  1. Live look at TL's meltdown:
  2. I wasn't so sure about him when you first brought him up but you've sold him on me now. I'd do the 3/30 for him for sure. We could add a player option with a buyout to kick in some more cash if needed. Fangraphs' take on him in their Top 50 article makes him sound like a picture perfect fit for us. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-top-50-free-agents/ #19- Taylor Rogers I’m not convinced Rogers will get the 19th-biggest contract this offseason. He’ll be 32 next year, he’s a reliever, and he just posted negative WAR with the Brewers after coming over in a big deadline trade. It’s not the kind of profile that commands a top-dollar contract. I’m putting Rogers here because I think he’ll be a bargain acquisition, and turn some team’s bullpen into a late-inning nightmare for opponents, a model that has paid dividends in the playoffs in recent years. I’m inclined to give Rogers a mulligan for his struggles in Milwaukee. Everything he threw turned into a home run; a 27.3% HR/FB mark is hard to recover from regardless of what else you do well. That led to some nibbling, which led to some walks, which led to the homers hurting more… it was a vicious cycle that scuttled his season. I just don’t see much reason to think that will persist into next year. Teams that already have a few solid bullpen arms could kick their unit up to the next level by adding Rogers, and the price won’t be unthinkable.
  3. The whole Varsho situation is crazy because C is so high on the defensive spectrum that it's rarely worth moving a guy to a different position anyway. It's usually done in situations where the player is a bat first guy and you can squeeze a few more ABs out of him by having him play 1B or LF for 20-30 games a year. For a guy to be elite at a different important position is crazy and is the rare scenario where moving him there full time makes sense. Moreno's situation is a little bit different than Varsho's in that Moreno seems like he might be an elite defensive Catcher whereas Varsho is not. There probably isn't going to be a gain in value by moving Moreno whereas there is with Varsho.
  4. Are we sure he and twisted logic aren't the same person? Similar spaztic personalities.
  5. I use Reddit and am subscribed to the Blue Jays subreddit. It kind of sucks. There are some decent posters there spreading the gospel of advanced stats to the ignorant masses but it's mostly a ton of knee jerk casuals in there. Funny enough, I've ran across TL's posts there before. The last time was when we traded Nick Frasso. He threw a fit similar to his Greg Bird meltdown and called Frasso a future superstar. I think he actually managed to get some downvotes on that one.
  6. But I really have zero beef with TL. He's just an easy mark for The Sheriff because he (1) sets things up on a tee and (2) is hypersensitive. I like his Gameday Threads and that fancy spreadsheet of his is pretty cool. Plenty of others take s*** from me in stride. StankyLeg and CaptainObviouslyADumbass are good sports and my arch nemesis Jim is a great sport about it all. If TL would just take a chill pill he'd be fine.
  7. Lol I forgot about that. Yeah TL threw a hissy fit when Greg Bird didn't make the team and was actually finding some support on the board. When I decided to nip that in the bud (similar to how I defeated the Bellinger Fanboys this offseason), TL lost his marbles. No idea why he was on Greg Bird's nuts so bad either. He hadn't posted a positive WAR in the big leagues since 2015. but he hit 2 homers in ST off AAA journeymen and all of the sudden he was big league material? lmao Of course, I was proven right when Greg Bird ended up hitting .218 with 6 homers in Scranton this year. He'll probably be selling insurance this year.
  8. I hate him.
  9. Yeah he nailed the presser about as good as one could do.
  10. Fangraphs article on why teams are signing such long deals is interesting. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-are-teams-issuing-extremely-long-contracts/ Macroeconomic trends and interest rates are driving longer term deals.
  11. Fangraphs article on the KK signing: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/kevin-kiermaier-is-finally-actually-a-blue-jay/ Here's the gist of it: "The Jays are stronger with Kiermaier than without, but it’s fair to wonder if they’d be better off had they simply kept Hernández. Looking at the projections, it’s a wash – Kiermaier and Swanson look to combine for 1.5-2.5 WAR, while Hernández can expect to finish in the same ballpark. In Teo’s favor, he provides that value from one roster spot, and he also comes with significantly more upside – he received MVP votes as recently as 2021. On the other hand, Toronto can afford to sacrifice some run production for the sake of run prevention. They finished last season with the fourth-most runs scored in baseball, but only the 13th-fewest runs allowed. Ultimately, it feels like Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins just moved the furniture around." I would agree with that but on the other hand Swanson has 3 years of control left and we also got a Top 10 prospect out of it. So if it's a net zero this year then it looks like a win moving forward.
  12. Yeah making a trade is probably the way to go. Then the guy has no choice but to come here. Any FA wanting 600 ABs is going to have some questions about signing here.
  13. Yep I said the latter about Brantley and Conforto yesterday. We've also got Whit who the team likes and he can play the OF just fine too. So maybe they dumpster dive for another lefty like Naquin? And then if an OF gets hurt they just move Espinal into 2B more full time with a Naquin/Whit platoon in the OF? Something like that
  14. http://wp.usatodaysports.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/2013/10/gronkdance2_original_original.gif
  15. I wonder if this means that we are going to be dumpster diving for the 4th OF.
  16. Happy trails and so long from The Sheriff!
  17. Lol they are having one hell of an offseason
  18. lol it’s all good I just felt personally attacked when you said to trade Kirk, wasn’t that big of a deal. Miami is a unique place.
  19. I knew bullying this guy off the forum was the right move. It rubbed some people the wrong way at the time but this thin skinned crybaby has been back for 5 minutes and he starts insulting the mods, our best poster (talking about Spanky not Laika) and then calls all of us dorks. But fear not, the Sheriff of BJMB isn’t going to let him get away with it! No one ever does
  20. Did you ever pause at any point during this whole KK vs. Bellinger debate and think that maybe, just maybe, the LA Dodgers might know what they are doing? When they couldn't trade him for a ham sandwich? When they non-tendered him? When they let him walk? When they tried to get KK? The richest and most well run team in baseball provided us real time evaluations on a player during this whole process, and you guys STILL think he would have been the right call.
  21. For crying out loud, TL's been back for 5 minutes and he's already whining and stirring up drama
  22. Lol KK has Matt Harvey blocked?
