  1. Anyways.... Time is now to sign Jimenez, with only he and Santana really left. If Jimenez were to quickly sign somewhere, suddenly Santana's value skyrockets and that would not be good. Just give Ubaldo what he wants!
  2. What the f*** is your problem?
  3. Backtracking I see. You just knocked out 20% of the league! Still I'll take that bet, though I think it simply ends voided. I don't bet money with people I don't know, but I'll gladly do some sort of signature or avatar type of bet.
  4. I'll take that bet.
  5. Die in a f***ing forest fire?
  6. Pitchers don't want to sign here, we play in a hitters park in a monster division.
  7. From what I understand, it's supposed to be a very strong class, and that some of the guys in 9-11 range would be top 5-7 guys most years. I think we have a chance to add 2 fantastic prospects.
  8. How do you guys think the players we will have a chance to draft at 9 and 11 compare to Stroman and Sanchez? Do you think they'd rank ahead of Stroman and Sanchez, right with Stroman and Sanchez, or behind Stroman and Sanchez?
  9. I'm hoping we land the best pitcher that slides to us at #9, and then grab Nick Gordon at #11. Just off the tape I've watched of Gordon, I think he has a chance to be special. Crazy athletic SS with an absolute CANON. Plus he's very projectable with the bat with quick hands and 6'2" frame already. He's a much superior prospect to his brother, and I think he slides because of Dee's mediocrity.
  10. ^Not mention there's a bunch of guys not listed who will provide wins. Also it's not just LF, it's DH, and it's two SPs.... We need to sign one of Garza/Jimenez/Santana, and sign the right one. That's the important task at hand.
  11. It can't perceive talent? In that case, throw all scouting reports out the window!
  12. But when both UZR and the eye test say a guy is fantastic, perhaps he is actually really good?
  13. He's pretty damn good with the glove. If he were to play all year, I would think it plausible he would be thought of as a top 10 defender at his position, and perhaps he could sneak into the top 5. He really is that good.
  14. I never said .280, I said .265. .265/.325 with his D aint bad at all. And again, dude is being payed peanuts! Those funds saved could be applied elsewhere.
  15. If BR had advanced stats like that for minor league performance, sure. Or you can use the small sample size of a rookie who had 130 PAs.
  16. Give him a similar walk rate to what he showed in his minor league career, and he'd have an OBP near .340 if he hit .280. Considering the plus D, and the dirt cheap salary, I'd take that in a split second on this team.
  17. People forget, but before last year, Goins had 3 straight season in the minors where he hit for a good average and had solid/good walk rates as well.
  18. Why would his defence regress? Is he slowing down physically? When does defence regress in a mid 20s player? The defence is legit, and it's tremendous, and it's something that can be counted on to be there every day. The bat is not as bad as you make it, he's not a pitcher, he knows how to advance the runner and do those things. Does he walk much or hit homers? Admittedly no, but he has a nice swing and makes hard contact (above average LD%). He can hit for an average BA and give us tremendous D for dirt cheap. Spend the money elsewhere.
  19. I disagree. Given the makeup and structure of this team, we can afford an all D second baseman who's getting paid peanuts. Giving up an asset to make a trade for an overpaid vet who might not do much more than Goins isn't worth the trouble. Let Goins play, worst case he gives you great defense (and can perhaps maybe surprise with the average). Then spend the money on one of Jimenez/Garza/Santana. For a team stretched out near it's financial limit (and having given away as many prospects as we did last offseason), the resources are better spent where it's needed (a legit starter)
  20. I actually don't mind Goins at all. He's cheap and he plays tremendous D. Look at the rest of our roster, if guys do what they are supposed to do, our lineup is the least of our concerns. And I think there's potential for a decent/solid batting average from him, something in the .260s, and which given his D isn't the end of the world. Give him an offseason with major league experience under his belt, he's the type who will figure out how to be a major league regular.
  21. Garza is my #1, Santana and Jimenez round out my top 3. Jiminez had probably his best year since the CY caliber year. Best K rate he's ever posted. Burnett coming back would just be weird, and I don't see it happening or him doing well if he did. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think it can happen. If we miss out on Garza, Santana, and Jimenez, I think I just pass over the remaining options and roll with a combination of young guns and/or guys coming back from injury. Missing out on those 3 though, would definitely damper my expectations for 2014. (one of those 3 guys and fantasizing about bounce back years, and perhaps a good trade, could get me excited about the Jays again.)
  22. Add or subtract any names you wish, just as long as they are UFA starting pitchers.
  23. in the order you'd like to have them pitch for the Jays in 2014. Throw age and potential salary out the window, just rank them in the order you'd want them on the Jays for 2014. Here are the consensus top names. Matt Garza Ervin Santana Ubaldo Jimenez AJ Burnett Chris Capuano Bronson Arroyo But add any names you wish.
  24. It's a mental thing with athletes. You get traded somewhere and have a disastrous year, you probably want a change of scenery. It's common sense.
  25. JJ wanted out of Toronto. Not because of the Canada thing, just the year was such a disaster for him that he needed a change of scenery.
