  1. Another name to add to the backup C mix.
  2. I didn't see that. Just googled it and couldn't find it.
  3. Yeah I'd love to snag one of those guys. Can always get a lefty at the deadline if we need one but I don't even think Loup is THAT bad to start with.
  4. Not to me. Maybe if you had two similarly talented guys willing to sign for similar money I'd take the lefty but all things considered I simply want the best valued guys we can get. LF is an issue I agree but I don't think we have enough money to significantly upgrade this position. Moss is the one clear upgrade to me on the FA market and he's due for 8 mil or so you would think.
  5. One thing to add to the discussion here but I do not care if we sign another lefty or not. Loup can be the lefty for now I just want best available regardless of which arm they throw with.
  6. Absolutely. Giving three year, 20 million plus deals to the Mike Dunns of the world is how you f*** up your team moving forward.
  7. He's a good example of an early-era Moneyball guy. Was once on the cutting edge but the whole Moneyball concept requires constant changes in thinking to remain along that cutting edge. He's incredibly stubborn and unwilling to adapt. In fact, he's regressed as he now relies mostly on scouting instead of advanced stats. That's why a guy with a sloppy build and controversial swing like Tellez gets written off even though he's putting up good numbers. And yes, his SJW garbage is ridiculous. I think Nitkowski called him out beautifully on that. Seems like he talks about food, board games, his anxiety issues and SJW crap as much as he does baseball.
  8. Geezus, this logjam isn't going to clear up anytime soon is it?
  9. Meanwhile Larry Walker had a great bat, great arm, great defense, and good baserunning. The guy was one of the best five-tool players of all time. He should be in the HoF over Vlad.
  10. So bad. He made Adam Lind look like Kevin Pillar. I can't believe I forgot him.
  11. I see. I'd rather have Moss than Carter I suppose.
  12. Yeah that's probably smart. It just seems like the budget is gone, right? I think Moss could probably at least get Michael Saunders money at this point and I don't know if we have that.
  13. I agree with you on Pearce. I'd just put him at 1B nearly fulltime. Then throw Upton full-time and let it ride. That'd give us above average to excellent defense at every single spot but RF. To go with a good 5-deep rotation and what should at least be respectable offense and bullpen that team can compete for a wild card.
  14. Vlad Jr. could be here sooner than people think as well.
  15. Yeah they should be shooting for doctors, lawyers, businessmen although they aren't perfect either.
  16. How the hell did I forget him. That was brutal.
  17. Bautista looked a lot better when he came back after the toe injury. He's slow now but he made some plays that made me think he wasn't a total waste out there. Or perhaps he just looked good compared to Saunders who is probably the worst OF I've seen in a Jays uniform since they put Lind there years ago.
  18. I don't know about the workout stuff but Stroman did seem to subtweet Sanchez after Sanchez went with Boras.
  19. Good lord do the Rockies look stupid. Could have had Trumbo or EE for less money than what they gave Desmond to play 1B.
  20. Yeah that's what I was getting at. Zeke sucks. To me he's a 5th OF in the National League. I'm starting to talk myself in to Upton in LF full-time. Take the good defense and baserunning and hope the bat is 90 wRC+ or higher. Put Zeke on the bench as the 4th OF and Pompey in AAA. If Upton falters, call up Pompey. Give Pearce some LF starts with Smoak at 1B too. Start Zeke as little as possible but he can be used to pinch run, pinch hit/bunt and as a defensive replacement for Bautista, that's not a bad role for him really.
  21. I'll be interested to see the numbers on that. I actually quite like him as long as he's being paid appropriately as an all-power, no walk 1B. Teams usually miscast him as an OF for some reason. I guess with Kim, Jones and Smith in the OF he'll see more time at DH.
  22. In 2016 yes, in 2015 he was very solid. But given that Zeke is his platoon partner his splits may not matter because he can't hit at all. Upton is likely a better defensive player and baserunner on top of it.
  23. Yeah that could help. I think Jonah Keri has some credibility now to carry a little weight with these Hall of Fame votes. He might have his eye on Edgar Martinez though from what I've gathered. Walker is Canadian baseball royalty and deserving of the Hall though. Probably the best Canadian player other than Fergie Jenkins?
