pretty athletic moving off the mound.
9. We should do this regardless honestly. 12 hour windows are awful.
10. I'd probably guess his fastball just had good movement for some of them.
11. How come Speedy drafted an MLB guy? Was that to basically skip the rest of his picks going forward?
12. Tork is still the industry consensus 1-1. Even if you like Martin more on fit I think you have to take Tork and trade him if you desire, his value is simply greater. Or trade down to 1-2 and get an extra asset for the 1-1 if that's on the table.
13. Fixed. You have to go to commish setting in the draft room -> Adjust/Trade Draft Pick -> Choose Draft Pick and set the team to None to skip it.
14. If I knew how to skip JG34 it would've been done by now lol.
15. Who said anything about 2020 affecting their timeline (it probably did though tbh)? Even under normal circumstances Martin was finishing at best in AA, Groshans would've gotten no further than A+ and Martinez would've likely not even touched A+ unless he was extremely advanced. Those ETAs are the reasonable projections. Groshans hasn't played actual competitive live games since early 2019. Martinez just turned 19 and hasn't been touted as a Tatis/Vlad/Acuña/Soto level prospect that we can expect him to shoot through the minor leagues. Even a 2023 debut puts him as a 21 year old rookie like Bo, a very good prospect, was. Kirk had a long sample and success at A+, so realistically he was starting 2020 in AA with a shot at making the bigs near the end of the season if he had a strong showing there, which is exactly what happened except with his success coming at the alt site.
16. Lol no. These guys aren't close at all to each other in terms of ETA to the majors. Martin will hopefully be MLB ready by end of 2021. Groshans will hopefully have reached AA and will begin there next year with an outside chance of deserving a look in September 2022. Orelvis Martinez will possibly have reached A+, mayyyybe he'll be really advanced and catch up to Groshans. It pretty much goes:

Player: ETA

Austin Martin End of 2021/Early 2022

Jordan Groshans 2023

Orelvis Martinez Late 2023/2024

17. You've never heard of Odubel Herrera? He's been in the league long enough to outplay his prospect status and breakout, get extended, crash back to earth, and get cancelled.
18. I think they should be acknowledged by the draft room.
19. Travis Bergen will never leave us. Whatever we do to get rid of him, he'll always come back.
20. I think spin is all about grip and release. Sure you can add foreign substances to the ball to make it behave differently, and maybe Joey Murray is doing that, but I think the spin rate probably has a lot more to do with his arm angle, how he's gripping the ball and how he makes it come out of his hand.
21. The Yankees broadcast definitely just put Jonathon Davis as he came to the plate.
22. Rowdy has smoked the ball twice already.
23. Kay looking sharp.
24. The biggest thing the radio broadcast will suffer from is the existence of Pat Tabler on it. Dan is a pro so he'll make it tolerable and Buck can be fine as the colour guy, but Pat Tabler continuing his streak of adding zero to every broadcast he's a part of will make those people that used to switch from the TV feed to the radio really miss the dedicated radio broadcast.
