  1. Said this recently. Pillar has the skills to be leadoff but he has the same arrogant, stubborn attitude like JPA. Won't listen to people who know better and thinks he is the shiz. I bet he thinks all the fans you want him to walk more are nerdz as well. Wish we could trade the idiot at the peak of his value.
  2. With what this team could continue to do if EE and JB stay, I wish they could both sign here for longer. I do think Jose looks after himself well and does deserve a solid contract, but that # is ridiculous.
  3. I think Saunders has already won this award.
  4. I'd think guys here would love this type of move with how much they are often concerned about service time. How many extra wins would Pompey be likely to add as the 4th OFer in the first couple months of the season? Keep him down playing full time until we need him, as long as we have reasonable other options. Could give us another season of Pompey's in his late 20s.
  5. I think that is a simplified way of looking at it. I used to play sports every day throughout my youth and had muscle and was lean. Now I really haven't done much for over 10 years so I am getting porky and don't have much muscle. If I was to get serious and exercise I am sure I would lose fat and gain muscle. I know what you are thinking and trying to say, but I think we ge the point of what they are saying.
  6. Tellez doesn't look super fat or out of shape. Hopefully a good year from him to pump up our farm.
  7. Team is good. I think it ways we underestimate some of our players. Pompey really, really has some skills. He has power and speed and has shown the ability to try and take walks in the past, while not striking out too much.... there is really hardly anything more you'd want in a young player. Meanwhile I think we are underrating Sanchez a bit too. There is still a chance there despite the uuugggglllyyy starting numbers.
  8. People will kill me. But I would actually like if we could give Dom Brown a good chance. Let him get around the hitters on our team and pick their brains. He has a lot of talent, but it would all depend if Saunders could handle CF on rare days where Pillar needs a rest.
  9. If only we could see this lineup for a year without any major injuries or regressions... it is just ridiculous.
  10. Tulo already looked better than last year. He just seemed stiff at the plate last year.
  11. I think Happ is really going to do well this year. Always liked him.
  12. Arencibia interview on the fan590... still doesn't get it. Says he was a media darling until he spoke up about Zaun and Dirk, and called that move sticking up for his team (when it was all about him). Doesn't understand the fans turned on him because he was arrogant and unwilling to try and change and learn. I feel for him in the way that it would be tough to realize so many people don't like you (as a player or your attitude), but he is still trying o completely play the victim. Kind of ridiculous.
  13. I think it has been pointed out in lots of articles, but DHs just don't have that great of a market. Personally I think if they give him 4/85 he should sign. Over 20 mil a year for a DH would be a great for EE. Probably too high even on the Jays' part.
  14. Mhmmm, AA would be raked over the coals for it.
  15. To play devils advocate, Pillar has shown the contact skills to hit for a high enough average in the minors that he could keep his OBP somewhere between respectable to good. Last year was his first full year in the MLB, so some of us are being a bit hard on him. Logically, there is a chance he could hit around .290 and throw up an OBP near .340 which wouldn't be that bad. It's just he does not pass the eye test because he'd take hacks for the fence all the time last year, especially late in games, when he should have been just trying to get on base. He doesn't pass the ear test either, seemingly having a milder version of JPA syndrome, where he seems to think he is the shiz already and doesn't really give the impression he understands that he is not the offensive hero of the team. Guy needs to seem more willing to learn and take on the role of getting on base.
  16. Seems like he has seen the contracts relievers are getting this year.
  17. Gibby said recentky in an interview that he thinks Tulo does not really want to hit first, even though he will do what the team needs. That basically only leaves those two and Martin (not a bad choice) to lead off until Travis is healthy.
  18. I know because I have him on my fantasy team now.
  19. Saunders will OBP over 340
  20. Saunders will be able to handle it if he is still with the team.
  21. Saunders.
  22. If this was AA at this point everyone would be trash talking how he doesnt use advanced stats (after the Bruce and now this). Anyway, this is a great low cost signing. They need to find the next Bautista or EE
  23. Type of player that could have a big bounce back year. At worse, he sucks, we waste a bit of money (possibly) and we use Pompey instead. At best, he goes off and hits like he was a couple years ago, gives us somewhat of a replacement gor Bautista or gets us more in trade value next summer than we gave up this summer.
  24. Me too.
  25. I think having Bruce could be really fun. Chance he has some some of bounce back.
