  1. Lol at that guy having "published a book" and using the phrase "must of killed". (Sorry, but that's one of those improper phrases that bugs me, like my friend who says "mind as well" instead of "might as well".) Edit: funny comment though.
  2. f***ing LOVE the Obama photoshop
  3. He's low because lefty. Time to bite the bullet and slot JPA in at #9 though.
  4. There is still SO much Chacin left around the Jays clubhouse that they need to get rid of first... http://badwax.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/1986topps-cecilfielder-rookie.jpg
  5. I have this horribad feeling I'm not going to make the playoffs. I must have traded or Dickey in the offseason...
  6. Ever been in the basement of a card store? It's not the torture dungeon you imagine it to be. Oh fond nerd highschool memories.
  7. I just think that the easiest positions should be the ones that you can sacrifice some D to gain a lot of O. 1B and LF are the easiest positions to field, therefore a premium defender isn't required to fill those positions.
  8. Unfortunately, I don't have too many Alpha or Beta cards (a couple here and there, I used to play for ante so I did manage to win a couple), my most valuable card is a Two-Headed Giant of Foriys from Unlimited. (actually, just checked for the first time in a decade, motherf***er has depreciated HUGE. Only worth about $15 now, I guess my Revised Dual-Lands are now the most valuable ones I have...) Upon checking, my Mishra's Workshop from the Antiquities set is apparently worth about $300... Nice.
  9. Nothing direct about it.
  10. Incredibly small sample size, but Reyes should hit enough doubles (and triples) to keep a very respectable SLG over his Jays career. I don't expect him to pile up the homers though. Still need starting pitching that isn't mindbottlingly terrible.
  11. 5Ks in 6 innings for Alvarez? What is this madness?
  12. I'm just going to assume that you're being sarcastic on this one.
  13. You'll note that he made mention of himself being the first Blue Jay to have a tweeter, and adding in the fact that he barely acknowledged the fact that JPA went off against him and I'm fairly sure that if he didn't outright say it, he considers JPA's attacks the attacks of a "dumb brutish animal". His Socrates story perfectly mirrors his reactions to JPA's ranting, does it not?
  14. Gose over Rasmus is just insanity man! COME ON! Cooper is actually a surprisingly accurate comp for Pillar. Both are guys who are limited to a position that needs a really good power bat, and neither of them have/had really good power bats, so neither are viable regular major leaguers.
  15. I didn't completely misread it, I think the bulk of it was a defence of JPA (from the much, much bigger man), but I do think that line in particular was a shot at JPA's attacks on Zaun and Hayhurst.
  16. His OMAA is off the charts! (Oven Mitts Above Average, just so I don't have to write a second post explaining that when someone asks...)
  17. Davis against left handed pitching is a huge asset, but in the end he's a bench player... I'd trade Bonifacio or Melky before Davis, if I had the choice.
  18. Not really anymore. At least where the bat is concerned.
  19. I love Hayhurst's writing, I really need to get a copy of his second book because the first one was awesome. Also, he totally just implied that JPA is a "dumb brutish animal"
  20. Maybe I should get back into Magic, if it makes me a better baseball talent evaluator... Unfortunately, none of my cards are tournament legal anymore since they're all 4th edition and earlier...
  21. See, the difference between our opinions is that I said "below average" and you said "slightly below average" He's no butcher out there, but he's not good by any stretch.
  22. Cleatus' bat plays amazingly in CF, stick him in LF and he becomes a below average bat for the position... Also, he's an amazing CF, his range and most importantly his reads off the bat are phenomenal and his arm is passable for the position. Gose needs to hit his way on to this team, because there is zero reason to displace Colby right now.
  23. I picked a s*** day to miss But I probably would have picked Lind anyway... Today? Edwin.
  24. Bautista's plus skill in the OF is his arm, which is deadly. He's got about average speed and takes well below average routes to the ball. He doesn't have the instincts that Cleatus has, and that is what makes one good and the other below average. His arm makes up for some deficiency (much like Rajai's speed makes up for the fact that he takes terrible routes to the ball and throws at a barely-above-Damon level.) but he is still, as a whole, a below average defender in the OF. As for trading him? Profar ++ and I'd be very, very seriously considering it.
