  1. Im not convinced this means Price won't start the next game, but if he doesn't then we just skipped David Price in the playoffs.....
  2. I always liked Gibby and was fine from the start with Dickey starting. But this... This is going to take me a while to get over. I hate this kind of stuff. Stay with what gave you success.
  3. God this is frustrating. He is managing completely different just because it's playoffs. Just effing with the starters. Already screwed us when he took out a rolling stroman. Ugh I like Gibby but this is the most frustrated I've been yet. Just let the guys Friggen pitch!!
  4. Seriously. Stop over managing this! It's getting frustrating. Price in a 7-1 game is stupid. Every game now we are talking about our best starters coming from the pen or how we could piggyback starters the next game. Just stop!!!! Is this a sly way of showing the want stroman to start next game? Are we basically skipping Price in the playoffs? Or is this his "side session"? Either way it's dumb.
  5. This should be a regular start. We really don't need to change and have all kinds of funky new strategies in the playoffs. Starters have been good for a while. Dickey has this one.
  6. Pillar!!! K seriously, unless we have no faith in Price, sit him the eff down and have him rested for game 5.
  7. No kidding. RA has been a capable pitcher all the last half of the year. I understand the argument of Price over him tonight, but you went with Dickey and have a 3-0 lead so let him go. Looks like his ball is moving and he is keeping control.
  8. Why tell him he can pitch if you are warming guys up in the first inning. Pitchers give up hits even when they are on. 3-0, let's see if we can get some more and save Price for game 5.
  9. I actually have a good feeling about Dickey. Seems like the kind of personality who can stay calm.
  10. The Martin aspect worries me the most. Not to mention I am convinced there is a Dickey effect on Martin too. Every time he catches Dickey he really looks uncomfortable when the relief pitcher comes in. Like really, really bad.
  11. Giggling the night before caused them to lose? Pretty sure grown adults can stay up until 11 or 12 and still wake up the next day ready to play baseball.
  12. I love Stroman, but if Dickey is going strong and the team is looking good, it'd be stupid to waste Price for those couple innings. Plus for whatever reason, sp coming out of the pen when they aren't used to it can really seem to backfire. If at all possible, save Price for game 5. Don't pretend pitching in an elimination game in a playoff series is the same as a side session either.
  13. Of course not. We already lost a game because our manager took out our starter early when he looked near unhittable. If Dickey is cruising you let him go. Price is not used to pitching out of the bullpen and although our relievers are really quite good, you never know what you might get on any given day when a guy walks out to the mound. If Dickey is pitching well then he shouldn't come out until you see real warning signs (not a bloopers single). Obvious exceptions if it is like the bottom of the 8th and Fielder comes up with a runner on after going 2 for 2 against Dickey already that night, or similar situations. In general Gibbons has had hooked way too many SP early this year when the other team was struggling and the pitcher was showing no real signs of slowing down.
  14. Dickey has been doing really well for a while. He hasn't walked more than two in a game for quite some time, which is a great sign. Is it an uncomfortable feeling going into an elimination game with Dickey? Yes. But honestly David Price admitted himself about nerves, and despite a lot of people here who like to undermine the human element, his playoff numbers make me nervous just like Dickey does. It is probably just small sample size but there's a chance it's not.
  15. Why would our strategy change for the playoffs ffs. I don't understand it. How will we score 10 runs so often if we are bunting all the time. Play like it was the regular season! Their pitchers are the same and their defense is the same. Uggghhhh.
  16. Yes!!! This is our team. If they don't pitch to you, take it!
  17. Nice. Patience. This whole series we've been swinging at a 2-0 pitch like that and grounding out. Let's go!
  18. Bautista just not looking too good. Guys just don't have the same confident calmness about them.
  19. Okay really... Our problem is not taking walks. Getting guys to walk and putting extra pressure on the pitchers is always big for us. Now it is getting 2-0, 3-0 or 3-1 and guys all want to be heroes.
  20. Have we really lived by the home run this year? We seem to have a lot of good hitters who also walk a lot.
  21. All nerves. Need to relax. This isn't about not hitting in the playoffs because of good starting pitching. These pitchers are nothing special. Guys are just trying too hard.
