  1. What is your problem bud? If EE is giving the Jays deadlines for contract talks, maybe he cares more about the money. You really don't think he'd take a trade if the team getting him was wanting to offer him a good contract extension? Pretty closed-minded.
  2. You'd trade everyone for prospects and think it was awesome.
  3. Makes sense if you are looking to trade one of Bautista or Edwin for a pitcher.
  4. AA makes a playoff team with the best offense in baseball, while showing the ability to rebuild a farm system within about a year and a half and the brains are so happy he is gone. SMH. Shapiro with AA would have been ideal if they could make it work. AA used analytics and scouting. With pure analytics guys we will only ever be on part with 2/3 of the league.
  5. Suppresses?! Shields on a 1/21 deal would be great, made even better by the fact if he did opt out it means we'd also be getting a pick for him. Subtract the value of a 1st or 2nd round pick from 21m and it'd be a steal. If he has a good year old even be possible.
  6. Handcuff the payroll? If you never want to spend money and some of you guys always want to go full prospects then we won't have to ever need to be near the top of our payroll. I swear some of you are more interested in saving Rogers money than anything. The franchise doesn't know what it is doing. Rogers brought in Shapiro when things looked bleak to come slash the budget, then we went on a big win streak and the fans were amazing for 1/3 of the year. Shapiro pumped up his ability to save money I'm sure and now it is this odd position. Rotation is not good enough. I'd be more comforted knowing AA would be working on all kinds of trade possibilities to get us a starter. No way AA would sign any overpriced FA either.
  7. I really think Happy is a guy that they loved under AA and we're going to try and sign either way. AA did not make irresponsible FA signings either. You are happy seeing us go into the season with a crappy rotation just so we don't spend as much money or lose a prospect. I know you don't like it, but at this point the Jays really need to make something happen this year. If the team sucks and misses the playoffs the whole franchise will take a big step backwards. I like Happ, but we need to upgrade at least one spot.
  8. Slower turf helped I'm sure.
  9. I don't think EE would cost a crazy amount. DHs have never been paid a lot. Even Ortiz never cracked 20 million. I really think EE would be smart to take a 3/55 deal now that he is mostly at DH. One down year this year and he might get quite a bit less. Bautista is also getting old. He won't be getting real long deal once he hits FA.

Question from a guy who, despite playing hockey all through my youth, has only begun following hockey closely again in the last year and a half. Do fans generally agree with how often coaches switch around their lines? I am playing fantasy hockey and see coaches constantly moving players between the first, second and PP lines. The line does well and all of a sudden the coach wants to spread out his talent, or the line doesn't do well and then someone needs a demotion. A player gets called up out of nowhere from the 3rd line and kills it on the top line, then out of nowhere is sent back away. You here them say they want to see if players have chemistry but then abandon it after one mediocre game. Is this something most fans find dumb? Are most hockey coaches dumb?
  11. Could go for even cheaper pitching if we got Freeman. Not that I think this has any real potential to happen. Revere Donaldson Bautista EE Freeman Tulo Martin Travis Pillar That's not only the best offense in baseball but one of the better defenses as well.
  12. We are really going to need one of Osuna or Hutchison to step it up in the rotation this year. There must be ab organization somewhere that would value Sanchez as something wouldn't there be?
  13. Yep. We should trade him if we get good value on him. I think this is the height of his value. He is like JP Arencibia in that he is too blind to his own faults to realize how to improve. His low walk totals and bat in general will not improve and the defense can only go downhill.
  14. Does anyone here actually believe we have a chance to sign either Price or Greinke? Anyway, of course there is a way. It's called a back loaded contract.
  15. You are pretty random about when to give throw value out the window and when not to. Pompey looks good. If we are going to trade him it better be for more than one year of a reliever and a comp pick. Pompey for five years will provide much more value than Chapman on one.
  16. No. Pompey is going to be really good for us. He will certainly provide more value than that, plus a comp pick.
  17. Yay. People are really finally coming around on this topic. Pitchers are babied more now and still get injured way more than ever. Have them pitch. If they get injured then they get inured. Use them while they are healthy, if they miss a year for tjs then it is what it is.
  18. I wonder. I know he was changing his swing because he thought it put too much pressure on his body. I'm with you, always loved him. It would he a pretty big risk to trade EE to accompany him though. I can't see him playing 1B.
  19. Well I know what you are saying. All the reports I saw the women knowingly took qualudes. I'm sure there are lots of drugs (alcohol as you mentioned as a less severe example) that could have similar effects. The women are there, with a celebrity, alone and taking drugs.... ummm. Pretty sure though that by the law if someone is super drunk they cannot consent to sex? So it'd probably be the same thing. Legally and morally it definitely isn't good.
  20. Meh. 96 strikeouts in 333 ABs does not inspire a lot of confidence for me that he has the bat control to really outspray a standard BABIP. He doesn't have any speed either to be legging out grounds so I just don't see it happening. I do like how he talks about needing to continue to adjust and the types of hitters he is learning from. It is different than a guy like Arencibia who is too much of a block head to realize what his weaknesses might me. If he can improve some then his numbers might not be waaayy worse next year.
  21. I'm not too exited to see what Belo does next year.
  22. Well agree to disagree. I don't think it is even close between Morneau vs Smoak/Belo. Plus I can just imagine the added strain that would put on the pitcher. One more player in the lineup that absolutely doesn't strike out. We could always take him out vs. lefties and go with a Pillar, Pompey and Revere outfield with Bautista DHing, although I haven't checked his splits.
  23. I think Shapiro is much more likely to trade Revere. I liked what Revere brought to the table though. I wonder even if Shapiro would have the balls to trade him or Pillar purely for prospects.
  24. Not maple boner related but is Morneau to risky for 1B? IFIf if if he could stay healthy he would fit beautifully. MLB trade rumors has him at 1/8. Maybe even 2/12 could be pulled off to bridge the gap to Tellez. Keeps Bautista in the outfield but I doubt they move him anyway.
