  1. Floyd was a pretty good player though. I think if SRF became as good as prime Gavin Floyd most people would be pretty happy. Most scouts and analysts see SRF more as a 3 starter than a potential ace. He's physically not that projectable, and stuffwise will likely be the about the same player he is now (Low to mid 90s fastball, plus slider, average change and curve) albeit with more consistency and polish.
  2. Nick Faleris from BP says that Pentecost's bat can play at 2nd base in the unlikely event that he has to move off catcher. Gave him Biggio comps for his linedrive bat and athleticism.
  3. I'm not even sure who's still on the board, so what's the consensus on "fallers" we should target tomorrow?
  4. I wonder how much (if any) we save on any of our picks to put towards players drafted after 10. I'm guessing we might have enough for at least one Tellez/Brentz type of signing, just curious to see who might still be on the board. I'm not sure if either of these guys has been taken yet: Bobby Bradley, 1B - Louisiana State Tanner Houck, RHP - Missouri Keaton McKinney, RHP -Arkansas Cobi Johnson, RHP - Florida State Trenton Kempe, OF - Fresno State Jake Godfrey, RHP - Louisiana State Luke Bonfield, OF - Arkansas Garrett Cave, RHP - Florida International
  5. 206. Joey Pankake, 3B/OF, South Carolina The Rangers went into South Carolina for two late picks in 2011, unable to sign Pankake in the 42nd round but signing righthander C.J. Edwards in the 48th. Edwards quickly emerged as a prospect and wound up headlining a trade with the Cubs for Matt Garza. Pankake went to South Carolina, helping the Gamecocks to the 2012 College World Series as a freshman shortstop. He has stepped back as a junior, having dipped from 11 home runs last year to five entering the Southeastern Conference tournament. Scouts never thought he would stick at shortstop as a pro, but he played plenty of left field in 2014 as well as third base, and scouts aren’t convinced he can handle the hot corner. His arm strength has backed up a bit as well, now rating as average. Pankake has strength in his 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame and solid-average hitting and power tools, with polish to his approach. He’s solid across the board but doesn’t appear to have a consistent carrying tool.
  6. I honestly have no idea who that is. Is that a real guy?
  7. I'd take him if he had any chance to play second base. I like the potential power bat on the infield.
  8. 10. My bad, I was thinking of Varga. Deichman is the second oldest HS guy in the draft among the top 200.
  11. Oldest HS guy in the draft I believe. I think he's already 20. Makes me apprehensive. Big time lefty power though, and can stay on the infield.
  12. What do you guys think about taking a flier on Karsten Whitson outside of the top 10. Nick from BP said he saw him recently and his stuff looked great again.
  13. I'd say Lavalley and Houck are Callis guys. MLB did a good job snagging him from BA, though I think it weakened BA a bit.
  14. Yup, still on the board. Might be able to do a Jake Brentz with him if he falls past 10.
  15. I like that pick for St. Louis. Draft eligible sophomore Trevor MeGill. Was ranked higher earlier in the year. Big guy with decent stuff.
  16. He looks like what David Cooper would look like if he had a chin. lol
  17. I'm really starting to hope Bobby Bradley falls out of the top 10 rounds so we could get him like Tellez. I think he's the top HS first baseman in the draft. Potential above average power and hit from the left side.
