  1. À propos of nothing... Kenny Lofton was a great and underrated player. Still a 3 WAR player at 40 years old in his last season but nobody wanted to pay him like a 3 Win player anymore and he retired.
  2. I honestly had no idea he was such a sore spot.
  3. Well this is awkward. A lot of people are going to get upset if the injunction passes. My guess is that it won't because this is not a matter that needs to be dealt with so urgently. The logo has been on TV before, today's not going to make a difference. The unfortunate thing is that it never had to come to this. They could have phased out Wahoo years ago and I can't really think of any good reason why they didn't. Logos come and go all the time. Why this one in particular has perdured as much as it has is kind of baffling. Shapiro deserves some blame on this.
  4. These aren't the old Red Sox. The Dombrowsky era Red Sox might just blow past the luxury tax ceiling.
  5. The longer he goes without a big hit, the lower the tolerance level for Bautista's "s***" becomes. This has been the pattern for several years now. He's had a tremendous Blue Jays career. Arguably the greatest hitter in franchise history. Can we not just take the good with the bad?
  6. No one thought the matchup in the first game was favourable though there was certainly a hope that a strong Estrada start would negate the Kluber advantage. He certainly pitched a hell of a game but there was no margin for error.
  7. I feel like Bauer would be on the DL if this was the regular season. Ten stitches is no joke.
  8. I'm not expecting a good start from Bauer.
  9. Even with the health issues, he provided 2.5 War this year. Barney added 1.5 to that. They're getting good value out at 2B for the money. No reason not to run the same combination out there again next year.
  10. Yeah and it's 5m total for the portion of this year and all of next.
  11. And the portion of the salary they're paying is basically role player money.
  12. Oh sorry... I didn't see the 6-8 weeks part. Just spring training.
  13. It's not implied that he needs all that time. Spring training just happens to be the next thing after the World Series.
  14. That's a pretty solid rationale. I feel like if he puts Tulo 5th in the first lineup of the postseason, no one really question it. It's just like: "Bam, this is my playoffs lineup". That would have been the perfect time and the argument to do it would have been just as solid as it is now. It's not just about this little slump that Martin's in. Tulo is overall a better hitter. The slump merely exacerbates the bad decision, makes it really sting more than these things usually do.
  15. Yeah it's weak and I don't even know where it's coming from. Did Martin have the 5th spot to himself all season? I don't recall that being the case. I'm pretty sure he's batted 6th plenty of times.
  16. Yeah I think Keri prefaced his question with something like that. "Martin is a good hitter but..."
  17. I forget the phrasing but something like "With Martin struggling lately, it there any consideration being given to switching Tulowitzky and Martin". The answer was something like "No, mumble, mumble, teams doing well, mumble, mumble, you don't start changing things when the teams doing well, more mumbling."
  18. Positives: - Fresh bullpen for Toronto not for Cleveland - Saunders might be coming around - Kluber is their best starter pitcher and the Jays still manage to get some guy on base and create a few opportunities and on cold night with a tough strike zone. - It doesn't get much easier for the Cleveland hitters Negatives: - Martin still providing very little in the 5 spot and he's not going anywhere. - Travis... - Crying shame not to give Estrada run support.
  19. Anyone else catch Jonah Keri ask the Tulo/Martin question? Gibby shot it down.
  20. It seemed to me like a lot of the Jays baserunners came with 2 outs. Didn't seem like the scoring opportunities were all that great after the 1st.
  21. I don't want this to get all bitter like the rivalry with the O's and Rangers. There's no bad blood between these teams and their fan bases. The people trashing Cleveland are like that idiot with the 85 Jays sign. Trying to start s*** for nothing.
  22. The digs at the city of Cleveland and their fans are really lame. A joke here and there is o.k. but driving it to the ground will get you banned.
  23. The Cleveland doesn't deserve to win thing is nonsense. Both teams pitched well. Cleveland capitalized on a rare mistake. Blue Jays didn't. Cleveland deserves to win.
  24. Sucks to lose but the Jays have three more Estradas to throw at them and they don't have anything past Kluber. It will be a series not a rout.
