Same. They won 89 games, made the playoffs, got to the final four, and it still kind of feels like they played like crap for most of the year.
They just never got the bats going like everyone expected.
The rotation is really good. I'm not sure how they rebuild the offence in one off season. It's a pretty thin free agent class for hitters. There isn't anything immiment in the minor league system, which leaves trades. I don't see Shapiro dealing much, since he's trying to rebuild the farm.
I would have started Liriano.
Regardless, I think the key to this game is getting to Tillman early and often. The offense is simply going to have to do its thing. You know they're going to throw that good bullpen out there after about the 5th inning, and I have to think Britton's going two innings at least.
I'm also more optimistic all the time about the current management. I think it's good and the Jays are in good hands going foreward. I just hope it doesn't take too long to fix.
That's just it. They were 2 outs away from pretty much locking down that first wild card spot. Now not only is that in jeopardy, but even making the WC game at all is questionable.
