Are Shelby Miller and Trevor Bauer realistic comparisons for each other?

Interesting comparison. I used to listen to both religiously and now I can't stand either. The only time I listen to Bobcat is when someone on here posts that AA will be on or something like that.

The thing that's ridiculous is that most people in Wilner's position defer to those who are better at evaluating data. He could have just reffered to better research done elsewhere but that would mean coming to terms with his own ignorance and he steadfastly refuses to acknowledge that there are people more knowledgable about baseball than him. Dickey relies too much on velocity to be effective on short rest. Unlike say Tim Wakefield, his success insn't rooted in the slow knuckler. Developping the fast knuckler is what allowed him to have dominant stretches.

Yeah this is unprecedented. Usually we just see the same handful of guys that we saw during the season despicte a lot of speculation to the contrary. We don't usually see this many new guys and at most we might see one legit prospect. This is oddly aggressive and I don't understand the rationale.

Buehrle is pretty exceptional though. He has plus plus defense and a plus plus pickoff move. All those extra outs are really the secret to his success. Hard model to emulate.

One of the things that killed me in his book is the way he drop Star Wars references as if he it makes him some kind of erudite. LOTS of people like Star Wars.

In Dickey's book, he talks a lot about transgressions against him but he's very vague about his own transgressions. How does a player who doesn't drink or party end up cheating on his wife? We'll never know because he won't tell. Despite his professoral demeanor, Dickey probably has at least as much ego as the typical jock. He's the king of the humble brag and to be honest, I'm fine with that. Reading his book certainly didn't make me like him more but it didn't make me think less of him than I do about the typical pro athlete. He's just cut from a different cloth.
