  1. Blackmon is 30 already and has a career 260/305/420 line outside Coors. WAR-wise he doesn't look that impressive. I'm not trading Stro straight up for that.
  2. That's a good way of describing Dombrowski. Or as Bob McCown likes to pronounce it, 'Dubbroski' Anyway, the White Sox are clearly doing a rebuild. Is is more likely now they trade Eaton?
  3. Never read the comments.
  4. Lawrie and Donaldson in the same clubhouse. It needs to happen.
  5. The sport has come to $$$$$$$$$$$$
  6. MLBTR predicted Cecil signing a 3 yr, $18M deal (albeit for Seattle..)
  7. They're talking about a 1B platoon with Smoak, but...Pierce actually has better career numbers vs RHP than Smoak.
  8. Shapitkins.
  9. Morales is a pretty good little hitter. Limitation is that he's basically just a DH. I wouldn't mind it depending on the cost. It feels like something that would happen later in the off season though.
  10. Maybe. Although it says something when that deal was more than 10 years ago, and no one in MLB has signed a reliever to a 5 year contract since then.
  11. That article has the Jays retaining Bautista and signing Morales as a DH. Morales doesn't have the draft pick attached.
  12. FWIW MLBTR predicts Edwin to go to Boston for 4 years, $92MM. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/2016-17-top-50-mlb-free-agents-predictions.html
  13. Encarnacion might very well get 5/125 from someone. I wouldn't be surprised.
  14. I've often thought this is the way I'd go if I were GMing a baseball team. A lot of teams like to build from the pitching out (I remember Andy McPhail wanted to "grow the arms, buy the bats" when he was Orioles GM) but pitchers are so unpredictable and volatile that it's hard to do that. Hitters seem to have a much more predictable developmental and aging curve. I'd go more the opposite way: focus on developing position players, and fill in the pitching however I can (eg trading excess position players, signing mid-range free agent starters).

  16. Giving Bautista a QO would be a no-brainer, wouldn't it?
  17. Yeah I know. I was mostly joking with my post...I think.
  18. It's been done. They used to have a balanced schedule, even despite having divisions. I know the players didn't like it.
  19. Yeah. I noticed that myself last year, after KC won the WS. All the times the Jays have made the playoffs, they've either won it themselves or been eliminated by the team that went on to win the world series. Which means Cleveland has to win now for the streak to continue..
