  1. Fangraphs has league stats; 93 wRC+ for a 2B and 83 wRC+ for a SS.
  2. #'s show he's reduced his swings at balls outside the zone as well. Using TL's date of July 3rd he's at 20.4 % O-Swing % vs his 2015 O-swing % of 29.3%. That's actually a huge positive adjustment.
  3. When Gibbons was on the radio earlier today he noted that Goins did change his swing but said the biggest difference was he was swinging at better pitches.
  4. They're just projecting their shortcomings on to our lineup. Easy to shutdown a lineup that has 75% of it's offense coming from 3 guys. They've never had a team as deep 1 - 9 as the Jays and can only draw from their anecdotal experiences.
  5. The Jays have scored 2 or less runs in 26 of 109 games (and 41 of 109 games with 3 or less runs scored). There is no reason to think that you can shut down these bats for more than the occasional game.
  6. Probably not too bad for the next ~3 seasons but it's going to get ugly quick
  7. Unless you have tickets for upcoming games.. I'd be far more upset if I bought tickets to the next series and I didn't get to see Tulo or JD bc some punk decided to hit them for petty bs (like the Royals did)
  8. Morally it's the same but fans go to see good players, it's worse for the league when superstars (like JD) miss time
  9. That lineup is beautiful. Still feels like I'm dreaming.
  10. Watch again, his first reaction is to kind of tense up; like he's thinking oh s***, I got him. The ump then takes off his mask and Sanchez realizes he's gone and begins to walk off the field.
  11. Just straightens his legs! haha
  12. 100% should've been tossed. Benches were warned, can't go hit someone after that without getting ejected. If he was going to hit someone though it wouldn't be with a running sinker at the knees, it would've been a 4-seamer and higher. Just completely unfair to then go and suspend the guy after such a mismanaged game by Wolfe.
  13. They definitely could've fined him
  14. http://giant.gfycat.com/CloseDisguisedFieldmouse.gif Look at the arm-side run on that pitch. It almost starts in the zone (almost). I find it highly unbelievable that Sanchez was trying to run it a foot in to his hip.
  15. The benches were warned. It doesn't have to be an intentional HBP for an ejection at that point.
  16. Me too. If everyone was suspended I'd move on but to single out Sanchez is a joke.
  17. Ya, but he threw behind a guy. He deserved it.
  18. It's only what happens in situations with clear intent. That wasn't the case.
  19. There is nothing in the rulebook to suggest a mandatory suspension; The pitcher shall not intentionally pitch at the batter. If, in the umpire's judgment, such a violation occurs, the umpire may elect either to: Expel the pitcher, or the manager and the pitcher, from the game, or may warn the pitcher and the manager of both teams that another such pitch will result in the immediate expulsion of that pitcher (or a replacement) and the manager. If he's suspended it's because of clear intent and there was none on this play. The lower half makes a big difference, the higher the ball the greater risk of injury. And even in the MLB rulebook it says; "To pitch at a batter's head is unsportsmanlike and highly dangerous. It should be - and is - condemned by everybody. Umpires should act without hesitation in enforcement of this rule." So JD can be headhunted without retribution even though it is condemned by the league, yet a sinker gets away from Sanchez and he's suspended? it's BS.
  20. The warning warrants an ejection, why should Sanchez be suspended?
  21. Gibbons was the only one should've been suspended. Even if Sanchez hit him on purpose (and I don't even think it was intentional) it's very uncommon to receive a suspension for plunking a guy on his lower half. If he hit him in the head or threw behind him then sure suspend the kid but this is hypocrisy.
  22. I have a problem with both. Sanchez doesn't deserve a suspension. An ejection, like he got, is more than appropriate IMO.
  23. Not any more intentional than 90% of HBP's that don't lead to a suspension. Complete BS.
  24. No one from within the Jays' organization would say that publicly. It's been in the media since the last deadline. It came up again in the off-season and speculation was they only had $5-8M in payroll to add at the deadline. That's what they added. Appearances may not be reality but that is the perception.
  25. Should've looked up the actual number, my bad. That being said $8M per WAR is pretty high. I know it was expected to go up to the $8M-$10M range but haven't investigated to see if it has increased past $5M/WAR (the old standard). Really has nothing to do with that though. Payroll is around $140M, it's hard to justify 1/6th of payroll to a role player like Buehrle when they can get similar players for far cheaper.
