  1. He wasn't wearing the suit for an interview. They made him buy a suit as part of a segment. A "let's tag along as Travis buys a suit" bit. Except that for all we know, Travis already has all the suits he needs/wants. They should have fronted the cost for their silly bit.
  2. Show got better without her.
  3. Agreed. Regardless of how much Travis makes if Sportsnet wants to do a contrived bit of manufactured candour about Travis buying a suit (that presumedly he wasn't even planning to buy) than they should front the cost.
  4. After Jack Morris blew game 5 in 1992, the Jays had to clinch on the road so the fans filled the Skydome for game 6 to watch on the jumbotron (some didn't even have an angle to see the screen but just went to be part of the moment. At the time it was a Guiness record for the largest gathering of people for the purpose of watching television. I'm not sure if they ever did it again after that. Game 5 in Philly in 1993 was another potential road clincher so they might have done it but I don't remember that they did. Jays lost so that one is all forgotten now.
  5. Yeah "safe pick" is a dubious concept. The JPR era was littered with so called "safe picks" that busted. In that era "safe" was practically a euphemism for "less upside". More recently, Max Pentecost was considered a pretty safe pick but then he ran into injury trouble, which could happen with any draft pick, and his outlook got a lot murkier. You just never know. And even when you start to think you know, you still might not know (Pentecost for instance could certainly go either way at this point). A lot can change between the time you draft a guy and the time he should be ready. Pitchers, hitters, high school guys, college guys. No one is ever entirely safe. It's just different probabilities and overall baseball has the lowest draft pick probabilities of the major sports.
  6. Norris actually had much better peripherals but I see your general point. MiLB numbers are tricky because sample sized can be quite small. Beyond level of competition, that's another reason not to read too much into results in the low minors. Anyways, Harris wasn't exactly the sexiest player the Jays have ever drafted and that's not really on the Jays. The draft had dried up a fair bit by the time they made their selection. This wasn't like say SRF of Hoffman where you start thinking immediately about where they rank amongst the team's top prospects. Which isn't to say that he can't be a guy. It's still early. We'll just wait and see and keep expectations fairly low in the interim.
  7. Yes high and unsustainable are difference concepts. Every hitter's true talent BABIP is different. xBABIP should, in theory, give you an idea of where that lies but I don't really know if it's all that reliable. At this point, batted ball data doesn't necessarily add as much clarity as one might hope for.
  8. lol. Take it easy guy. I think the difference of opinion on Colabello is diminishing anyways. As new evidence emerges the case for Colabello the hitter gets stronger. The fact that he's a 1B only player will always somewhat limit his value but I agree with you that's it's not really an immediate concern, more a question for the future. He's definitely getting it done as a platoon 1B and probably won't kill the team if and when he regresses.
  9. I think it's pretty fair to say the bat's legit now. Not "always going to be this good" good but a decent bat. I don't think there's any reason to be overly concerned with his playing time.
  10. In essence, they're criticizing you.
  11. It's not really the player they're criticizing.
  12. Ausie, Ausie, Ausie, Oy, Oy, Oy!
  13. This is turning into a pretty rough turn through the rotation. Good thing the team has Price now.
  14. No. Give Bautista a full spring training to get used to 1B. Ease him in to it. This is no time to rock the boat.
  15. Seems pretty do-able as soon a next year. Revere/Pompey/Pillar in the OF with Eddie as DH.
  16. Holland traded the pedo stache for a 12 year old's haircut.
  17. Teams always do this. Maybe you lose the opportunity to fill the spot if you don't act on it right after putting the player on the 60 day? Kind of seems that way from the way team's manage their roster.
  18. Deadpool said that he was contacted. Makes sense since he's very present in the GDTs and those are one of the main areas of concern.
  19. Yeah just a weird confluence of circumstances. Second most offensive ballpark of all time (after Mile High Stadium) and most offensive era of all times. The scenario is basically impossible to recreate in today's baseball. Going to be a statistical outlier for a long, long time.
  20. Mind boggling really.
  21. Wasn't the whole defensive calculation on 1B really off back then?
  22. But they're both also cheap so it's not that big a deal. It's o.k. to have guys like this in your lineup when you have superstars at other positions.
