  1. We all know the official board started to die when I left in my blaze of glory... I am the unofficial impetus behind the BJMB!
  2. I could give less than three quarters of a f*** if you're impressed, doesn't change anything. "I still understand how real baseball guys tend to manage their teams." because you used to play in a fantasy league 18 years ago. Understanding of baseball has evolved a LOT in 18 years. Playing ball has nothing to do with this conversation, nobody with any shred of self-awareness buys the "you haven't played the game, so you just don't get it man!" argument (and most of us here - myself included - either have played, or still play baseball.) I'm not challenging your background at all, I'm challenging what you have been saying since you have been posting on this board. The fact of the matter is that you're falling into very silly arguments. Saves are a pointless stat that give you no useful information when evaluating a pitcher, the same holds true of wins and losses (Janssen didn't get credited with the loss in his two blown saves this year, great... but what information do you glean from that?) What the Jays do is also not relevant to this conversation. Ultimately, what they do won't be something that we can ever evaluate properly, because we don't know anything about deals that weren't made, deals that were offered and weren't taken and deals that simply never could possibly have happened. Sure, we'll all be rightfully pissed if AA doesn't trade Oliver, but if no team wanted him at any price then what can be done? As to your "who they should move" point. I'd agree 100% on Bonifacio, I would take almost anything just to have him off the team. Some people around here (The Hurl maybe? I forget now) seem to think that there's a few NL teams that would be interested in him... Johnson probably doesn't net you a return better than the compensation pick at this point, but if some team is willing to offer up a decent prospect/package of prospects for him then sure. Lind is maddeningly inconsistent, but he's a cheap LH bat that can be amazing. He's got a $7M club option for next year, so unless a team pays reasonable value for him, I'd hold on to him until the next trade deadline.
  3. There is no "they" w/r/t the crying in the media, only one of them does that. Also, Buck and Pat gargle the balls of every single team the Jays play so their analysis of the opposing team doing things well means nothing to me.
  4. Since this thread seems to be where we're whining tonight, holy f***balls the board is acting up tonight! Slow as a JPA fangirl and database and php errors galore over here!
  5. Okay, so you're plugging your ears and ignoring the world around you. Excellent choice, I would recommend some undercooked chicken to go with it. I understand that it's difficult to admit when you're wrong, but you're wrong. Just saying that what I'm posting isn't intelligent without actually positing a reason as to why that might be means about as much as telling me that the earth is 6000 years old and that we're all descended from a race of super-powered goldfish because you read it on the back of a napkin you found in a dumpster. You have brought no facts with you, and therefore your argument can be dismissed. You currently have 29 posts on this board. I have read most, if not all, of them. You have offered up some ideas, to be sure, but your presentation methods are lacking and since your ideas are not particularly well supported by facts I (and others) have no interest in taking you seriously as a potential contributor to this forum. You are, of course, welcome to post here as much as you wish - as far as I know, being an insufferable douchecanoe is not as of yet a bannable offence - but don't expect us to treat you as some sort of knowledgeable baseball mind until you can go 30 posts without discrediting WAR because it doesn't reflect how you value the position of closer. In summation, stick around - you might learn something from people who actually do know a fair bit more than you about baseball - but be less of a jackass when you post if mockery is not your desire.
  6. Least favourite posters have all been banned and come back under different names several times by now... My vote would be for that "would you cure gay if you could?" dude.
  7. "All year" includes the last month, you know. Hence the contradiction. Left field is the least important defensive position in baseball. Manny Ramirez was a successful left fielder for years, despite being a circus out there. Incidentally, Melky's line against RHP .288 /.336/.376/.712 (by no means good enough for a left fielder, and I sincerely hope we have a better option for next year) significantly better than Rajai's .250/.295/.288/.583 line. OPS difference of .129. There is no argument that can possibly be made for Davis being the left fielder over Melky with a right handed pitcher on the mound. Not a one. (sure, late inning defensive replacement, but that's it.)
  8. Maybe, and I'm just spitballing here, but maybe you are the one who is wrong in your theories. The only "special breed" one needs to be a great closer is to be a great pitcher, and holding on to Janssen when the possible of getting value for him exists is silly when we have at the very least 3 guys in the pen right now who could take over and do the job as well, or better than he has. If we got a good return, I would happily trade the entire pen. If we could upgrade at C, 2B and SP with "close to ready prospects" (I'm not saying we can, but if we could) I'd trade every last reliever we have, because relievers are not that hard to find. It is much harder to find everyday players and starting pitchers, so if we could use an asset that we have in abundance to get an asset that we desperately need, that's just smart management. I am sure that there are some players who have issue with pressure, but I would guess that most of those are weeded out in the minor leagues. Your cited examples of Francisco and Gregg are simply "pitchers who weren't all that good" not "guys who were good, but couldn't handle closing". It's a very real distinction. The reason that people were "repeatably" (the word you were looking for was "repeatedly", btw) posting based on that phrase is that it perfectly summed up your thought process, and frankly you came off as incredibly arrogant, as though you came here to school all of us with your baseball knowledge, so you earned the mockery and scorn that you got.
  9. I'm well aware of who it is. I am bored and in the mood to lord my superior intellect over those who I have deemed unworthy.
  10. ITT: People voting for themselves.
  11. It took me WAY too long to find this, damn google image search, but... http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/4551/11212002180253zr9.jpg
  12. Either it's been "terrible all year" or "went on too long/happened on numerous occasions". You contradicted yourself a paragraph later. Also, he's not playing Bonifacio anymore, so he's clearly not trying to make him happy, nor is JPA likely happy about batting 8th. Based on? Davis cannot hit right handed pitching. .250/.295/.288/.583 this year, .259/.300/.353/.653 career. He should not be an everyday left fielder. It seems that we more or less agree on the bullpen situation, so no need to quote you there. That's spectacularly dumb. Literally you said "I don't care if it's the right decision, it's the easiest decision, so let's do that!"
  13. Let the campaigning begin! http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/165/1/4/vote_deadpool_by_vedopunk-d53irs6.png
  14. Frankly, I blame Gibbons. He should be fired post haste for not turning all our relievers into ACE RELIEVERS. In a save situation, every one in the bullpen should be on the mound throwing at the same time so they can all learn what it takes to be ACE RELIEVERS.
  15. So is Janssen. Nobody else in our pen could possibly work the 9th inning in save situations because he is the ACE RELIEVER.
  16. Personally, my biggest problem was his "Kevin Millar should bat 4th, he's earned it... Also, f*** dem rookies, they ride the pine until they're 30 and they've earned what Kevin Millar has earned!"
  17. For serious? He was handed a collection of starting pitchers who have been terrible (exactly zero of that can be put on Gibbons). He's managed the bullpen quite well for the most part (I think he's a bit quick with the hook for my taste, but it's not that terrible). He's realized that Bonerface is bad and is barely playing him at all, he's batting JPA and his massive ribeyes down at the bottom of the order, he's barely calling for sac bunts (yay). He's been a very competent on field manager. If you feel that the manager is somehow supposed to stroke everyone's cock until they are better at baseball, then I think you have a pretty weird idea of what a manager is about. Maybe the team should invest in a psychologist as a manager, he can put all the players on couches and ask them about their relationships with mommy...
  18. Cito was the worst f***ing manager I've ever seen. I would take Gibbons after a total frontal lobotomy over Cito.
  19. Man, I'm so f***ing glad you showed up on this board. We were absolutely drowning in ignorance and someone who knows the value of a relief ace is a welcome breath of fresh air! Also, not what I just said!
  20. In John Gibbons' first stint with the Jays he managed 3 full seasons (and parts of 2 more). Of the 3 full seasons he managed, he had winning records in 2 of them (.537 and .512). So, y'know. Maybe you're full of s***?
  21. Give it to Pedroia, he's already got one MVP he didn't deserve!
  22. They grow up on a healthy diet of Communism. Makes men men!
  23. I would have such a massive erection if AA managed both Guerrero and Gonzalez. Even if they didn't pan out, that's the kind of move I want my GM to make.
  24. I am a lot better at several things than JPA is at baseball. That's a really terrible argument. I would wager that most people who have any sort of "career" are better at that career than JPA is at his.
  25. 37 in People years is what in munchkin years?
