The only thing I don't like is this probably puts Smoak even further from cracking the lineup when I think he is ready to be a huge bat for the team.
But it is the Phillips so maybe they traded Revere for Colabello.
Deal makes me uncomfortable but since I honestly believe a winning team could snowball into a much higher payroll, I am for the trade and going for it. I feel our organizational can benefit even more than most from success.
It is pretty bad giving up Norris for 11 starts of another pitcher but... maybe worth the try. Playoffs could really help the organizational at this point.
No. Why would he risk that? He will get a huge deal, what does he have to gain on a 1 year deal? A few extra million at the risk of getting injured or regressing? No way.
This is true, but this is also the normal course for many great pitchers. A lot take a bit longer than expected. He does not have the ceiling of Hoffman but still, both those players should have a lot of prospect value.
Ugh we always want to go for it but come on. Just revisit the Carrasco deal and give them what they want. Could it really be much more than Alford and Norris?
I have always supported AA, though questioning some moves, but giving up both Alford and Norris would be dumb unless AA is almost sure, for whatever reason, that Norris will fall below expectations.
One thing we can take solace in is that AA has twice now been able to build up the farm system from crap to great in just a couple years. GM playing to his own strength. But ugh.
Other teams seem to be getting rentals cheaply but if thus is getting done this quickly I am scared to see what we gave up. I hate the idea of rentals. Obviously AA has talked about their "equation" to see if it is worth it and never seems keen on rentals, so we can only hope it isn't too bad.
