  1. 200,000 vs the average week before the virus (most recent numbers I could find with a SUPER quick search are from 2011) of 2.1 million.
  2. The "crowd noise" sounds like you're standing next to an industrial fan. I hope that goes away (or is vastly improved) sooner rather than later...
  3. It's almost certain that it was a virus, they're just not sure it was Covid, but given the timing that seems plausible at the very least.
  4. Yeah, it is brutal. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Now, to be fair, we're not 100% sure it was coronavirus (as I haven't been able to get -an antibody test yet), but there is enough damage to my heart that they originally thought it was a heart attack, and they've done just so many tests that ruled that, and everything else out. The "best guess" of my cardiologist is a virus, probably Covid. Regardless, this s*** is awful, and there's an 80% chance that I'll be dealing with it for the rest of my life. Hopefully, it will at least get somewhat better, if not 100% though.
  5. Hotel staff, airline staff, airport staff, bus/shuttle staff, bus terminal staff, every player for however many teams they'll be inviting to the dome, every coach for however many teams they'll be inviting to the dome, every support staff person for however many teams they'll be inviting to the dome... All the families for most of those people (I presume they're not paying to keep Jerry the guy who fills up the bus with gas to live in the hotel away from his family for 3 months...) It's a lot of people. And testing every two days just means that you'll know if someone has it every 2-4 days (depending on how long it takes for test results, the more accurate ones still take longer than the instant ones). In those 2-4 days if someone DOES get it, the entire time could be easily infected.
  6. Whut? Also, y'all f***ers should be happy with everything being done to keep the virus as far away from Canada as possible. It's not fun, even if you survive, 'cause now I have "congestive heart failure" and only a 20% chance of making a full recovery. So thanks virus, I really love all this time I spend with my cardiologist etc...
  7. Yeah, Kirk and Manoah were the ones that struck me as a pretty big overpay. I only really looked at his stats on FG, so I clearly don't have the whole picture of who he is as a player, but it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibilities that he and Teo could put up similar lines, in similar roles in any given year. So yeah, I might move Teo + for him, but not Teo + 2 guys who are actually probably good + a young guy who might end up being a thing...
  8. If he wanted to go FullCanuck it would be @YYZBackCatcher though...
  9. I don't know much about Bryan Reynolds, but that seems like a steep ask...
  10. They're basing it on his -2.9 WAR through age 27. There are myriad stats in baseball, and they found one that qualifies him as "one of the worst" to justify the title.
  11. Dude, you're supposed to call any non-white player "Mexican". It's the Ang rule.
  12. Are you telling me that the movie Mr. Baseball lied to me?
  13. I was making a joke comparing Boras to Monty Burns. Yes, I know Burns ivory back-scratcher was only $500, but that was at least 20 years ago and inflation...
  14. Boras REALLY wanted that ivory back-scratcher...
  15. It's Jeremy Accardo, isn't it?
  16. I am 100% pro Cleveland Spiders. We need more invertebrates represented in team names! (Next up: The Scorpions!)
  17. Thornton for sure, then either Borucki or Kay I would think. Would be interested to see Merryweather, but I don't think he's being considered for the rotation right now...
  18. Also, remember that Gurriel had to sit out quite a while after he defected and was signed, then he managed an injury IIRC, he wasn't playing ball for a while there. Hopefully what we saw after his re-promote was just him having gotten his groove back.
  19. I'm not complaining that the 3 MiLB players on the taxi squad are getting this (on top of their $400/week), it's just a weird bonus to give to MLB players who are already making at least $563,500 (for a regular season), and get at least one meal per day provided at the ballpark.
  20. My only issue with it, and it's really not a bit one at all, is that he's young and I thought he could still improve at 3B. As it stands now without that improvement we're better served with Shaw there, and Groshans or Martin there for the long term. I wouldn't hate to see him still getting reps at 3B during practice.
  21. Oh yeah, he's definitely sent runners that had no business being sent, and I don't recall Butters being as bad, but I honestly can't say for sure... Rivera SEEMS really s***** at that particular skill.
  22. While I also have memories of Rivera being overly aggressive sending runners that had no chance, without an actual statistic measuring that (which, oddly, baseball doesn't seem to have...) it's definitely confirmation bias to suggest that he's worse than any other 3rd base coach.
  23. Run less intrusive ads. If ads were just small, static images I'd have no issue with them. Once they are animated, have sound, or pop up a new window, they can f*** off. Let's not even get into how easy it is for ads to contain malicious software that f***s your computer...
  24. Minor league guys making $400 a week, but getting $760 in weekly per diem if they're on the taxi squad? I mean, that doesn't seem off to you? I know it's all union negotiated stuff, but the fact that MLB players get $20K/year (assuming they only get it during the season) that's supposed to cover their daily food (etc) costs, when most of their food is already provided to them, just another little weird bonus. Lots of MILB players could use that extra $20K that the vast majority of MLB players wouldn't even notice was missing...
