Any Jays fan that complains about Jose's attitude is a hypocrite because I guarantee that at some point they absolutely loved his antics and it's not like he's ever done anything truly bad either. He's a fly ball pitcher. Homeruns are going to happen but this is a game where he should have had plenty of margin for error and he didn't get any.

Yeah I'm not so sure Martin doesn't get thrown out if he tries for two. I'd have to see a replay to get a better idea.

He's like a more extreme version of Rasmus. Way better in the field and even worse at the plate.

Damn, Francona getting Saunders into the game for Upton there was arguably his first true strategic mistake. Shame nothing came of it.

Bautista clearly still has skills but I don't think you can just assume that the age and injuries that affected him this year will just go away. There's risk there but there's a price at which that risk would make sense providing that he understands that he's no longer an outfielder.

Seems like the next logical step in that Cameron article would have been to overlay the bullpen usage graphs with postseason wOBA. Both lines trend the same way but they are both very spikey. Do the spikes line up?

Yeah but if you don't want to put Saunders in the OF than just leave Upton in the whole game. Would that really be so bad? He matches up well with the starter, he matches up with Miller down the line (god forbid). Is it really the end of the world if he faces a righty at some point given what he provides on the field?

Chasing Merritt early should not be a concern. If you chase him early that's a good thing. Lineup decisions should be made to maximize chances of scoring early. Game planning for Miller is kind of defeatist IMO. What you want to do is turn Miller into a non-factor by jumping to an early and significant lead.
