  1. Is there a single home run that JPA has hit that isn't a mistake pitch? Bautista and EE and good hitters can see a good pitch in the strike zone and crank it. But I think that JPA probably only hits mistake pitches. Am I right?
  2. The team should have spent money, not prospects last off-season. I know they spent money...but they should have spent more money and less prospect. In any case, I'm pretty sure when we look back the propects we gave up won't make our feelings that hurt...with the exception of Synder.
  3. The performance and attitude of the Blue Jays is analogous to the performance and attitude of Toronto. (I've lived in Toronto, amongst many other places, and I've been a huge Jays fan for decades). Saying "we are world series contenders" is like Toronto saying "we are a world class city". If it's true, you don't need to say it.
  4. All players are motivated by money to some degree. But I get the feeling that Rasmus isn't as much as most.
  5. I'm presuming somewhere in Venezuela or Cuba, they call their cocks "Romeros".
  6. Ultimately, the Dickey trade was: Playoffs: we broke even No Playoffs: bad trade
  7. this thread.....delivers.
  8. I was completely joking...but that didn't come through. Although it's pretty telling that the Mets wouldn't even give us one prospect equivalent to those guys.
  9. I will laugh my ass off if our piece of s*** catcher hits a bomb here.
  10. Trade Janssen and whatever for the best 3b/2b prospect available on a contender.
  11. The players know whats going on. They've checked out. If this team was in contention, you would probably see better play from the contingent of players from on particular Caribbean country.
  12. Wonder if we could give RAD back to the Mets for only one of Noah or TDA.
  13. this post made me laugh
  14. More to the point, there are multiple teams that perceive the requirement for a Janssen. It's not like AA has to pick up the phone to Detroit and do the deal. AA would be shopping into a sellers market on him. GM's of teams like the Tigers and Cards (?) get hyper paranoid that they will pull a BoSox and lose 20 games to miss the playoffs, or that a national audience will see them cough up two late inning leads in the playoffs.
  15. Mauer: "I'm not going to swing at that sinker." -STRIKE
  16. Can we trade Janssen and simply move DM up into the closer spot?
  17. god Bautista is one of the worst base runners I've ever seen.
  18. Is trading international money the baseball equivalent to trading a draft pick?
  19. That's AA's declared plan. He feels that there was a market arbitrage opportunity with players that had trouble in other organizations - Escobar, Rasmus, etc. I've said it before, I'm not sure you can win a marathon 162 game season with a core of Latin players, for exactly the reasons you say. It's not a racist or bigoted statement, but rather an identification of different cultural norms. But when your clubhouse starts to get dominated by Loviste, media blowups, giggling at errors, showboating at shortstop (Escobar), arguing with the umps incessantly ("I'm passionate about my performance!"), then you get what we have.
  20. where is the pick we get for JJ?
  21. It's a good thing those guys don't come on this forum. Dirk and Zaunie are downright polite relative to how knowledgeable fans feel.
