  1. I have to think he signed below slot. Hopefully 300k or less which would save us 350k to use later. Any reports on his bonus?
  2. First post. Carry on. lol
  3. Found some video and more info an Jansen if it hasn't been posted already. http://www.ncsasports.org/baseball-recruiting/wi/appleton/appleton-west-high-school/dan-jansen Danny Jansen GP/GS 18gs 46ab .500/.662/.934 5hr 19rbi 9(2b) 2(3b) 19bb 3so 0sb 3cs .998fld% 19a 1e 16-20(cs/sba) Bench Press: 225 Squat: 345 60 Yard Dash: 7.16 Top Pop Time: 1.85 Pop Time: 1.89 Top Infield Velocity: 82 Infield Velocity: 80
  4. Great find. Sounds like a promising prospect.
  5. There's video of some of the other guys online (Molina notably), but when I clicked on them, it said they were private videos or else we were not aloud to watch them from our country. lol Here's a few. Lewin Diaz Ihan Bernal Dayan Perez Olmo Go ahead and create the July 2nd thread for us prospect junkies. It will be nice to discuss some POSITIONAL prospects we might sign. Imagine if AA blows the whole 2.9mm on pitchers again. Hahaha. Mayky Perez & Marcus Diplan baby!
  6. Should we make a second thread for the July 2 signing period or use this one? I hope we sign some bats this time. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/ten-international-prospects-to-watch-for-july-2/ http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/4/24/4259466/2013-international-free-agents So far we're connected to Venezuelan shortstop Yeltsin Gudino. I really want us to try to get these players, who project to hit at the next level.
  7. He could be a Jason Collins fan.
  8. I was super excited about Borucki last year, having done a write up on him before hand, but he wasn't rated nearly as highly (not in BA's top 200) as a prospect as Brentz was this year (80th by BA), and he was coming off an elbow injury. Borucki was and is more polished that Brentz, but Brentz has the higher upside, which is why he was a consensus first round type of talent. I think Borucki even if he was fully healthy out of high school was at best a 3rd round type of talent in 2012.
  9. Awesome. Keep em coming. Get those arms in the system ASAP.
  10. 100% agree. Brentz is a must sign for me to make this a good draft (in addition to Bickford and Hollon of course). If we sign Tewes and Lauer instead it will probably be equal value, but the optics won't be the same. Brentz is a day 1 type of talent.
  11. Apparently both Trey Ball and Teddy Stankiewicz are signing underslot for the Red Sox giving the money to go after Denney. I wonder how much under slot we can get Hollon or even Bickford. I know Bickford supposedly put out a big number, but if he wasn't taken by the Jays at 10, I think he would have fallen to the mid to late teens (San Diego, Arizona, Los Angeles) or early twenties (Tampa Bay, Texas, Oakland) in which case the slot value would have been around 1.8mm-2.6mm. I think 2.5mm would be a fair offer for him, and would save us 400k to use on one of our late picks. Hollon was taken in the second round 47th overall but was ranked at 90 by BA. Windle who was ranked 47th by BA signed as the 56th pick with the Dodgers for slot value of $986,500. I think that is fair number for Hollon as a slight overdraft which would save about 300k. Brentz was ranked 80th by BA and taken in the 11th round. I think he'll want more than what Tucker Neuhaus (#83 by BA and taken 72nd by Milwaukee) so over 771k. I predict based on that that it will take 1-1.3mm to sign Brentz. Toronto Phil Bickford 1st Round 10th Overall BA Rank: 20th (Slot) $2,921,400 (Bonus) ? Toronto Clinton Hollon, RHP, HS 2nd Round 47th Overall BA Rank: 95 (Slot) $1,168,200 (Bonus) ? Toronto Jacob Brentz, LHP, HS 11th round 325th Overall BA Rank: 80 (Slot) $100,000 (Bonus) ? For comparison, here are the bonuses for some of the players who signed already along with their draft position and BA ranking. Dodgers Tom Windle, LHP, NCAA 2nd round 56th overall BA Rank: 47th (Slot) $986,500 (Bonus) $986,500 Brewers Tucker Neuhaus, SS, HS Competitive Balance Round B 72nd Overall BA Rank: 83rd (Slot) $771,000 (Bonus) $771,000 Nationals Jake Johansen, RHP, NCAA 2nd Round 68th Overall BA Rank: 182nd (Slot) $820,000 (Bonus) $820,000 Phillies Cord Sanberg, OF, HS 3rd Round 89th Overall BA Rank: 40th (Slot) $593,400 (Bonus) $775,000
  12. Okay, a couple players look like they've either signed or are very close to signing: News on Jacob Brentz signability: Apparently we had two tough signs targeted at 10 and 47 ahead of Bickford and Hollon but they wanted to attend school no matter what: Any guesses who those players might be? The only guys who seemed unsignable were Connor Jones, Kyle Serrano, Jordan Sheffield, Cal Quantril, Ryder Jones, Cavan Biggio, Dustin Driver, and AJ Puk.

  14. I'm not sure who this guy is but he got re-tweeted by Jonah Wesley. Justin Millar ‏@Justinmillar1 9h I think there might actually be a chance that both Jordan Sheffield and Jacob Brentz get signed. Also really like the @JonahWesely pick.
  15. Yeah, there's a limit. Also, I'm working on getting the other scouting reports, but my computer is glitching right now.
  16. Get Rowdy's twitter so we can bug him to sign, and trash him if he doesn't. I'm scared he'll go to school and become the next, albeit less mobile, Kris Bryant for us. lol
  17. I prefer Brentz cause he's the better prospect, but we need a guy like Tellez. He's the only hitter among our picks who has any potential to be good. If we can get Bickford to sign for 2.5mm that gives us 400k to spend. Hollon also seems fully intent on signing based on his twitter feed. I can see him getting around what Tyler Gonzalez or Chase Dejong signed for which would put him under his 1.1mm slot. If we can get Brentz and Tellez, I think you have to be pretty happy with the upside of the picks if not the positional distribution.
