  1. If he wants some completely undeserved gold gloves in his career, he's going to have to learn...
  2. $108.50 per diem is pretty nuts. You have to be a VERY fancy eater not to have that pile up in a hurry.
  3. Yeah, I honestly can't believe there are people who don't run ad blockers in this day and age...
  4. Did roboumps get rolled out for this season, I know that was being talked about, but I haven't heard anything in a while...
  5. If you're looking for a way to get your PC to play on the TV from a distance, look into a Chromecast. They're pretty excellent devices for that sort of thing, and pretty cheap as well.
  6. There was a good amount of hype around McGowan IIRC, but I don't think we've ever had a pitching prospect in the top 10 of most prospect rankings, so Pearson is probably more hyped than ANY past Jays pitching prospect.
  7. If it gets to that point, they'll cancel the season, it'd be a super bad look for the MLB to have 100+ active players out with Covid.
  8. Boras is waiting to get that extra $1000...
  9. I fully disagree with the conclusion of this article... It would be indefensible NOT to keep Pearson down for a week and gain the extra year of control.
  10. It's a LOT easier for a kid to play pickup basketball or football and develop those skills at a young age than it is to find a T-Ball league outside of the suburbs. Inner cities simply aren't equipped to develop the 5 year old kids with the early love of the game, and the basic skills needed to be even prepared for a travel baseball league. I mean, you start travel ball when you are already good enough to start travel ball, you don't just walk on at 12 with no experience playing baseball and hit the ground running... Every school I ever attended, from elementary through high school, had at least one baseball diamond (with that awful gravel, but y'know...) and the ability to play at recess, but those just don't exist everywhere, so those kids who might have been inclined to check out baseball end up using the basketball hoops drilled into the wall of the school and getting their early skills there.
  11. We're just going to pretend that the Bryce Harper hype never happened?
  12. Groshans is the main reason I'd like to see Martin in CF ASAP... He's good enough to move back to 3B if Groshans doesn't pan out (boo on me for even thinking that!)
  13. Signing deadline for draftees is August 1st (IIRC), so even if he waits to the last day to sign, he's still available for the taxi squad for most of the season
  14. 5 rounds makes this thread a lot less fun this year
  15. "The Blue Jays player exhibiting the symptoms is a pitcher on the 40-man roster... He has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results." I mean, unless that tweet was sent moments after the test, apparently they're waiting too...
  16. This is another thing that many of you aren't considering... "Awating results". I had a test a couple of months ago and it takes ~3 days to get the results (no Covid for me, but a severe bacterial lung infection that's caused issues with my internal organs, and I'm still barely functional....)
  17. I thought we frowned on the "everybody gets a trophy" mentality?
  18. Remember when players were told they were no longer allowed to step outta the batters box between pitches? This is s*** these players have turned into a routine over their entire careers, it's going to happen even if they're told not to. I mean, you can pretend that telling them no will stop them, but...
  19. I mean, the balls get tossed around and pitchers lick their fingers constantly... If it gets into a game, it's going to spread around.
  20. What a f***ing stupid statement... We're not in the middle of a global pandemic of drunk-drag racing where people have invisible cars so you can't even tell that they're driving...
  21. Sure can. Just because it kills old people more easily does not mean those are the only people at risk.
  22. And, really, everyone they've been in contact with, not just people who test positive, should also be self-quarantining. I mean, 1 player gets it and visits the club house and the whole team will need to be shut down (unless they're just going to throw caution to the wind and say "f*** it".)
  23. Well, there goes my plan to start a poll of "which team gets hit by an infection first?" once play resumed...
  24. Definitely blame on both sides, the owners keep offering delicious s*** sandwiches, and the players refuse to eat those delicious s*** sandwiches, the ungrateful bastards.
