  1. wondered what he meant by "promises don't matter"? Did the Mets have a deal with Matz or his agent that he would re-sign back with the Mets before he was dealt here?
  2. it will be "Au revoir" to Tampa soon enough.
  3. Some sad news today...former Jays coach and minor leaguer Omar Malave has committed suicide according to his daughter on Twitter.
  4. Agreed but only when there's a disparity between the offers. When the offers are close than different factors comes into play such as player and family comfort levels with the team/city and competitiveness of team. There's more factors but yes, the dollars need to be there.
  5. Well, not quite 30...some teams are never in the conversation...ie: Oakland and Baltimore
  6. Very much aware of that...also he may have considered the injury risk involved being a pitcher in those two yrs.
  7. I think Berrios could have gotten more $ with same term from others but this dispels some of the myths players are just mercenaries. I suspect Berrios looked at that 140 mil figure and thought "yeah, I can live with that being on what looks like a solid contender"! Wonder if he talked with Marcus and Robbie about what their plans are looking like?
  8. Holding onto him....I think if traded now the Jays will be selling low. Yes, he does have injuries concerns but lets see how his groin operation has helped him.
  9. Here's hoping the Jays Brass is waiting for the value to drop....then move in with the kill shot!
  10. Making the Jays more attractive to free agents especially those betting on themselves. A great contract now....even better 4 yrs from now.
  11. Exactly, I just think we as fans are finally excited to have a fruitful farm system and can't wait to see some of these young pups!...and btw...nothing wrong with some excitement!
  12. If we can trade Kirk ++ To fill a definite need, then keep McGuire. Moreno can play third and occasionally be the catcher. A cpl times during g the yr having 3 capable catchers would give Charlie some options. We'll need a cheap backup and McGuire check marks all the boxes.
  13. I'm somewhat on board for Chapman if Ramerez isn't obtained. The one question I do have is his swing and miss and where to bat him? We've seen enough swing and miss with Grichuk.
  14. Hammer meet nail.....well said!!
  15. What are the financial advantages of both cases? I suspect that would be the deciding factor on which route Beltre will be taking.
  16. Why is it being called a "stud" a badge of honor for guys but a woman being called a sl*^ is derogatory? Both implies the same.
  17. Yes, that he did but he still has more to go especially if he wants to catch a majority of the games. (even though I think Jansen has a solid lock on the position if he can maintain a decent bat).
  18. This past season Kirk witnessed first hand what being in shape did for Vladdy, if he can't get inspired and in shape after seeing that then I say the Jays should seriously think of trading him.
  19. Well...I guess now MLB and the umpire union on the next CBA bargaining won't get hung-up on the tripling of the per diem.
  20. at least once in his life would do him a world of good!!!
  21. Lets finish the season on a 5 game winning streak!....then carry the mo through the playoffs.
  22. Not sure if Gibby would be the type to take directives from the FO on who to play though.....but I would still love Gibby back.
  23. They just opened a Chik FIL A about a 5 minute drive away from us here in Kitchener 😀
  24. Even though I'm getting a woody from this team it's the promise of the years ahead that has me really excited as a baseball fan. Now for Rogers not to "turtle" and give the front office the go ahead to make a few $$ additions (which they seem to have in the past). Not sure on what the virus has done to their coffers but I would think the Jays with 40,000 a game could be a money maker for them.
