    You're setting yourself up for disappointment by hoping for a Vladdy move to 1st. It's not going to happen this season, it's not going to happen next season, and likely won't happen for a few more seasons after that.

    Are you proposing transparent catchers? That seems like the harder thing to do technologically than a robotic strike zone Man, trying to throw an unhittable strike is the goal of every pitcher right now, the robotic zone isn't magically going to make pitchers better at hitting those spots.

    Last time I paid any attention to the numbers it was $50K/$25K, but it stands to reason that they've raised those numbers since then.

    IIRC, When he was claimed, the Jays got $50K as compensation, when he's returned, they Jays have to give back half of that. Last I remember hearing about this was a few years back, the numbers may have changed since then.

    From the eye test, there's not a player I've noticed being more consistently boned by craptacular "definitely out of the zone" strike three calls than Biggio. I think he'd benefit more than average from #roboumps

    Vladdy Jr. beats Vladdy Sr. in the CherrypickedStats division. If the dinosaurs who currently vote for the HOF aren't dead as f*** by the time he's eligible, he'll be first ballot no problem!

    Yep. I know nothing about him, but he's got 3 options remaining, and seems to have a pretty decent bat (for a catcher) from the left side.

    Agreed, and I'm not saying roll with him for the next 10 years. I don't think we have a suitable replacement for Smoak at this point, and would keep him until we do. I understand that some would roll the dice with Tellez, or that they genuinely feel he's a better bet at 1B going forward, but I'm not one of those people.

    A .726 OPS and a wRC+ of 96 with a BABIP of .211 in the second half isn't want I'd call atrocious, particularly when you're talking a sample size of 26 games. I would much rather have Smoak as our 1B next year over Tellez, I have little faith in Tellez as a long term piece.
