  1. Welcome to the site KB. I was a big fan of Stroman's for a long time. I really wanted the Blue Jays to draft him and was elated when they did. I wrote this about him and a bunch of other guys about seven months prior to the draft. He was just coming off a solid sophomore season and an amazing summer with team USA. Granted this was long before the draft so I wanted him even though it was as just a reliever, and guys like Correa and Almora were still being ranked in our range. I think I hit on a lot of my picks though, not to toot my own horn (he says as he blows dust off finger nails and wipes them on his shirt) http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=325&f=2039&t=7786165&p=6
  2. Sounds good guys. We'll all vote on the top 20-30 and I'll write them up.
  3. I suggested Breaking Bird a while back since 'Bi'smuth is an element, and Bird sounds more like Bad. Doesn't really matter though.
  4. Finally finished part two of my feature on the AL Central. Had to juggle a bunch of stuff but here it is. http://www.breakingblue.ca/2013/11/22/the-expendables/
  5. I wouldn't mind bringing back Carlos Perez and playing him as a backup, provided we got a legit starting catcher who could play 120-130 games.
  6. Cause we can never get enough Stroman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZoiSaVIPic
  7. Probably as far as the minor leaguers. I looked up Halladay's swingstr% while with the Blue Jays though and compared it to other pitchers that had thrown 800ip from 2002-2009 and he came in 41st out of 107 pitchers.
  8. Yeah, I agree. Roy Halladay had a terrific curveball too, but without looking at the numbers I'm guessing he got a lot more guys looking with it than swinging. I thinks it's more a question of the type of curveball, the deception than the quality.
  9. Hey, I hope you don't mind but I'm going to tweet those numbers.
  10. I should have checked out those stats. That's pretty much what I've seen. His bb isn't a nasty swing and miss pitch like Stroman's slider for instance. It surprises you because he throws it from the same arm slot as his fastball, and you recognize it too late and can't do anything so you just stand there an take the strike.
  11. He seemed fine by it. The guy JaysFanAway seemed more rankled. If Chase reads the article, he'll realize it was full of glowing praise. I think I added a touch of criticism at the end (fair criticism mind you), so that it didn't seem like a homerish love fest. The original draft was almost unqualified praise, as he's one of my favourite Jays prospects like I said, but the tone didn't seem right.

  18. I wrote this about him a while back. Video of him starting at 34seconds to 1 minute 25 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0oBLjZ1vts I haven't checked his stats in the Series Nacionales this year but at the WBC he hit .545/.667/.524 with 1bb and 0 strikeouts in 21 at bats.
  19. This guy may not be able to hit. We already have guys that can do that. Fernandez is the best hitter in Cuba right now, and he;s a second baseman.
  20. I hope he took Jose Fernandez with him (the other Jose Fernandez). Second base problem instantly fixed.
