  1. hell yeah it does just needed a little home cooking to start things up
  2. Love seeing the Mariners manager looking all solemn in the dugout as we kick their ass this series I will never forget the pain and anguish (and months of therapy) that came from witnessing them comeback from 8-1 in the playoffs two years ago
  3. Yeah the metrics don't like him much but I agree that he definitely passes the eye test.
  4. I also agree with Vlad's decision to not hustle until he needed to. NEVER hustle, it only gets you hurt
  5. The end result was a ground ball but I thought those were pretty good swing decisions from Vlad.
  6. You are close! It's 98 mph with a launch angle of 26 to 30 degrees. The harder you hit the ball, the larger the launch angle range becomes.
  7. Varsho batting 9th the day after sitting is an ominous sign for him. Fans will bat a guy 9th on a whim but for the actual team to do it after batting him in the middle of the lineup for a week and then sitting him doesn’t make me confident about his chances to turn things around.
  8. I’ve seen plenty of Biggio over the years and I can’t say I’ve been impressed. He’s basically replacement level 3 years running. Havent seen a ton of Kinder Falafel but his defense seems to be as good as advertised and his ABs have been fine as well. Doesn’t seem to have much power but he sprays the ball around. Seems like a good base runner as well and 20+ steals is in reach with enough PT. If he gets regular run at 3B I think he’ll put up the WAR. But hey, they fit naturally in a platoon and almost everyone agrees they are toward the bottom of the roster so it’s kind of splitting hairs.
  9. I'd like to see Clement in there for Biggio but otherwise I have no complaints.
  10. my PTSD was triggered hard on the blooper to CF
  11. Yeah it's a soft dark green and the ad itself is the classic logo with some simple lettering. Makes me want to drink a ginger ale. The TD ad is ok. It's a little too busy with all the white lettering though. That red ad, whoever it is, sucks and I will be boycotting the company that produced that ad.
  12. It depends. The Canada Dry ads look pretty darn good actually. But then it will switch to some bright red one that sucks.
  13. The great Geddy Lee is in attendance tonight I bet you he isn't panicking about the 4-6 start
  14. Obviously Manoah's command was non-existent. But how was his Stuff? Does it look better than his stuff last year?
  15. Went back and looked at Gausman's starts last year and he did have a huge drop in velo in Game 2 but it was against the Royals so he still dominated. The velo returned in Game 3. The Game 1 velo to Game 2 velo in both 2023 and 2024 all match up almost perfectly. So hopefully that Yankees game was a blip and he looks great against the Rockies later this week.
  16. Finally a game against the Yankees where we come out on top on the Ump Scorecard.
  17. Someone can probably explain this better than I, but I believe in Driveline terminology he throws a "rider". He has an over the top arm angle with good extension and good spin. If he gets the ball up I think it all works and it creates the appearance of a "rising fastball" and will induce a lot of whiffs and pop-ups. But if he doesn't get the ball up, he's not getting the rising effect that he wants and hitters can punish him for it. The results haven't been there for Francis yet but I think he will look a lot better against the Rockies in his next start. If you look at his "Similar Pitchers" on statcast they list Tyler Wells, Tyler Alexander, Bailey Ober, Eury Perez and Emmet Sheehan. That's some pretty solid company to be in when one is hoping for backend starter material.
  18. Ronel Blanco has held the Rangers hitless through 5
  19. Ricky Romero is a pretty good comparison. Perihperals weren't eye popping for either of them but both looked like anything from FIP-beating #2 starters to mid rotation guys at the worst. Both struggled out of nowhere and then after the fact they pointed to some vague injuries as the reason.
  20. Mariners will throw some good arms at us but so are we and their offense stinks. Shooting for a 2-1 series win. Then we get the Rockies as the first series on a road trip for them which should help our pitching feast. Good series to get Gausman back on track and to see what Francis has got when he's not facing a top offense in a hitter's park on the road. Let's shoot for a sweep. Yankees come to town after that and Rodon, Stroman and Schmidt are due to face Bassitt, Kikuchi and Gausman. I like our chances to go 2-1 here as well. Let's give them a game to work with and I'm hoping for a 6-3 home stand.
