  1. Cueto and Shields aren't that far off but Price is a better player than both of them.
  2. Except Rogers has taken a hard line in the past. Last season there were no deadline acquisitions and by all accounts a large part of that was related to team payroll and an inability to add $. In 2015 I think we saw the same pattern. The Jays had limited funds and it impacted their ability to add players. Luckily, AA was able to get creative and make some deals happen and the money work but I haven't been given the impression that Rogers has greenlighted any additional funds.
  3. In terms of wins per $ it wasn't a bad deal but $22M in 2015 for Buehrle isn't good payroll mgmt. That's 1/6th of payroll for a very good 3/4 pitcher.
  4. I think he's viewed like Buehrle was at the time of the MIA. A useful player that is overpaid bc of the backloaded portion of their deal.
  5. Phillies paid Revere's salary I thought? Might not be any payroll left.
  6. It wouldn't cripple the financials I just don;t think anyone in baseball likes that contract. I just find it doubtful that they would work to move Reyes' contract and finally get out from Buehrle's backloaded deal to just take on another backloaded player-friendly contract. Again, I'd love to see it. He's a great fit IMO and would replace Buehrle nicely when he inevitably walks.
  7. Would love to see it happen but I don't see Rogers taking on that contract.
  8. I'd love to see Billy Beane in a big market front office. Maybe he's tired of running a budget team?
  9. http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/2015/07/24/acc-to-debut-new-scoreboard-this-year.html
  10. Very interesting. Dickey would obviously know what he's tried but if he did increase the velo bc things weren't working he should try and maintain his arm strength through the winter. Maybe get him on that weighted ball program?
  11. $ talks, never say never
  12. We know he was at least looking to make a deal, sometimes there just isn't one to make.
  13. The Dickey deal was the only truly bad deal (and it was terrible). Miami didn't work out but he got the best players in the deal and really didn't give up anything too significant. It was worth the gamble and a damn shame JJ couldn't get healthy. I like that he takes risks though, done deals won't work out but at least he isn't afraid to pull the trigger.
  14. It's just harder to acquire depth then we choose to acknowledge. IMO AA has gotten talent that many of those GMs could only dream of. He's a tireless worker who tries to add elite talent at every opportunity and he drafts/develops well to help augment that approach.
  15. I really don't think half those guys are clearly better than AA. They might be but Alex would be in the conversation
  16. We're talking GMs not front offices. AA is absolutely on their level, Beeston is not
  17. IMO AA is in the same tier as these guys; Beane Shapiro Espstein/Hoyer Silverman Alderson Maybe Cashman Maybe Rizzo Really think he just needs a new president
  18. What 10 GM's are better than AA?
  19. Lineup 1 through 9 is set and they have some depth they can move for pitching. They're in great shape for the next 3 - 5 years
  20. 2016 looks great for the Jays; 1 - Stroman, Hutch, Sanchez, Osuna, Dickey 2 - Martin 3 - Edwin/Smoak 4 - Travis 5 - JD 6 - Tulo 7 - Revere/Pompey/Valencia 8 - Pillar/Pompey 9 - Jose BP - needs a lot of work but will have the low leverage spots covered.
  21. Earned himself an extension over the last 12 months.
  22. Big time durability concerns for Tirado as well, both project as relievers long term.
  23. I know you continue to post, it's obnoxious
  24. He's a lefty with good velocity but he's been hurt a fair bit and has show n zero control. Doesn't look like a SP longterm anymore
