  1. My favourite was the guy who I thought was a Brett Anderson troll (I mean, who would make a fake profile of Brett Anderson right?) and then I saw the blue check mark and number of followers and realized it was the real Brett Anderson.
  2. You would be too if there was a funeral thread dedicated to you (I think it was him)
  3. Fixed.
  4. Yeah I'm thinking significant pay cut for him. Smoak range type of deal plus team option where people lose their s*** at first but in retrospect turns out fine. If Atkins signs this guy I wouldn't worry. I would assume they see a worthwhile reclamation project. They aren't just going to sign players for the sake of signing them. I'd rather they gift the position to Hernandez or Alford in the spring in that case.
  5. Am I the only one who thinks this isn't reaching that far into the dumpster and could be an adept move? He isn't like Bautista v2.0 he's several years younger. And the Jays have a pattern of much bigger turnips than him turning it around in their late-20's to early-30's with the team. The two things going against this move would be 1. The Jays don't really need another should-be DH defensive liability on this roster and 2. The team hasn't had very good recent luck when acquiring a player away from Coors.
  6. You guys are being far too myopic. If you're talking about Osuna being on the table in the thin RP FA market you may as well shop Tepera, Leone and Barnes too.
  7. LOL @ you for mentioning Beeston but failing to laugh at Bob Elliott. You are across the pond though so I'll give you a pass.
  8. Trammell is legit. If Ozzie Smith is in Trammell should be in too.
  9. Did David Wells even get one vote? Morris and Wells have equivalent careers and Wells is also a playoff hero. Jack Morris is the baseball version of Trump. He got voted in just to f*** over the system or as a protest vote.
  10. Funny because teams like the Yankees and Cardinals don't embarrass themselves like the Astros did and they're always in the playoff hunt. White Sox haven't even done anything yet and you're using them as an example of success? Loser mentality strikes again "Losing now begets winning in the future, somehow". The Jays won the 2015 division handily. Went 3-2 against Texas and 2-4 against the Royals, not a better team. Jays won a WC spot in 2016 but save for a poor September was looking like a playoff team for most of the year. Won the WC game, swept the Rangers, lots to Cleveland 4 of 5. So a .500 record in the playoffs and two ALCS appearances is getting thumped to you.
  11. See, this guy knows how to make a bet. I'm just waiting for Greenwood to make another Stroman ERA bet with anyone that will come by and take it.
  12. I think JFL19 will win that bet and won't have to even sweat it for the year. (No I'm not betting some scrub on here with the same bet in December, I'll find a similar prop bet with a legitimate bookie in March when I have the most possible information) Judge sophomore jinx and Stanton is due to miss 40 games. Someone is really going to put their faith in a guy who has over a 30% K rate in his young MLB career to carry his weight of 50 HR again? McGwire's 1987 season is a good parallel to where Judge could be headed, with 10% lower K-rate. There's a reason why good hitters > 6'5" 240 LBS are so few and far between in this game (as opposed to pitchers where you can find plenty of big guys).
  13. For the people who still watch Buffalo TV with the commercials and everything, I can picture Stroman rocking out to that JG Wentworth boyband ad. This one:
  14. If the Jays were to completely punt this season, a deal involving Stroman and/or Happ would actually be a reasonable fit for both sides* * I mainly wrote this to get Jimcanuck fapping over this ultimate wet dream scenario for him, dumping MLB talent to a division rival.
  15. Maybe if we're lucky the Jays can flip something inconsequential to the Marlins to get Castro and get a little piece of divisional pay back a la what the Rays did with Escobar.
  16. I am torn on Rush. I recognize that they have talent and creativity with a unique sound, but most of the time that unique sound is just not for me. I know a lot of people who I think are cool and I get along with well who like Rush (including the Trailer Park Boys), but Geddy Lee is so, so not cool. Alex Lifeson is alright though.
  17. I still blame Trudeau for this, as with everything else that goes wrong with this country. The one good thing he does is sucking up and he couldn't even do us Jays fans a solid and convince the young man that Canada was the place to be. Recruiting Ohtani here would have been his greatest accomplishment as PM (TBH, probably the greatest accomplishment out of many PMs)
  18. When I look to hire someone I pretend to be looking for all of these qualifications relevant to the job when in reality I just want to hire one of my pals or some hot chick with big boobs. People lie. Holy f***.
  19. So is Baltimore.
  20. I love how Jim manages to turn this clusterf*** fail thread about Pillar into me thinking Pillar is a slam dunk HOFer in two posts. He has a knack for this. If all the Jays can get for Pillar is a b-rate A-baller they absolutely need to keep him on the MLB roster which is already thin on OF depth especially on the glove side. Pillar is worth more to this team than a scrub prospect, s***. AT LEAST wait to July to make that kind of decision, if it unfortunately warrants being made.
  21. Being critical of his poor use of cash and being critical of his use of roids are two different things. Though his use of roids and his lack of cash now could have a slight positive correlation.
  22. Must be out of cash. He doesn't have Jose Canseco-level of name recognition so he has to do what he can to raise his profile somehow so he too can get d-list celebrity appearance deals on The Apprentice and charge $3,000 to hang out with you at bachelor parties. I call BS though until he starts training for MMA and attempts his first fight against a 7 foot tall 400 pound Korean man.
  23. Usually your posts are pretty spot on, but I think somebody spiked your drink before you wrote this one. The VR feed/camera angle options sound intriguing, though I assume that MLB would implement than en masse as soon as the appropriate infrastructure is in place to make it happen. The rest of the stuff would be too much for me (I know some of it is sarcastic) and this is coming from a guy closing in on 4,000 posts on a Blue Jays forum. We just had a lengthy discussion in another thread about how much of an irritating douche Stroman is. I'd rather go along in happy ignorance that the rest of the team and MLB players in general aren't all exactly like that, just a little more reserved.
  24. Hope he goes to the Padres for purely selfish reasons as a Jays fan. Keep him as far away as possible from the AL, but also don't have him join a team like the Cubs or Dodgers where his talents will be used to build a dynasty and reduce the Jays' chances of winning a World Series in the near future. Let him rot on a bad team for all I care. f*** the BTS logic of having him go to a decent team for a good baseball story. My loyalty is to the Jays first! Stick Stanton on the Giants and shift the power balance to the NL West as much as possible.
  25. Yes, it's funny that people think that these corporations are mortal enemies or something. There is so much employee turnover within the industry that they all remain friends and have lunch with each other as they move up the ranks in each corporation. I say that as someone who worked for one of the big telcos. I have kept in contact with more people who work for competitors now than I have with people still with my former employer. Bell and Rogers would marry each other in a heart beat with all the execs collecting big bonus payouts and stock options on a temporary stock pump if the CRTC allowed it.
