  1. You'd think someone at the Hall would explain it to her. She's either naive or she's pissed off at the Jays.
  2. Instead of no logo so he's considered an MLB player maybe Brandy Halladay should take it one step further. Put the peace sign on his hat to remind everyone that he's not just a Blue Jay, a Philly or even an MLB player, but remind everyone that he was simply a citizen of the world.
  3. Best player in franchise history and for the 12 years he was here he was one of the few reasons to pay attention to the team. Yeah there's Alomar but he only played here 5 years. He's only a Jay because he bounced around so much and we just so happen to be his longest tenured team. Halladay would be the team's one true Hall of Famer but nope, Brandy Halladay doesn't want to upset the Phillies, a team who doesn't give a s*** if he goes in as a Jay. It's awful.
  4. Brandy Halladay doesn't get it. Unless something happened between her and the club after his death, she just wants to play it political by not choosing a side. The problem is that one only one team has a claim to the logo so by trying to appease both teams she pisses off one team and the other kind of shrugs with astonishment. The Hall should do her a favor and put him in as a Blue Jay.
  5. From what I'm seeing most Phillies fans don't even understand this.
  6. Kind of sucks but that one I understand. Pick the current big market team over the defunct team any day of the week from his perspective.
  7. She either doesn't understand what this means, has had a falling out with the Jays, or the Phillies are kissing her ass/giving her perks to the point that she wants to please them.
  8. So if Marwin is a solid 14 team dynasty player, then Asdrubal Cabrera (2B/3B/SS) probably is too after signing to be the Rangers 3B. I can keep him for close to the minimum. I think I might try to keep him and Marwin and just role with the matchups like crazy this year.
  9. Damn man that's really disappointing. Alomar rocks our logo but he was only here 5 years. He's barely a Blue Jays IMO. I always though Roy considered himself a Blue Jay and the Phillies were simply the "dessert" portion of his career that he really enjoyed. I think that's how he put it. Idk if the family has beef with the Jays brass right now or what but something isn't sitting right with this.
  10. I hope this isn't pretty or tacky of me but the Jays should be courting Halladay's family big time. Statements like this should he coming from the Jays not Phillies.
  11. I thought Bonds and Clemens would get in some day. Now I don't think they do.
  12. Bill James has some formula that gives Markakis a 41% chance to make it to 3000 although he said by eyeballing it he would put the percentage much lower. His contract situation is going to play a factor. If he had some fat deal in place that guaranteed him PT he'd have a better shot but in today's market one bad year at this point and hes signing minor league deals.

Can someone explain what's happening with the Oilers? A lot of the Jays people I follow post hockey stuff and apparently they are quite the dumpster fire.
  14. I agree on Wagner. I actually see the argument for him but you have to consider relievers their own special position. He had 2 less WAR than Hoffman in basically 3 less seasons. I probably keep him out but I don't think it's a travesty if he got in. McGriff I keep out. Miles better than Harold Baines but he just isn't there. If you let him in you should let guys like Dave Stieb in too.
  15. Here is Rosenthal's ballot. I've seen worse but he does include Billy Wagner and Fred McGriff. Wouldn't be the worst players in the HoF but I wouldn't vote for them.
  16. That's a pretty good call. The guy should be in the Hall easy but no one ever talks about him.
  17. One thing to consider with football is that the games are more low scoring than basketball. So some blown foul calls in basketball is likely only to affect a team's score by a smallish percentage of their overall score. You can basically negate a few blown calls by making a couple of extra 3 pointers. It kind of takes a total officiating breakdown over the course of the game against one team to REALLY make a big difference. In football, calling PI or not on a deep pass is almost the equivalent of giving a team X amount of points. Where X = the average number of points scored on a drive that features a gain of Y amount of yards. Just an example but giving a team the equivalent of 3 points with a PI in football is a huge deal. There is a lot of parity in the NFL too and the games are usually really close each week. A 2 TD win in the playoffs is almost considered a solid beatdown. A couple of calls can really change the game. I still think it's basketball but football is close. The arguments for baseball and soccer are good too. Especially in soccer, one guy can give a PK which is like giving someone 80% of a goal. When the games are usually 2-1 that could be the difference.
  18. Right now the winner of the Sogard/Urena ST battle is likely making the team and will end up with way more PAs than they should. It makes a lot of sense to make a play for Marwin, Josh Harrison, Derek Dietrech or someone else like that if it's only going to cost the team a 1 year deal.
  19. Yeah for sure. Would love to see the Jays make a play for a guy like Marwin G now or something if UT guys are this cheap.
  20. Sarris broke it down pretty well. I kind of agree with you though Boxy. The foul calls in basketball seem more all over the map and they happen nearly every play.
  21. I took this from Eno Sarris who posed the question. I added hockey for this audience. What do you guys think?
  22. We should trade Stroman to the Reds.
  23. Nothing on his official account:
  24. The good thing is that the roster undergoes a pretty big change mid April when it gets its best player in Vlad Jr. That frees up Drury to play some 2B where I think he's best suited. If Travis gets back to his old self, not completely unreasonable, then Drury can take on a UT role which is even better. Regardless, I think this team is going to suck for the most part though.
  25. My other question is what do you all make of Andrew Suarez? Steamer basically thinks he's a Top 60 SP but no one else I've seen even thinks he's rosterable in anything but the very deepest of leagues.
