  1. Messy day for the organization with this and the Bautista thing. If AA was here I'd be surprised if this ever even leaked. Just saying though, I'm not against Shapiro.
  2. I find it kind of funny that Shapiro keeps acquiring players that the same people who were so excited for Shapiro's reign just finished bashing; went a bit after Gallardo, now trades for Bruce. I like this though, who knows what could happen with Bruce.
  3. What? Who is blaming Shapiro for anything. But actually yes, if Shapiro can't keep this team at the top of the AL then he should be blamed. Of course though (reasonable) people won't blame him if he doesn't lock up Bautista. We have a whole bunch of talent throughout the roster, even once Bautista leaves. AA was one of the most creative GMs in the game. He did exactly what he said he would do when here: build up the farm, use those pieces on the team AND to acquire good talent. He always said he believed in acquiring elite talent and that's what he tried to do. He emptied the farm system in a few moves that didn't work out, but showed complete ability in building it back up again. It was actually pretty amazing, like Connor Greene for example. Nobody was talking about that guy, but then after AA traded all those guys at the desdline, he started going on interviews and talking about how they still have guys they like on the farm, and how Greene has really impressed them. Then all of a sudden people are all talking about Greene and he is a top 100 prospect. I like Shapiro. I also really like AA. I believe over his tenure AA added more value through trades then he lost. I think he made some mistakes but also pulled off some absolute steals. Okay so Dickey didnt win the cy young, but Donaldson won the mvp. I think it will be even more ridiculous if Shapiro tanks this team into a rebuild in a year and people like you say it had to be done because of what AA left him. AA did everything the fans and Rogers could have hoped by the time he was done. On the topic at hand, personally if it was me, I'd be looking to sign EE right now and I'd be looking to trade Bautista for a good young pitcher and a lesser OFer. He is fun to watch and I have no problem with his demands for a certain salary, but if he looks at it in black and white, we should too. We could trade him and get some good pieces that could help for years. People will pretend in a year that Shapiro didn't at least have that option, and maybe he doesnt because of Rogers, but it should be done.
  4. Yeah he seems as excited as last spring. Let's hope things work out a bit better this time.
  5. Really like the idea of at least giving Martin a shot to lead off. I know a few seasons lately haven't been amazing OBP-wise but he is a year away from a .400 obp season.
  6. When I went to SMU many years ago they got state of the art turf for their football field. We'd go play on it all the time and I always thought it was delightful. We'd dive and jump and it always seemed pretty forgiving to me. I guess ut is not better than MLB grass fields, but it would be easier on the body then the ball fields I played on as a kid.
  7. Watching baseball in Korea is way more fun than watching it in North America. This idea that you arent a real baseball fan unless you watch and analyze each pitch never makes sense to me. If the play on the field is going to be the same either way then give me the loud, energetic crowd instead of the stale one. Until they got in contention watching Jays games live wasnt very super awesome. Cheergirls, chants, songs for players etc... that's just good stuff to keep the crowd in it. I saw games the home team was down 8 runs in the ninth and everyone stayed and were still cheering in the stadium. Of course it doesnt hurt that in Korea you can bring in your own food and beer. Thats clearly a game changer. ** edit to note that I mean on average. Games in NY or games when teams are selling out to loud crowds (see Torontolast year) are great in NA.
  8. Is the new board dynasty filled? Hey I am just making my interest be known... repeatedly and annoying ways. Sure I'll be in on that.
  9. Yes. I will be a very lovely owner. It would be such an honor. It will finally force me to learn all the prospects again and some of the new stats.
  10. Yep. I have been here ever since the board opened. May have taken time away frm fantasy baseball, but not the Jays that's for sure.
  11. See you don't want Canadiansportsjunkie he just rolls over and dies!
  12. BJB Keeper League season 1 - 2nd out of 14 BJB Keeper League season 2 - 1st out of 14 Dynasty Baseball 3.0 - 11 out of 20 (took over one of the two worst teams from season before) Dynasty Baseball 4.0 (2009)- 3 out of 20 BJB Keeper League season 3 - 5 out of 14 Fantasy Challenge 2009 - 3 out of 20 Fantasy Challenge 2010 - 4 out of 20 Dynasty baseball v4.0 2010 - 8 out of 20 Dynasty Champions League - 4 out of 16 BJB Keeper League Fantasy Challenge 2011 - 4 out of 20 I know it is not as recent but the only BJB league I did not make the playoffs in was when I took over one of the worst teams in the league and I finished 3rd the season after. I really don't want to go play a non-dynasty league for newbs. Im sure the competition around here has improved but if you want an active owner who should be able to rebuild a bottom tier team, I can do it.
  13. I put my name in for the other league. Since I was around and near the tops of these types of leagues at the beginning of when people on this (well the old) board began having these 20 team dynasty leagues, I'd rather go in the Breaking Blue league but if I don't get that spot I'd like to play here. At least then I could start fresh. **This is not a reply to you, I was just being lazy and hit the button.
  14. I think people know from the old days I will be active. I always did well back then, which could change but I'd expect to be competitive. Although I might trash talk bad trades here and there I don't think I'd cause any problems in the league
  15. I stopped for lots of reasons. I was moving to a new country, starting a new career and getting married in a summer. Also I got tired of some of the arguments/problems and even got annoyed at myself for bickering too much about things when it was supposed to be for fun. I didnt miss it so I didnt get back into it for years but now I do and have all the time to handle it. I just need to relearn about the prospects now.
  16. The team is massively improved since when he took over and the farm system is better than when he took over. The evidence we have suggests he knows how to build up a farm systems value as fast as anyone. Anybody shortchanging Alex has their head in the sand. Shapiro just does the same things as about 15 other organizations, just not quite as good.
  17. Completely blows my mind how little ability you have to understand these people aren't robots. He got a job doing the thing he loves best while being in a great organization and an opportunity to learn under people who are considered the best. Plus he's still making plenty of money. As for people talking about his skills not being as useful in this role... whaaaattt? Under his tenure he built the farm system up twice very quickly. His absolute best quality seems to be his diligence. This guy leaves no stone unturned and is relentless. How would these qualities not be very helpful when building a farm system? You guy think that there won't be huge interest in AA after he works under Friedman and having one executive of the year the last year he was a GM? The guy is set.
  18. This. It is not even a question of maybe. AA had said in interviews (when people on here were going on about him wanting to be the president) that he is not interested very much in that job or those things. He said straight out his favourite job would be in scouting. AA was always fairly honest. He didn't lie he would just be vague if he needed in interviews. So why people on here wouldn't have just believed him is beyond me. The ability for people on here to read people's personalities has always been an issue though. Good luck AA. Thanks for the best team in over 20 years!
  19. Don't really know if Texas needs outfielder, but I would love it if we could make a deal for Fielder. Would they want Pompey so they could put Hamilton at DH? 90 million over 4 years would be nice. We'd have a massive year and then have someone locked up to replace EE. See if we could even get them to eat some of the money.
