  1. He would be a wise addition. It's almost impossible to add starting pitching depth without a clear spot in the rotation. But if he's willing to start on the 60-day IL in ST and then make his debut in June I would be all for it. It's almost impossible to add starting pitching depth via free agency but this would be one way to do it.
  2. He also wasn't a good player nor was he a good manager But he is a Jays lifer, having been with the org for 45 years
  3. I agree we should probably put Buck up there but I'm not sure if it helps or hurts Buck's cause to compare him to Tom Cheek lol
  4. Should we put Buck on the Level of Excellence?
  5. That's a pretty good team. Would have been REALLY good if they could have gotten Cade Smith, Freddie Freeman and Nick Pivetta. Then imagine if they got those 3 along with Vlad.
  6. You are probably right. They are a good bet to win that sorry ass division and no other player increases your odds of winning in the postseason like Skubal does. On the other hand, you could trade him and get a haul and still win that sorry ass division. And then increase your odds of winning it again year after year. And once you're in you have a chance.
  7. I wonder if they are going to trade Skubal now. Seems like it's inevitable that he's going to leave for either the Dodgers or Mets next offseason and with Framber in the fold they've got a frontline pitcher to "replace" him. Not sure how much they could get for him though now that he's making $32 million for just one season.
  8. Tigers fumbled that so bad. No idea why they went so low.
  9. You would think Framber’s deal includes deferrals. But if it doesn’t, then we’re effectively paying Cease an extra 4 years and $75M on top of Framber’s deal, which covers Cease’s age 33 to 36 seasons. That Cease contract is looking pretty good.
  10. Orioles whiff on Framber. Tigers emerging as a threat in the AL now though.
  11. Red Sox make their big infield addition lmao
  12. We need a complete and total shutdown of this entire organization until we can figure out what the hell is going on.
  13. Yeah if Suarez was entering his age 30 season like Taters was when he signed his deal, the terms for Suarez's deal would look a lot different.
  14. Jurrangelo is the switch-pitcher who has made some Top 100 lists. Tai Peete is a power-hitting CF prospect with high boom/bust potential. And then Williamson who is an elite glove 3B that can't really hit. 50 FV, 40+ FV, 40 FV for two years of Donovan seems like an overpay by the M's.* *If the Jays made a similar deal I probably would have praised the move as a heist
  15. Yeah he is an admitted Jays fan
  16. I think waiting on acquiring another bat could be wise. If a trade falls into our laps than go for it, but if we wait we can see if Taters rebounds. If he doesn't, bats seemingly always go for far less at the deadline than pitchers do.
  17. Yeah we are in the brutal part of the offseason now, a couple of FAs remain but no one earth shattering I'd kill for a Jays trade
  18. Price enforce the Orioles to the point that they can't sign another SP of merit until Valdez' contract expires
  19. So it seems like I'm getting a dash of tar and a light dusting of feathers with my 5/70 idea which tells me that I'm light, probably need to go 5/80 to get it done. And to be clear this rips up his final year of arbitration.
  20. Varsho extension is a tough one to figure. His dad is a former big leaguer and he is making some darn good money in arbitration. He could also be one of the Top FAs on the market next year. So he's not exactly desperate. But teams typically don't pay for defense and his offense hasn't been good lately outside of a half season last year that was completely dependent on the long ball. My guess, at the risk of getting tarred and feathered, is that something like 5/70 would get it done?
  21. Santander/Lukes/Barger in 2027 is a pretty s*** OF. I wouldn't say I'm panicking (remember I was the guy that said last year's team would contend when everyone had already thrown in the towel in May) but it is a concern that we will have to address at some point. And there aren't really any FA center fielders next year either.
  22. Jays fans when it comes to Steven Kwan vs. Nathan Lukes
  23. Oneil Cruz! We can trade them a combo of pieces to both help them compete this year while netting a prospect or two. Lukes is the corner OF version of Whorewitz, I'm sure they'd love him. I'm sure they could use some of our relievers. Maybe they'd be interested in Santander or Berrios if we ate some money.
  24. I wouldn't want him back at that price but I think it's a decent deal for the White Sox. I think his extreme splits make him a poor choice for a CL but it does raise his profile a little bit. If he has a hot first half they could get a decent haul for 1.5 years of a CL who throws 99 mph.
  25. Yeah I think we need a bat-first 2B. Could be a star like Marte (Ernie still gets ABs as a UT guy and in a platoon with Gimenez) or a 1.5-2 WAR bench guy (Ernie starts at 2B). But we need the depth and I don't want to see Kasevich playing much. I suppose Jimenez could be an option but I just don't trust him.
