  1. Isn't that something that someone with a mental disorder would say though?
  2. Yeah that wouldn't be a bad idea. You'd think he could come in and throw that slider over and over and get some guys out. If he doesn't find it we may not make the playoffs though! If he struggles this month perhaps we'll see another trade for a SP during the August trade period.
  3. That's great. I bet his parents are really proud of him.
  4. Yeah Grant shouldn't be made fun of for having a mental disability. He should be applauded for having a mental disability and being able to go on baseball message boards and forming somewhat coherent arguments like he does. It's pretty impressive actually.
  5. Does Grant really have a mental disorder? He seems to be at least somewhat high functioning if so.
  6. A team will have to give up a first rounder on top of it. I could definitely see him coming back as the DH but we'll see, a good two months and the playoffs can change things.
  7. I didn't really like the Indians deadline. That team is going to win the division and I'm not sure that adding Miller really changes their WS probability all that much. He was a good get but they paid a steep price to acquire him. I didn't like the Giants deadline either. Duffy was a star player last year and is better than Matt Moore in his own right. Throw in the prospects and its a big package for a guy who doesn't project to be much better than Wade Miley. As for their other trade, Susac won't be missed but he's not a bad player and throwing in Bickford is a lot for Will Smith. At least Smith isn't a rental. That trade probably wasn't as bad as the Matt Moore trade and is something I could live with as a Giants fan.
  8. I think his argument is that we didn't add a whole lot and Hutch and 17 million is what we gave up. That could be true but look at the prices for players acquired this year. The prices were kind of crazy. Would you rather have Upton (5 mil for a season and a half) for nothing or Beltran for (5 mil for half a season) and give up your #2 prospect (according to fangraphs)? The Liriano trade is really tricky to evaluate but he hasn't lost his velocity, projects better than Hutch and we get two Top 100 prospects. Those two guys are definitely in our Top 10. Yeah we take on about 15 mil in added salary but it's probably worth it and if Liriano turns it around it's definitely worth it. Especially if being #1 in attendance leads to a larger budget. Admin (he's Juiced right?) is probably right in that calling these moves "amazing" might be overkill but I think they were some pretty nifty trades that helped us out for this year and next year and other than the payroll commitment and Hutch is may be a AAAA player anyway we didn't lose much. If we truly would have made major upgrades the already weak farm would have been completely decimated.
  9. Lol this is a pretty solid rant and it's got some pretty good points.
  10. Getting a feeling that Sanchez's next start in KC could be his last for the year. We really need Francisco Liriano to pitch well down the stretch.
  11. Thanks. I think my descriptions of what we gave up could probably apply to what we got as well though haha. Upton being the worst player in baseball two years in a row before and injury riddled '15 and this year, Benoit and Bolsinger suck, Feldman isn't very good, etc. But I think overall we improved the big league team and the farm and didn't give up a whole lot other than eating some salary to do it.
  12. When all the dust settles Shulz probably optioned. When Carrera comes back they may take him over Goins depending on the health of the infield. I guess they only need to make it one month until September and then they can both of them and Shulz and whoever else they want. Carrera might make more sense than Goins in the playoffs anyway. He can be used along with Upton to replace the corner OF defense and he's also a better pinch runner and pinch hitter.
  13. So in summary, here's what we exchanged at the 2016 deadline. -Upton -Benoit -Bolsinger -Feldman -Liriano -Two pretty much consensus 2016 Pre-Season Top 100 prospects in McGuire and Ramirez. for: -Taking on 5 mil of Upton's contract and all of Liriano's. -Two RP's pitching like s*** and were FA at the end of the year. -Hutch -Some lottery ticket prospects That's oversimplified but I really like this trade deadline for the Jays. Seems like our major league team got better and so did our farm system.
  14. Reese McGuire and Harold Ramirez were the #3 and #5 ranked prospects for the Pirates this year according to Fangraphs.
  15. The only thing I don't like about this deal is that it's a net wash as far as depth is concerned. Sanchez to the BP, Liriano to the rotation in some form or fashion. What happens if Estrada's back flares up on him? No Hutch anymore. Does that mean we throw Scott Diamond in the rotation down the stretch? I guess there is always the waiver trade period.
  16. Apparently Feldman just walked over to the other dugout and changed his jersey and is available tonight.
  17. So 17 mil is Liriano's remaining salary? And 2.3 is Hutch's? How did you reach that number with Hutch? 2.3 is his salary this year. What will it be next year? Will he be Arb 2?
  18. This is a pretty cool trade. I'm not going to really miss Hutch even though he's not worthless by any stretch. The main thing we are really losing is a pretty fair chunk of cash. But when you play in a big market and lead the league in attendance it's good to see the FO flex some of that muscle to take on all that salary and grab a solid prospect in the process. This trade tells me that the state of the franchise is pretty strong. We improved our big league team and our minor league system this deadline without giving up much all because we were willing to take on salary.
  19. Do you know the status of Estrada's back? That would play a factor IMO.
  20. Lol, Gregor Chisholm accidentally retweeted a fake Buster Olney account regarding Santana to the Jays being a done deal and the Fan is now reporting it.
  21. 6 man rotation could be interesting. Gives rest to Estrada and Sanchez.
  22. He's the classic example of a steady-yet-unimpressive innings-eater who doesn't put up a flashy strikeout rate or ERA but at the end of the year his decent 200 innings are worth around 2.5 WAR.
  23. Santana isn't that bad. He's kind of old but his contract situation is kind of alright. Seems to be good for 2.5+ WAR per season. If he gets busted for roids again though he's gone for a year. Assuming we didn't have to give up much I'd take him.
  24. I'm often at the office late and will listen to the games on the radio. We've got a really good radio team imo.
