  1. I concur, great job GD.
  2. Right now he's probable in the 20-30 range. He's got good now stuff (low 90s fastball up to 94, wipeout slider), but his consistency and command waver, and he doesn't have a whole lot of projection left. I like him though. Kind of reminds me of Gavin Floyd with a slider instead of a curve.
  3. Hey, sorry no info right now. Angelo and me have been busy working on something about July 2 free agents. I was supposed to have the first part done this afternoon but I got stuck downtown, so it will come out tomorrow. If anything this guy will have info on these players if they're from the DR. If they're from Venezuela, I know someone to ask, so I'll check later on.
  4. This is my opinion as well. I like a lot of names in the 2nd and 3rd round this year as well.
  5. I got an article coming up within the next 10 days or so, just need to clarify some important info.
  6. Nope, graduated in 2002. I wrote a few articles for that rag but I was never an editor. I just wrote that on my fake bio for Breaking Blue since Juiced said it didn't have to be real. lol
  7. Wow, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm frankly speechless. The first thing I should do is apologize, for making everyone worry, to paraphrase Mark Twain reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated, but your concern was real and I'm left feeling very touched by the outpouring of love. I have to add that coming to the forum after weeks and seeing a thread about your supposed passing sent a little chill down my spine. At the same time I felt like Tom Sawyer attending his own funeral, and hearing all the things people had to say about him, but it is still pretty morbid. Rest assured I am alive and well. I've been away for a while; first on holiday vacation with wife and family, and then just bogged down with work. I usually don't spend a lot of time on any baseball forums in the offseason, especially when there's not much to talk about, and I honestly could not have anticipated the repercussions. I've been on other forums before and people often disappear sporadically and no one really notices so this forum is truly unique and special in that sense. Now, just for clarification my name is neither Peter Acevedo or Allan Quatermain (as many of you have deduced). Peter is the name of an old high school buddy I knew a while back (who I hope is ok now given the reports), and is in fact an alias I use to protect my own identity. I apologize once again for all the confusion. King, I'm sorry, I got your email, but had so much stuff to do I didn't have time to respond. Hope that didn't complicate things for your league. So in closing thank you all for your concern. I really appreciate it. I'll try to keep in touch even when I'm not actively posting, but I likely won't be posting for a while unless something significant happens or in advance of opening day. Also Ang I have been working on the South Park cartoon. It's going pretty well. I even found someone to do all the voice overs. It should be ready some time opening day-ish. Cheers, ACE
  8. I'm not sure. I think he signed a month ago.
  9. IFA signing:
  10. It says he can play second base. I wonder how reports regard his defence there. I mean it's nice in theory, but then you might end up with Bonifacio 2.0.
  11. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/defection-of-top-cuban-outfielder-rusney-castillo-could-shake-up-market/
  12. http://www.astroscounty.com/2013/12/astros-select-ravel-santana-in-rule-5.html Damn, just realized Luhnow and the Astros picked Ravel Santana from the Yanks in the minor league phase of the Rule 5. Astute pickup in my opinion. No risk high-reward. I wrote about Santana in my first feature. http://www.breakingblue.ca/2013/11/20/the-other-guys/
  13. I never kid about prospects. They're all there is to look forward to with this friggin team.
  14. Sure. Why not.
  15. The Jays said they have someone in mind to spend the 244k on. I wonder who it is. Maybe someone we haven't heard of yet, a pop-up guy. I know we got Lizardo for 250k, so we should have enough to get someone half-decent. From my list of IFAs not yet signed I have Rene Pinto ©, Luis Torrealba ©, Felix Osorio (OF), Dayan Perez Olmo (OF), Andres Sanchez (RHP), Rafelin Nunez Guzman ©, Alfredo Oropeza (RHP), Chakiro Pina (LHP), Edery Cuello (LHP), Emmanuel Herrera (3B), Hidekel Gonzalez ©, Meky Coronado ©.

  17. My Rule 5 Draft preview. Better late than never. http://www.breakingblue.ca/2013/12/11/rule-5-draft-preview-blue-jays/
  18. Stroman video from a few weeks back. Haven't seen it posted yet.

  20. Can't lie, I was pretty disappointed in that read. I always remembered it being better. Then again, I was a teenager at the time, and things are never as good as we remember them when we were young. (EDIT) I just noticed that Deck is listed as the 29th prospect and in the "Ones to Watch". lol
  21. For those unfamiliar with Batter's Box it's one of the oldest Jays blogs around from back in the day, but has kind of gotten lost in the shuffle as more and more sites have emerged. On a lark I went to check out the site again and found that they had put up their annual top 30 prospects list + "Ones to Watch." I'm just in the process of reading it myself, so I can't comment on if the list is good or not yet. Just thought I'd share. 30-21 http://www.battersbox.ca/article.php?story=20131009144031100 20-11 http://www.battersbox.ca/article.php?story=20131009151542555 10-1 http://www.battersbox.ca/article.php?story=20131009152731162 Ones to Watch http://www.battersbox.ca/article.php?story=20131025162837223
  22. Finally, something for my offseason draft prospect fix. Scouting reports and videos at the link. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=draft Callis and Mayo also tried their hand at an early top 10 mock draft. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/callis-mayo-take-first-crack-at-top-10-2014-draft-picks?ymd=20131204&content_id=64384888&vkey=news_mlb
  23. Nice. I wish I had known. I would have loved to ask him about Brandon Finnegan and Brady Aiken, two players I really like. Mayo and Callis also tried their hand at an early top ten mock two days ago. I'd love Kolek, but I'd rather have Aiken over Toussaint as it stands now. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/callis-mayo-take-first-crack-at-top-10-2014-draft-picks?ymd=20131204&content_id=64384888&vkey=news_mlb
