  1. Joe Panik: Starting DH.
  2. I... I don't even know what to do with this? Like, you're mocking the mere possibility that a player with obvious physical skills could have a pretty good year at 28, even though they haven't put it all together before that. How do you reconcile that with the fact that we've seen that exact thing happen many times in the past? I said, if you'll recall, that I could see a scenario where he was as valuable as Grichuk. This is not a high bar.
  3. Get him some Lasik, STAT!
  4. Kikuchi looks super old in that picture...
  5. I guess all there is to do now is hope that he somehow gets considerably better at his job... Dare to dream, folks!
  6. They don't help with launch angle, which is quite clearly Tapia's biggest problem.
  7. Career UZR/150 in CF for Grichuk: -3.6 Career UZR/150 in CF for Tapia: -2.5 Obviously there's a lot of variance in defensive stats, and Grich has played a lot more CF than Tapia in their respective careers, but it's not like we jettisoned prime Pillar fielding for late career Manny Ramirez fielding.
  8. I cannot believe they still have that stupid 1950s Leave It To Beaver ******** in 2022. Get with the times you outdated f***s!
  9. Yes, my point was obviously "every player we get will be worth three wins." This is a very clever post you have made.
  10. Strength isn't Tapia's issue, so this really makes no sense and you should probably delete.
  11. If you think a 28 year old with obvious physical talent putting up a 3.0 WAR season out of nowhere after a change in mechanics or something just "clicking" is just completely out of the realm of possibility then like... Welcome to your first day watching baseball, I hope you enjoy it!
  12. Yeah, "He literally hit a ball harder than he ever has before" is a strong signal that there's at least something there.
  13. SLAPP suits f***ing suck.
  14. IANAL, so I will defer to you on this, I simply note that these sorts of suits by public figures are rarely successful because it is such a high bar. Cursory googling found me this, which seems to mostly be "The Daily Mail sucks so f***ing hard", and that these successes are oftentimes years apart.
  15. I don't even think you're getting the basics of this. It's not "pleading the fifth", or anything remotely like that. There's a very high evidentiary bar for defamation lawsuits filed by public figures, and proving that someone was lying is difficult. "I'm too stupid to understand that; it wasn't a lie, it was my own incompetence" is a perfectly valid defence in cases like this. Barring some Emails where the reporter said something to the effect of "I know this isn't true, but I'm going to tweet it anyway" (which could exist, I guess), it's next to impossible to show that they KNEW they were lying.
  16. I'm not saying I'm not pleased that we picked him up, just that he's not yet going to be a highly rated prospect compared to others in our system. If he plays full season ball in the US this year and does well, he could move pretty dramatically.
  17. That's not relevant at all. What's relevant is proving that the reporter knew that. As Laika pointed out, "the reporter is not a medical professional and has no experience reading CT scan results" is the slam dunk defence here.
  18. This is really easy to say, it's a hell of a lot harder to prove in court. These kinds of suits rarely succeed and are mostly nuisances (Bauer has nothing but money and time right now, and if nothing else he loves trolling people.)
  19. Probably outside of the top 30, for now. If he's top 30, it'd be JUST BARELY. This is a very young kid with very little professional experience, and he doesn't really have a "good body" for traditional scouts to fap to.
  20. Smith can GTFOH, but Palacios still has some potential, IMO. If Fowler ends up on the MLB roster at any point this year I'll be pretty damn pissed off.
  21. 7 years, 3 months, 28 days ago this would have been an interesting move. I 100% do not want to see Dexter Fowler on the 2022 Blue Jays 40 man roster at any point.
  22. There's an incredibly high bar to prove defamation for someone in the public eye. Even if it's 100% true that Bauer did nothing wrong, and they just sat there having tea and she made it up out of whole cloth, it's going to be hard as f*** to win that lawsuit. I mean, there would have to be evidence that the reporter absolutely knew it was a lie, and that's tough evidence to produce. This is why TMZ hasn't been sued into the ground. I don't think the damages matter much, like much of Bauer's entire persona, the lawsuit is performative nonsense.
  23. What the f*** is wrong with you, dude?
  24. Man are these ever well done.
  25. That is a dude who is ready to fight some ham.
