  1. I posted once during the off-season while I was hammered, people yelled at me, I got frightened (and possibly saw my shadow) and this is my first time back...
  2. That's sort of why he was in the minors for literally 100 years.
  3. Full disclosure: I just came back from the bar, AND I already had my second beer since my return open...
  4. Apparently that was my 2000th post. Let me crack a celebratory beer.
  5. I'm here tonight... I haven't decided if I'm "back" per se... Also... Joey f***ing bats. Nice.
  6. To the "there's more to spending your life with someone than the way they look" place? I think that's a reasonable place to be.
  7. I'm officially using the "thanks" button for all positive feelings I have on posts... I mean, I don't need to thank you for this, but I agree with this and it's the only button I have to choose from!
  8. I'm also going to assume that he, y'know... likes her as a person and such...
  9. She's pretty hot man? I mean, I've seen some unflattering pics of her, but most of the pics I've seen of her look fantastic.
  10. I had that exact same beard in October... Shaved it off to do Movember.
  11. As if I didn't read the other posts... Sorry guys
  12. 46 years? Do you even math bro? (Hint: Jays first game was April 7, 1977...)
  13. It pleases me greatly that these two posts were 19 minutes apart. the D in d'Arnaud is not upper case, however, King. Please stop that!
  14. Well, if you assume 1/4 left handed pitchers then you assume 3/4 starts for a guy who hits RHP well. 3/4 is a pretty decent amount of playing time for a starting catcher, IMO.
  15. Slightly more than 26% of pitchers in the MLB are left handed. I would much prefer someone who hits RHP well over someone who hits LHP well (ideally you want both, but beggars and choosers etc.). He's also seemingly solid defensively. I don't find your argument that he's an AAAA C very compelling, even with the data (including spits, at which I am looking currently) in front of me. Is he an all star catcher? probably not, but judging anyone by a 60 PA sample size is a fool's errand and I disagree with your assertion that he "has been bad his entire career".
  16. It might be a nice complement to the second wild card... At the current deadline almost every team thinks they have a shot at the second WC spot at least, so there aren't many sellers. Maybe by a later date some GMs will come to grips with reality and trade off their 40 something left handed relievers on the brink of retirement...
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wRC+ is also subject to the laws of sample size, and when getting playing time (and not injured) he's been a league average catcher in his career, so I'm not prepared to judge a guy based on a 60 PA sample size, particularly when he's shown that he's been better in the past and he's only 26. Thole has been a solid MLB catcher in the past, and I don't know of any tangible reason why he couldn't be again in the future. He's certainly better than our other options, though I'm not against an upgrade at the position by any means.
