  1. Human nature see's trends. Jonn discovered the implosion On September 5th.. since then it has just gotten worse and worse and nothing has stopped it. Logically the Jays should still have a decent shot at making the playoffs. 2 game lead 13 to go Emotionally it feels as if they are done, cooked, gone, over, see ya, It just seems fitting for some reason that not only are they done, but the final 7 home games will just be misery... Fan appreciation day will be a zombie fest, and the final 4 homegames will be like something out of late 2004 a kick in the balls, a kick in the balls, sorry folks it's a kick in the balls.
  2. Back on schedule!!! Some folks have been worrying that implosion was off schedule. Implosion has been cleverly engineered for maximum pain level and duration. The completion date (Fan Appreciation) day was chosen with a little humour. The occasional false moments of hope (like two Victories over the Angels) are to increase the pain, and keep the date on schedule (we don't want it to happen too fast) Implosion start date: September 1st Implosion end date: September 25th (Fan Appreciation Day, 3 games behind Mariners for second wild card, all hope lost). So now that we've given one final moment of false hope the implosion will continue fast and furious... you do the math... Jays will be losing 6 of the next 7 (including a sweep by Seattle) to complete the implosion in front of 30,000 silent fans against the Yankees on Fan Appreciation Day.
  3. f*** that too... Tulo hits a line drive off the wall, single, strikes out, slow grounder out by a step. Bogartz, line drive off the wall double, grounder to right side advanced a guy, slow grounder safe by a couple steps. The small differences add up It has nothing to do with heart, want, need, or character and everything to do with the sad, sad, facts of aging.
  4. I don't get this. It has nothing to do with players caring only about their HRs. It's called "phillying" or "yankees 2015ing" People age, players age, dogs age?? Did you have a dog when you were a kid?? If your not still a kid the dog is probably dead. The Blue Jays "Phillied" September 1st 2016. The Phillies at least got 5 years. We got 5 months. We are where Philly reached in Novemember 2011... so far it has taken them 5 years, and they haven't recovered yet.
  5. Also Seattle. Seattle can get ahead of jays next series.
  6. Hard to see... I guess we are back to it being over fan appreciation day... Jays 3 back of Seattle after that game. It will be crazy dead 30,000 of a paid 46,000 silently watching the end
  7. What do they have to fight about??? Are they going to punch Bautista in the face for being almost 36 and hitting.225?? Are they going to yell at Donaldson for being beat up??
  8. They are old... Their reflexes are decaying... They are tired... They are injured... They are unlucky It has nothing to do with "team play"
  9. My lord... Some idiot bumped the implosion thread. We must all be vigilant and keep the exosion thread at the top. Implosion is over for now, but we have to work together focusing our positive energy, to keep it that way. Explosion!!
  10. I didn't even bother to check Welch... 27-6 2.95?? and only 1.8 WAR. He actually posted his lowest WAR in 10 years or so that year, weird. Lowest k rate I guess did it.
  11. At least according to fangraphs, Happ will be one of the weakest ever. He has a lower WAR then all the guys mentioned in this thread, even Helling and Morris
  12. How is everbody forgetting Jack Morris - 21-6 4.16 in 1993?? Oh wait... he won 20 with grit and clutchness and pitching to the score... No. He sucked in the playoffs that year (despite Jays winning World Series) so it was obvious he had no grit. And grit did not help when he sucked beyond sucking in 1993.
  13. Explosion update 7-2 Jays!!! Anticipated explosion finish data - Oct 1st Fenway Park Exploder of the day - Josh Donaldson (on base 5 times) Gibby savy move of the day - Starting Jose Bautista early in the game. It didn't work, but that was the point. It was just Gibby's way of making the point "hit 3-run homers so we don't have to f*** around on the bases"
  14. That start was before explosion. Weaver is one of the worst pitchers in the league. Facing a team that is exploding... Poor Weaver.
  15. Caller - Now that Donaldson out for the season, and it's over Mike interrupts -- hold on... "over" (in arrogant) disbelief... "over???" Mike - Last I checked they still had Edwin, and Tulo and Travis, and Jose Bautista, and Russell Martin... "over?"
  16. They sent the X-Rays to NY for replay review... just came back original call - soreness, back tonight NY - overturned, hip fracture, out for season.
  17. I guess in 1993 Carter might of been better than a couple of Bonds MVP Seasons 121+93-33 or something like that = 180/162
  18. Joe Carter (1997) 102+76-22=156/155 = 1 or so Barry Bonds (2003) 111+90-45=155/130 = 1.15 or so Bonds still wins... actually dissapointed, I was hoping it would show Carter being better.
  19. reminds me of Cito Gastons "bases clogged" forula walks+singles+doubles-triples-stolen bases Grissom 1991: 34+121+21-9-75= 81 bases clogged Olerud 1993: 114+120+54-2-0 = 278 based clogged Lower is better anything under 100 is OK. Olerud clogged an exception number of bases in 1993... Marquis Grissom was pretty good, rarely clogging.
  20. bump.. keep explosion ahead of implosion... if it works (win tonight) I will become positive, and forget about implosion until next 2 game losing streak. if it doesn't work I will be sad.
  21. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/DET/DET198710020.shtml Looking at some of the old box scores is really interesting. The entire idea of a long man is gone... In this game Wells pitched 6 innings of relief... different times. Could use that now. Hell maybe Sanchez should of been a spot starter and long man this year. Get him 150 innings. Pull the starters early if they didn't look good.
  22. Not trolling but here are the 2016 stats Implosion Thread: 2-4, -2 WAR, -54 WAR/162 Explosion Thread: 0-2, -2 WAR, -162 WAR/162 Everyone Calm Down Thread (on Days JSFIP posts): 1-0, 1 WAR, +162 WAR/162 I think it obvious which thread works... JSFIP can save us, or not, it is his choice I guess.
  23. Explosion - An unstoppable streak of winning that propels a team to glory.. Implosion - An unstoppable streak of losing that tanks a season.... Why is it so hard for people to understand that there is a separate thread to post on for each viewpoint. I don't see King and Spanky trolling the implosion thread with positivity...
  24. It doesn't really matter. Seattle, Tigers and Yankees are chasing us during implosion... there is a 1/8 chance they all lose on a given night... they all gradually catch up and pass us... even if at a random moment it's like .... hey silver lining the Tigers won't make up a game tonight.
  25. I'm pretty sure Gibby was a coach then, and Pete Walker was actually one of the random guys that surrounded Doc..
