  1. He probably has a strong arm, they're going to convert him to pitcher in a few years.
  2. Sorry, I'm too lazy to do it right now. I'll do it after the draft.
  3. I pretty much don't expect any big name bats (other than a insurance/courtesy draft) at this point. Whatever money they saved from 3-10, is all going to Brentz if he wants it. Book it.
  4. I wanna add high school catcher Chris Okey to my list. Really nice prospect. Super athletic. Love the bat speed and approach. Arguably the second best defensive catcher in the class. I think he'll move fast with his bat too.
  5. If we have enough bonus money left for one player (let's say 1.2mm or more) who would you guys want to sign? Or would you split it and get 2 guys for 600-700k each. Considering Sanberg went for 775k maybe we can get Tellez and Martinez for 600k each.
  6. I think Collins might be signable for a reasonable price, but Boldt is probably going to school unless he gets first round money. My favourite bat is Longhi or Tellez, but Woodman is my favourite bat left that can play a useful position.
  7. From your list: Cal Quantrill (RHP) and Jake Brentz (LHP). From my list: Chandler Eden (RHP), JB Woodman (CF), Nick Longhi (1B), Rowdy Tellez (1B), and I'll add Willie Calhoun (2B), Elvin Soto ©, Edwin Diaz (SS), and Wesley Jones (3B) to my list now. From BA's top 200 (sans our picks): Connor Jones (RHP), Kyle Serrano (RHP), Ryan Boldt (CF), Garrett Williams (LHP), Cavan Biggio (3B/2B), Chris Okey ©, A.J. Vanegas (RHP), Garrett Hampson (SS), AJ Puk (LHP/1B), Jordan Sheffield (RHP), Aaron Brown (LHP), Stephen Wrenn (OF), Zach Collins (C/1B), Brett Morales (RHP), Eric Lauer (LHP), Thomas Hatch (RHP), Alec Hansen (RHP), Trevor Morrison (SS), Will Crowe (RHP), Trevor Clifton (RHP), John Riley ©, Adam Engel (OF), Dominic Taccolini (RHP), Alex Grosner (RHP), David Gates (RHP), Lukas Schiraldi (RHP), Cody Thomas (OF), Ronnie Gideon (3B), Johnewshy Fargas (OF), Andy Hillis (RHP), Keegan Thompson (RHP), Robert Tyler (RHP), Andy McGuire (3B).
  8. Good news Dougie, Martinez and Martarano are still on the board. Now looking at our picks and where some of them were ranked (or not ranked) I expect at least a few underslot deals (except Bickford) to give us bonus space to use on later picks. 10)Bickford, Phillip Oaks Christian HS (CA) RHP R/R HS BA Rank: 20 PG Rank: 17 47) Hollon, Clinton Woodford County HS (KY) RHP R/R HS BA Rank: 95 PG Rank 99 83) Murphy, Patrick Hamilton HS (AZ) RHP R/R HS BA Rank: Not in top 500 PG Rank 469 115) Smith, Evan Mary G Montgomery HS (AL) LHP R/L HS BA Rank: Not in top 500 PG Rank 294 145) Lietz, Daniel Heartland CC (IL) LHP L/L J1 BA Rank: 254 PG Rank 253 175) Boyd, Matt Oregon State (OR) LHP L/L SR BA Rank: 178 PG Rank 124 205) Greene, Conner Santa Monica HS (CA) RHP R/R HS BA Rank: 446 PG Rank 471 235) Graveman, Kendall Mississippi State (MS) RHP R/R SR BA Rank: 470 PG Rank 241 265) Girodo, Chad Mississippi State (MS) RHP R/R SR BA Rank: Not in top 500 PG Rank: Not in top 500 295) Custons, Garrett Air Force Academy (CO) C R/R SR BA Rank: Not in top 500 PG Rank: Not in top 500
  9. 10 Bickford, Phillip Oaks Christian HS (CA) RHP R/R HS 6'04" 200lbs DOB: 07/10/95 | Scouting video (Slot) $2,921,400 47 Hollon, Clinton Woodford County HS (KY) RHP R/R HS 6'01" 191lbs DOB: 12/24/94 | Scouting video (Slot) $1,168,200 83 Murphy, Patrick Hamilton HS (AZ) RHP R/R HS 6'04" 195lbs DOB: 06/10/95 (Slot) $650,800 115 Smith, Evan Mary G Montgomery HS (AL) LHP R/L HS 6'05" 190lbs DOB: 08/17/95 (Slot) $446,100 145 Lietz, Daniel Heartland CC (IL) LHP L/L J1 6'02" 200lbs DOB: 06/01/94 (Slot) $334,000 175 Boyd, Matt Oregon State (OR) LHP L/L SR 6'03" 215lbs DOB: 02/02/91 | Scouting video (Slot) $250,100 205 Greene, Conner Santa Monica HS (CA) RHP R/R HS 6'03" 165lbs DOB: 04/04/95 | Scouting video (Slot) $187,400 235 Graveman, Kendall Mississippi State (MS) RHP R/R SR 6'02" 190lbs DOB: 12/21/90 (Slot) $156,900 265 Girodo, Chad Mississippi State (MS) RHP R/R SR 6'1" 195lbs DOB: 2/06/91 (Slot) $146,500 295 Custons, Garrett Air Force Academy (CO) C R/R SR 6'0" 200lbs DOB: 09/14/90 (Slot) $136,800 I was trying to figure out how much pool space (if any) we might have saved on a few of our picks. I figure Bickford and Hollon more or less go for slot. Bickford reportedly wanted 3mm and slot at 10 is 2.9mm. I'm not sure what Hollon's value overall is, but he has a commitment to Kentucky so I figure he's at least slot as well. The picks from the 3rd round through the 10th are worth $2,308,600 in total ($2,424,030 if you take the 5% overage) For each of the guys I tried to find comparables from last years draft just see what we might be able to sign them for. That' what I based most of the bonus figures on. It's not scientific obviously, it's pure guesswork at this point so bear with me. 83) Patrick Murphy $325,000 115) Evan Smith $350,000 145) Daniel Lietz $50,000 175) Matt Boyd $200,000 205) Connor Greene $300,000 235) Kendall Graveman $50,000 265) Chad Girodo $5,000 295) Garrett Custons $5,000 The total spent is $1,285,000 which would give us $1,139,030. That should be enough to pay one guy at 1.2mm or 2 guys at 650k (picks after the 10th get 100,000 without counting against the cap). If we can sign the guys above for even less than what I have that gives us quite a bit more to spend tomorrow.
  10. Chad Girodo, LHP Mississippi *Lefty specialist type.
  11. Remember when organizations *cough* Boston *cough* were complaining that we had a pre-draft deal with Tyler Beede, and were demanding sanctions. lol This signing is actually good news for me. Sanberg is a premium talent and a legit top 100 guy and he only signed for 775k? Hopefully that makes it easier to sign a big name that falls past the 10th later, a guy like Jeremy Martinez, Rowdy Tellez, or Nick Longhi.
  12. If anyone has scouting/draft questions the guys at Perfect Game are running a chat right now. http://www.perfectgame.org/Draft/DraftHQ.aspx
  13. Minus the 1mm+ bonus. I hope we svae some money from these injured guys and senior signs to take a flier on a guy like Jeremy Martinez or Nick Longhi after the 10th round and try to sign them. Based on my calculations there's approximately 1.8mm in bonus money allocated from the 4th to 10th round (+5% overage). If we save 500-800k that would be huge in getting a "name" guy later.
  14. Kendall Graveman 6'02" 190lbs DOB: 12/21/90 Graveman has capably moved to the front of the Mississippi State rotation to fill the void left by the departure of Chris Stratton, a 2012 first-round selection. Graveman was a 36th-round pick himself a year ago, but returned to school for his senior year. He uses a sinker-changeup combination to produce plenty of groundouts. Graveman's fastball sits in the upper-80s with heavy sinking action and his changeup is a solid offering. Graveman throws a curveball as well, but it is a below-average pitch. Graveman has good command and has proven to be durable in college, which should make him a solid senior sign.
  15. Jays take Kendall Graveman. KENDAL GRAVEMAN, rhp, Mississippi State University With 62 college seniors drafted in the first 10 rounds last year under the revised rules of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, Graveman is a logical candidate to be scooped up in the top 5-8 rounds this year if form holds. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound righthander does not have overpowering stuff, but has enjoyed a solid senior season for the Bulldogs, going 5-3, 2.06 with 15 walks and 44 strikeouts in 66 innings. He has been a ground-ball machine with the excellent sinking action he generates on his 88-92 mph fastball, and beat Louisiana State and Arkansas, two of the nation’s top college teams this spring, with 18 and 17 ground-ball outs, respectively. Graveman has an acute sense of working to his strengths and is not afraid to pitch to contact, and excels by throwing consistent strikes with his sinker, change and slider. He also helps his own cause by being an excellent fielding pitcher.
  16. Looks like good news on the Osuna injury front.
  17. CONNER GREENE, rhp, Santa Monica HS While he can run his fastball up into the low-90s right now, the interest in Greene is more based on his long term projection rather than his present stuff. He has a quick, clean arm action and a lanky frame with room to fill, and he creates a good downhill plane to his pitches. His curveball has good 12-to-6 shape and above average present spin rate in the mid-70s, though he lacks the present feel to avoid making occasional mistakes with hanging it over the plate. He's also working on a splitter as a change of pace pitch, though that too is still a work in progress. He's the kind of projection arm who could take off under the tutelage of the right player development system.
  18. Mayo had Boyd in his top 100 draft prospect 72 overall
  19. 10. Phil Bickford, RHP, HS 47. Clint Hollon, RHP, HS 83. Patrick Murphy, RHP, HS 115. Evan Smith, LHP, HS 145. Daniel Lietz, LHP, JC
