  1. I don't know if the hurricane is going to affect these games in Tampa or not. They obviously have a dome so the actual play wouldn't be affected but travel could be.
  2. For a while there he looked he would be another Biagini for us.
  3. I don't trust Cecil at all right now but you're right, he's got the talent to become nails again. We could really use him down the stretch.
  4. So based upon a 1-10 scale where 10 is trusting that reliever to babysit my yet to be conceived (as far as I know anyway) first born child and 1 is I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them here is what I'm thinking. Osuna - 10 Grilli - 9 Biagini - 9 Barnes - 4 Benoit - 4 Feldman - 3 Loup- 3 Cecil - 1 Tepera - 1 That's pretty damn subjective but if Cecil came in to a tight late inning playoff game I'd probably be s***ing my pants the whole time he's out there.
  5. That's a good idea. Can be based off of numbers or completely subjective. We should make a new thread for that though.
  6. Agreed. Benoit makes me really nervous.
  7. Yeah there is definitely a lot of truth to that but it's an easy thing to look at to see how statistically involved your manager is. When he's batting one of your top 5 or 6 hitters #9 it's kind of a red flag.
  8. The Mets are built around young pitching, absolute studs and they looked to be like a contender for a long time last year. I don't think it's going to turn out well for them though.
  9. Not thrilled with Thole being on the postseason roster but if Martin gets hurt I'm assuming they'd want a backup who is familiar with the staff. Or if we had some injuries to the rotation and Dickey needed to pitch perhaps they'd take Thole instead of Navarro for the backup spot (or even just carry both). So as much as I hate the idea of Thole playing in the playoffs it's probably smart to do it this way.
  10. I think we have an answer now:
  11. Yeah that's a good point.
  12. I think I read where is wRC+ would be highest of any qualified hitter on numerous teams, including the Yankees. And if Gibby likes Bautista in the leadoff spot I'm ok with that but why on earth bat Pillar, Upton, Navarro, etc. at 7 and 8 with Travis batting 9th? That should be a no-brainer.
  13. Not really, just trying to understand the mechanics is all. Intentional Wok gave a helpful answer. With today's off day and Bluefield's season ending tonight Travis won't even miss a game.
  14. Travis to Bluefield has to be nothing more than some sort of roster manipulation?
  15. Yeah they did. He did alright in that role but the wildcat has kind of faded from normal use. He wasn't a bad runner. I think a lot of teams wanted to try him out at other positions but he wasn't interested in that either. The year in Denver was interesting. His CMP% was a joke but he didn't turn the ball over that much and he ran for a lot of yards. I don't think he was as bad as people thought. Good enough to be a backup QB who plays some wildcat like you suggested. I think one problem is that he's a terrible practice QB. You give him your 2nd team reps and you've got throws all over the field all day. Everyone else's reps get affected.
  16. He would have done horrible in the CFL IMO. Have to be able to throw. He needed a coach like Chip Kelly to save him but it just didn't happen.
  17. Sellout crowds in Dunedin for sure.
  18. Sign him and send him to Dunedin for all of next year.
  19. Why would any team not put in a waiver claim on an asset like that? No way he got to the Sox imo. How would the Angels, A's or Rays not make a claim on him, for example?
  20. That is one anti-climatic result.
  21. I don't even mind the move, just s*** talking the Sox and seeing if anyone else is watching this.
  22. Sox desperate. Using Kimbrel when they don't even have the lead. Farrell on full tilt.
  23. Some contender with an absolutely atrocious backup middle infield situation I guess.
  24. Everyone keep eating pizza and switch to the Tampa-Sox game.
