  1. Grichuk is the king of swinging at bad pitches early and then passing on beachballs down the middle late.
  2. I watch a game live about once every two years but I just can't get into it any more than that.
  3. Sanchez vs. CC Estrada vs. Gray Stroman vs. Montgomery Garcia vs. Severino Would be nice to pick this game up bc 2 of the next 3 aren't great matchups.
  4. Gurriel just hit his first homer of the year. Playing well so far.
  5. Yeah this poll proves he's the most underrated OF IMO. I think any of Pillar, Teoscar or Granderson would be good choices. If someone wanted to make the argument for Grichuk I think they could and I expect when Boxy logs in that Pearce will finally get a vote.
  6. But they don't add up to 2.5. Grandy and Grichuk alone add up to 3.5. Grandy himself out WAR'd Pillar.
  7. According to what? Fangraphs has Grandy with a 2.1 WAR last year. Grichuk had 1.4. Teoscar had a half win in 27 games. Pearce struggled with .1 due to his poor defense.
  8. Granderson has out WAR'd Pillar in every single year since Pillar's debut in 2013 and Steamer projects that he'll do it on a per game basis again this year.
  9. I think you could make the case for any of them other than Pearce who is also a good player. Pillar seems like the correct choice at first but he only had 1.9 WAR last season. Wasn't much better the year before that. Tough call IMO.
  10. Kacy Clemens is going to wreck Lansing.
  11. I'll bet you 100 USD that Teoscar out WARs Grichuk this year.
  12. They actually are pretty similar on first glance but I think the swing and miss issues with Grichuk are pretty well evidenced at this point (he would have been fourth in K% last year if he had qualified). His career walk rate isn't even that much better than Pillar's tbh and his career OBP is .293. So yeah, Teoscar won't be Joey Gallo level strikeouts and Kevin Pillar walk rates but Grichuk almost is. He has overcome that to a large degree with his power and defense but his flaws may be catching up with him. He's getting worse each year, not better. It's not going to take a miracle for Teoscar to outproduce him at this point. I think it's probably more likely that Teoscar settles in as a starting MLB OFer and Grichuk steps back to a 4th OF role than it is the other way around. Anyone who disagrees is a racist who is picking Grichuk merely because he is a white male.
  13. I would say all 5 of our current OFers are bunched really close together. Granderson, Pearce (due to his defense he has the lowest ceiling), Pillar, Grichuk and Teoscar. It would not surprise me if Teoscar is the best of that bunch nor would it surprise me if he were to be outplayed by a couple of them. Probably a lot of variance with him, he might have the highest ceiling though.
  14. Ok so it's not so much liking Grichuk as you don't seem to expect much of him, you just really don't like Teoscar. Well Grichuk is nearly a full WAR behind Teoscar already this season. Let's see if he closes the gap over the course of the season.
  15. Oh ok couldn't tell through the text
  16. Yes for all the Teoscar doubters I would love to hear arguments why Grichuk is slam dunk better. The argument against Teoscar is untenable plate discipline yet Grichuk has put up a career 30% K-Rate.
  17. Why would you trade Teoscar for a decent backup C?
  18. Gibby is a genius. Ned Yost is getting wrecked.
  19. Runner had a crazy jump on that ball
  20. I'm sure Stroman is a better hitter.
  21. Well at least Facebook doesn't have commercials between innings.
  22. When you cross the border it magically gets much colder.
  23. Teoscar is good. Hits the ball hard, he's fast, good arm. Really toolsy guy. His plate discipline will be less than ideal and that's no small issue but the guy is a starting MLB OF. Been saying it for months!
